My wife and i spend the first 2 nights and the last 2 nights during our Florida trip in this hotel. I have spent my points for the stay and good even upgraded to a nice ocean view room.
The reason why we have chosen this hotel was the beach access and the pool as well as the free parking.
The reception people were friendly and helpful.
One down site was that the cleaning of the room has been done in the afternoon when we had enough from the sun and wanted to stay in the room for cooling down.
The location of the hotel is ideal if you like the beach and the sun.
The pool area and the beach are having enough sun umbrellas and deckchairs, even when the hotel was fully booked.
For breakfast we have used the restaurant only once as it was a bit expensive and had not so much choice compared to the Boca diner a couple of miles away.
Not far from the Hotel are 2 super markets as well as a couple of restaurants and fast food facilities.
All in all it was a nice stay in that hotel and I would definitely come back.

We have always been happy with all the Holiday Inns that we have stayed at, but the Highland Beach Holiday Inn stands out more than any other. It is located in a beautiful area, the cleanliness of the rooms is great, the staff is so friendly and go out of their way to make you comfortable. The restaurant should be rated 5 star. From breakfast all the way to dinner the food is unbelievable!!! The waiters are very friendly. We have been coming to this hotel for about eight years now and will many more times in the future. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who asks.

As soon as we checked in we had a problem with our a/c unit and the bathroom sink was not draining after several complaints they changed our room . The hotel seems dirty and my son found someone's shoes and other belonging under the bed that didn't belong to us. I made several complaints to have my room cleaned / changed it wasn't until I called holiday inn corporate that I got an answer. My room was cleaned and changed . The location is beautiful on the beach and the pool was very nice . The restaurant and staff were great. I am hopeful that with the complaints and other reviews this location can be a better place to stay next time as they are the only hotel in the area when we visit family.

It is so nice to wake up to the sound of the surf and be able to walk out onto the beach. If the beach is too windy, there is a u-shaped hotel surrounding the ocean view pool area to enjoy. This Holiday Inn is kept up well, which is not always easy when you are practically in the ocean and the price is right. Be sure to pay the small amount extra for the full on ocean view with usable, comfortable balcony!

The Highland Beach Holiday is on the beach on A1A. The rooms are good but the location, between Boca and Delray, is ideal.

As a layover night before a cruise, our stay had a few issues, We were recognized as platinum quest and upgraded to an ocean front room. Unfortunately, the heating unit/thermostat caused an extremely noisy unit to turn on/off every 5-10 minute. The shower drain was "extremely" backed up. Finally, we returned from breakfast at 9:45 to find the cleaning service already cleaning our room before we checked out. I informed the front desk of the issues and she said that the manager was not available until later that day. I left our contact info. We were about to board the ship that day and received no response from the manager until Tues. Of course there is no signal on a cruise. I returned that Sunday and responded to her return call with no manager available that day. There was no responses after that. We enjoyed the location, and potential of this hotel, but there are maintenance issues that need attention and customer communications need improvement.

we've been coming here every few years since the early 80's. This is my & my family's favorite holiday inn. I would've given it higher ratings but the front desk staff seems cold & indifferent and I hated the parking lot view room. I made the mistake of reserving the cheapest room & got a view of the parking lot on the ground floor. I really regretted that. In the past I've always had pool view or ocean view rooms. Those are so much better and worth the cost. Our $50 breakfast of cinnamon French toast was totally worth it. Best breakfast of our whole vacation sitting outside with the waves crashing in front of us. We had lobster quesadilla & a strawberry colada for lunch and both were delicious.
The pool was heated nicely & so swimmable. The hot tub was HOT, but nice once you get in. We walked the beach & there were very few people on it. I will come back here again but will NOT stay in a parking lot view room again!

This is the second time that my wife and I stayed at this hotel. Bravo to the manager Ric and his staff for making it a very pleasant experience. The rooms are clean, and comfortable. The staff is always ready to help with any request. The restaurant was really quite good. We would not hesitate to recommend it to family and frieds. I just hope it has room for us next Feb because we would like to stay even longer. It is always a sign of good management when the property is well maintained and upgraded as we noticed on this last stay.

