"Outstanding Accomodations with Friendly Staff and Great Service"
My stay at the Five Star Candlewood suites was made possible by the friendly staff and great service. The main staff member who was extremely kind and helpful during my stay was a young man who[More]
worked in the afternoon and evening shift. He gave us excellent directions on a map to the River Walk, the best place to park to be close as we are senior citizen and can't walk too far, gave us a card and said if we got lost to just call and he would get us back to Candlewood suites. He also gave me information of the improvements of the missions I had seen in the 50's. His knowledge was valuable, because I am going to plan another visit to San Antonio with a dear friend in Austin, TX sometime soon and I know exactly where we are going to stay. Thanks Candlewood suites for making my stay so memorable. [Less]
"Could have been a bad stay, but wasn't due to the staff"
I have stayed in San Antonio countless times, but had never stayed in this particular property. Overall it was a great stay despite several things that could have made it unpleasant.
It all started[More]
before I arrived as I had issues making the reservation online, so I called the hotel directly and they got it all worked out for me. Good job!!!
When I got to the hotel I asked for a quiet room. The last time I stayed out with the family we heard people running up and down the hall and above us all night. So the staff put us on the top floor and in a suite on the end, basically the farthest corner of the hotel. Another good job!!!
When I came down to the desk on Saturday morning to make sure my room reservation was fixed (I had a reward night as well as a paid night) the lady at the front desk said the card machine was not working due to the storm the night before. She would get my cards fixed once the machine began working. We went out for a few hours and when I got back she said the machine was still not working, and that many of the guest room doors in the hotel had reset so they were having to walk everyone up to their rooms. (Isn't technology grand) They called a gentleman from maintenance and he walked us up to our room. Later the kids decided to go to the pool, and anytime the kids forgot something in the room the staff had to walk us back up and let us in. By the end of the afternoon all we had to do was walk up to the guy and he knew exactly which room and floor we needed.
When the key machine finally got fixed, the manager walked me back up to the suite to make sure the cards worked and said for my trouble she was going to give me some extra points. I thanked her, but in my mind I was thinking "You guys have had to walk me to my room about 5 times today so I'm not the one that should be getting the points, but points are points and I'll take them anyway..."
The next morning when I went to check out I got stuck behind a guy that was arguing with the same lady at the desk that I had seen multiple times the day before and she was nice and courteous to him and tried to explain what was going on, but she basically couldn't fix his issue and he was not happy with that. By the time he got finished and finally moved on my check out was simple and efficient.
I will be back in the San Antonio area in a few months and the only reason I will not be staying here is they do not have availability. Both me and my family enjoyed the stay here and every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. I'm sorry I didn't get all their names, but they were all helpful and friendly. [Less]
