It's a good choice to stay at this hotel whether you are on business or on holiday in Hohhot.

This is my 17th IHG Hotel stayed in the past 1 year.
I would say the experience at Holiday Inn Hohhot was terrible. I chose Holiday Inn Hohhot because I was expecting the hotel could provide the same quality and standard of service like other Holiday Inns in China/Asia I have stayed.
However, from the infrastructure, decoration, facilities to the staff service altitude, Holiday Inn Hohhot was simply not up to the ordinary Holiday Inn standard, which made me very disappointed, and somehow had negative impacts to the image of Holiday Inn in my mind.
The frontdesk ladies were generally rude and unprofessional. Except Mr.Zhang who helped checkout for me was very good - polite, efficient, and professional, which shown a great contrast.
IHG Rewards Club member status was not being recognized, ever. It was funny that the staffs aware of the existence of the IHG Rewards Club, but just not know what they should offer to the club members.
The buffet dinner was unbelievably terrible and unreasonable. Just like what others have commented below, and I did not see any improvement at all. The so-called buffet dinner provided very limited choices of food - no salad bar, only a few slices of fruits, no desserts & cakes, even provided no special dishes in connection to Inner Mongolia/Hohhot. That was simply not Holiday Inn style, but charged at the Holiday Inn rates.
The "deluxe" room was terrible. The carpet was dirty and parts of it were covered by dust. The electrical sockets, just like what others have commented, were insufficient.
The most ridiculous thing was the quality of toothbrush - the bristles detached from the handle while I was brushing my teeth!
The washroom was dirty. Some of the light bulbs burnt out but nobody replaced them.
To me, this is simply not a Holiday Inn.
I would suggest the Holiday Inn Hohhot management organize some training/trips to visit other Holiday Inns in China, and see what they are offering. You know we the hotel guests may pick Holiday Inn Hohhot just because of some happy previous stays at other Holiday Inns, and got disappointed at Hohhot. Also obviously the Holiday Inn Hohhot has made me so disappointed that it discouraged me from staying at other Holiday Inns in the future.
I know the hotel and the staff are having a difficult year in 2013, but I hope the service could be improved, and at least the staff could serve the guests more politely and in a more professional way - even we can understand they have hard time staying at their own positions. Please work hard and catch up to the 'Holiday Inn' standard.
