Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent room but do not go to the bar We stayed overnight in a family room and I must say the room was massive,there was a double bed and 2 sofas made up into doubles - with still lots of space in the room. Tea/Coffee making facilities, a Fridge, Trouser press, Hairdryer, Excellent size TV (laking an iron though). Big size Bathroom with a decent shower (complete with shower gel/shampoo. Overall the room was excellent and very handy location to nip into London but unfortunately I went to the bar for a pint and was charged an astronomical £7.70 for a pint of Boddington's - yes you read that right ONE pint. We never actually ate at the restaraunt so cannot comment.Overall I would recommend to stay here providing you skip the bar. July 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Confusion Over Spa Facilities When visiting this hotel please be aware that the Spa swimming pool timetable at reception is incorrect. You will be told that the last time you are able to enter the pool is one hour before the pool closes. What is not made clear is that you are asked to leave the pool half an hour before advertised closing times (I was told to give you time to dry and change) Maybe the Spa staff wanted to get away early (duty manager also suggested this might be the case). This means if you go in for the last hour you will only have half an hour to swim. The hotel reception staff were not aware of this on the three times I checked. Better communication is needed between Hotel Reception Staff and Spa Staff. During my stay I highlighted this on 3 occasions - I wonder if the information has changed? June 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service all round at this superb hotel My wife and I arrived at around 11.30am and so was early for normal book-in but as soon as we went to the reception desk we were greeted with courteous enthusiasm and told that our room was ready for us. We had an executive room which really lived up to its name. After visiting some relatives of my wife who we had never met before, we returned tired to our room to relax in comfort. Breakfast next morning was plentiful, filling and delicious. We would thoroughly recommend this Hotel to anyone. June 8, 2013

Easy to find off Motorway junction, therefore very accessible. Good swimming pool and gym on site. Room rate at desk considerably more than paid on internet with 21 days advance booking. Room beds prepared as notified would be arriving at night after london show for 2 adults/2 children. Thank you Would return June 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stay had problems but they were listened to and hopefully rectified for future guests My Husband and I stayed for one night which turned out to be the worse nights sleep I've had for ages. I decided to pay to upgrade to an executive room as we travel quite a bit and normally stay in basic rooms so thought we would treat ourselves. Well when arriving at the room we only had one bath robe, one face cloth, only a couple of items of bathroom extras ie: showergel, shampoo. The vent in the bathroom didn't work. The minibar had 5 items in it so you couldn't both have the same drink. Then the worse thing ever was the bed. It was so uncomfortable, it was rock hard and when you moved it wobbled and you ended up in the middle. We had spent the day walking and were really tired but there was no way we were going to be able to sleep. I had hoped for a lie in and with the executive room you can stay until 2pm, so I couldn't believe it when a House keeper knocked on my room at 9.30 and tried to open the door (because we had forgotten to put the tag on as we were so tired# I opened the door in my bath towel as just got out the shower and only one robe and she said she had come to clean the room!!!!. Thank god I was awake. Now, all this sounds bad, but when I asked for an email address for a manager on checking out the receptionist insisted on why we wanted to complain so we told her and I have to say that by the time I had got home, the Manager had called and discussed theissues with me and had offered a full refund and said that she would make sure all was rectified, she also asked us if we were to stay again would we please contact her #Gloria) and she will make sure everything is ok, we did not expect or ask for any compensation, so this was a pleasant surprise, and as I say we stay at lots of hotels throughout the country and we will stay at this place again as long as things are rectified. Thanks for reading and I hope it helps someone - we could have complained on the night but we were so tired and it was late. Only other thing is the Alcoholic drinks are London prices!! May 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good stay bar a couple of things..! My family and I are regulars at this hotel and we love the facilities and the location works for our trips to London. Just a couple of things which caused issues this time: breakfast on Saturday was busy. I asked one of the staff if she would mind wiping the chairs as they were messed up after the last guests. She replied, carrying her dishes, "there's a wipe over there - help yourself!". The other one was the cost of breakfast. We'd been advised by the duty manager it was £9.50 per person, but going up after the weekend. We asked for 8 vouchers (the kids eat for free). When we checked out, we were charged £11.50. The duty manager wasnt there so we forked out as we weren't getting any luck with the receptionist. Not happy with this, and not sure I'll be taking the breakfast next time. Otherwise happy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful chef and overall excellent hotel We really enjoyed our stay. Booked 4 rooms for the weekend to celebrate a family birthday. Stay made particularly good by chef who was happy to cater for one of our party who is on a gluten free diet because they are a coeliac. Also great to see gluten free bread and pasta on the menu. Breakfasts also excellent. Overall a fantastic hotel we would recommend with excellent facilities including light and airy dining area and large swimming pool. May 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Room but..... The room and facilities were what I would expect from a Holiday Inn. The breakfast was good. However, the evening meal was well below standard. We chose from the menu that was supposed to celebrate English food and were extremely disappointed. The selection of cold starters was very average with nothing that suggested let