I booked my room two weeks prior to travel. When given a key to the room and taking my bags a long walk to the room I found the key wouldn't work. After I retrieved a working key I found that my roomwas directly next to the dumpster and the outside entrance which ensured a poor view and noise from the door closing as well as activiity from the parking lot. The hotel was not busy and yet they put me such a room.
Immediately after looking at the room, I asked to be moved but they claimed there were no rooms available. I am surprised by this being a Priority Club member I would have expected a bit better treatment. After I threatend to leave the hotel and then they gave me a different room. I guess the hotel wasn't full after all.

Lounge chairs on the pool deck are beginning to show their age and need replacement
Don't understand the pool towel policy. While they took our room number and name, no one ever checked to see if we returned the towels. I do hope I'll never be charged the $15 per towel penalty.
One night I left the room without a key. I went to the desk, asked for a new key to my room and was handed one, without any questions including my name. I know the clerk did not know who I was yet he graciously gave me a key!

Close to Delray Beach where there are many great restaurants, yet far enough away to be quiet and relaxing.

The best thing about this hotel is that is located right on the beach. You still need a car, as there are not many restaurants within walking distance. (unless you are satisfied with the limited options at hotel restaurant.) The rooms are a little dated, but the beds were very comfortable.
Overall the hotel would be OK if the staff was a bit friendlier. I have traveled all over US, and in about two dozen countries, and do not remember the last time I met such unfriendly staff. The person at the front desk when I checked in seemed in such a bad mood, I thought she came back from a wake. I asked to upgade my room, she said that is not possible, even though I saw room availability online. They said they offer free coffee in the lobby, but that means you better bring a bunch of coins to get your "free coffee". Over the next three days I realized that the other staff at front desk was just as unfriendly as the first person. When I checked out, not a smile, not a thank you for staying with us, or a please come back from the guy at the front desk. When I got the receipt and said thank you, he did not say one word. I have not seen this kind of behaviour at a Holiday Inn hotel in my life. If they changed or trained their staff, this hotel would be a lot better considering the great location.

1. Very old furniture.
2. Bathroom is small, and old, and the bath tub begged for bleach. ( I could not shower because it looked filthy.)
3. There was hair in the bathroom . :-( yucky
4. The phone kept ringing after 7am. I had to leave it off the hook. I did not ask for a wake up call.
5. Luckily I had the chain on the door.. At 9:30am someone tried to come in on me & it wasn't housekeeping.
6. The elevator is small, dingy and dirty.
I live 15 minutes away, but I wanted to wake up on a beach for my birthday. I regret it. :-(
That hotel is in an awesome location... It just needs to be demolished and rebuilt. The last time it was refurbished was 2000..., 13 years ago. That's sad!

We had a very good experience. We were upgraded to a room on the ocean side just a few yards from the water. Room was spacious and comfortable. My only recommendation would be to provide cushions for the metal chairs on the balcony.

Our room was on the top floor and immaculate. The view and sounds of the ocean - unbelievable.
Food is excellent. Everthing we ate was fresh and delicious. Room service great. Latitudes and Cabanas wonderful. Special shout out to Klaus our bartender who made awesome coctails and perfect service.
Friendly housekeeping and staff provide excellent service.
Pool was fantastic. Comfortable chairs, umbrellas EXCEPT there is a problem finding a chair because guests would claim chairs early by placing a towel on the chairs and leaving it all day. I saw this happen several times and chairs remained empty all day. Maybe a sign or a staff person policing the pool a few times during the day would help.
I will definately be back.

This is one of the Holiday Inn vintage properties. Old line hotel, but very up to date and a great value. Location could not be better. We needed a place for the night, used to live in Boca, so picked this because it was in the right area and on the beach. Great choice, great staff, low key Florida atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again. Off the beaten path - across the intercoastal - so nice and quite. Very safe. Restaurant was very nice.

The front desk folks during the week were great.
I had a lot of resistance from the weekend staff behind the front desk.
To the young lady who works mornings on the weekend,
Lighten up. Maybe you have worked there for seven years, but I was given drink coupons for every night I stayed until you got there.
I thought they were because I am a platinum member.
You treated me like I was trying to steal from you..

We come to the Holiday Inn in Highland beach usually twice a year for a week's vacation We have always found the accomodations wonderful but what we like most is the fact that we can resume relations with your friendly staff The fact that most staff remains the same speaks very highly for the inn and we have developed friendships over the years We often meet repeat guests and that is fun also