alone celebrated English food. We both chose the same main course from the buffet, this was a pie filled with overly salted cubes of gammon in an unpalatable white sauce which included chunks of what may or may not have been apple. Needless to say these were unfinished. Last October we stayed in a Holiday Inn in Boston where the food was of a very high standard with a local flavour. Why should there be such a disparity in the standard? My recommendation is based on the room comfort and service but sadly, not on the food. April 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable clean rooms, excellent service We would like to thank the 3 girls that were at the check in when we first arrived before our check in time. They were all very helpful. They gave us directions to the local town centre, they even printed out a map for us, and offered to look after our luggage until we returned later to check in. The breakfast was very good both mornings and the staff in the breakfast room were most helpful and friendly. Our room was also kept clean and re-stocked throughout our visit. We stayed at this hotel due to it being close for us to visit the Harry Potter studio tour. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in this area. April 23, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth the stay We were returning off holiday & needed to stay at a hotel after a long haul flight from the USA. We asked if it was possible to check in early (12:00) & this was easily accommodated. So a big thanks is in order, as we were extremely tired. With regards to the hotel, it was definately the place to stay & relax before driving home. The staff were excellent & they could not do enough for you, so again thankyou! The only slight critisism was that the hotel looks a little tired & could probably do with a bit of TLC. But this is only a minor moan, as it is the people who make your stay. April 19, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms out dated and tired, lack of cleanliness. We ave not stayed at this hotel for a while, the first room we where given was not clean, and smelt very bad. Bathroom was dirty and toilet was blocked. We where moved to another room and bins in room still had rubbish in from previous guests. We arrived late and could not move to another room. Would think twice about staying again at this hotel. Bathrooms all in need of a refurbishment. Think twice before booking. We use this group of hotels a fair amount, this is the worse we have styled in. April 6, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great room, food, health club and staff We stayed here to visit Harry Potter Studios and it was great. We were 2 adults and a 5 year old and the hotel was great for us as a family and very accommodating of our 5 year old who loved the Harry Potter DVD corner with pop corn. The food was also great at both dinner and breakfast. All of the staff were fantastic and the cost of the room was great value. We used the pool, steam room and sauna which was real bonus. Highly recommend this hotel and will be trying Holiday Inn again as so impressed. March 20, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable A well run and comfortable hotel. I had lunch and breakfast that was very good. Room was clean but used. TV was okay with a number of channels. I did not use the movie channels. The bar was okay. The bathroom was okay but worn. The sink seemed blocked so I ran the taps and took the plug out. On my first morning I was showering (10.00am) and the shower stopped I just managed to get some water on me to get rid of the soap. On enquiring why the water stopped the hotel told me there was an emergency shut down for repairs. I accepted this as I appreciate these things happen. Apart from the above my stay was comfortable, and will return next year. March 20, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Old Hotel - New Staff Prior to this stay I last visiting the hotel for a meeting 19 years ago! Was good to be greated by either free drink and snack or 500 points (points, work pick up the food bill so no benefit to me) I wasnt sure what to expect but the room was just right, the bed was comfy, perfect pillows and typically for hotels of this era - no power sockets by the bed :( The hotel might be older, but the staff were so new they still had the wrappers on, very (read 'over') kean and friendly. I like my service to be relaxed and informal so once the corners are knocked off will be interesting to revisit. Overall an average score, more experienced staff and warmer room service food would move it to a 4 star review. March 18, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by People good, ambience poor If there is one thing I hate sitting in a hotel lounge is Sky sports on full volume and the hotel piped music in the background. How is anyone meant to relax with these two sounds competing with each other? The rooms are basic. The bed is one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. I failed to identify the difference between a soft pillow and a hard pillow - they both seemed like bricks to me. The staff working in the hotel were friendly and they showed empathy. March 2, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TURN THE LIGHTS UP Lovely bedroom with plenty of space and very quiet. Spa facilities were fantastic, including swimsuit spinner and hairdryer. Bedroom lighting is ABYSMAL. Bathroom has bright lighting, but there was nowhere in the room with enough light to read by. How about a properly lit bedside light? Breakfast wasn't very hot and bacon was dry and hard. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Breakfast and Dinner selection We booked this hotel for the location being close to Harry Potter World and the great dinner, bed and breakfast rate which did not disappoint. The room we stayed in was quite cramped but then there were 2 adults and two children. I was expecting a King size bed and a sofa bed or maybe two doubles but we had one double and a pull out bed for the kids so our night's stay wasn't very comfortable! On booking I did ask for a larger room but no mention was made of this when I checked in so I assumed the hotel was full or the larger rooms were taken. However the hotel seemed quiet so I have assumed you get what you pay for...!! There was no recognition of being a priority club member but then I am new to this! Overall stay was fine, pool was clean, food ok, location great, price excellent but would have preferred a comfier more spacious room. January 9, 2013
