Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simply amazing! To begin with, I contacted the hotel before we set out of our trip, I spoke with Braylynn(I believe is how you spell her name). She was helpful, nice and welcoming. My husband and I decided to take our first trip with our two year old son. On our 6th wedding anniversary, nonetheless. We were a nervous wreck and expected the worst, you know, a screaming toddler, the neighboring room calling the front desk with complaints in addition to the hotel fears with a toddler, we were concerned about the area. Birmingham's crime rate isn't the best and since we were not familiar with the area, we hoped we picked a good part of town. Upon arrival, we noticed that the surrounding area to the hotel is very fluent. Maybe shopping venues, including Publix, and several nice places to grab a meal. The hotel parking area is clean, well lit, and safe feeling. First look at the hotel when we arrived, the lobby area, is well decorated, modern, and clean. The front office staff were dressed nicely and very professional. We checked in and paid for our room with no issues, we were welcomed by BJ & Jacob, who were also there the following night(and final) of our stay. Both were very courteous and helpful. I went back out to our car with the cart to carry our luggage in, we packed said cart and then let the toddler out. When he came in, we was excited, BJ and Jacob both greeted him with smiles and made him feel welcomed. Right off, he noticed the fish, which I'll touch on later. He helped us get the cart to the elevator and to the 5th floor. Once off the elevator, on the 5th floor, my son started down the hallway (we were ALL the way at the end of the hallway, which we appreciated with a toddler, we were hopeful that we would have only one potential neighbor to disturb.) When we opened the door to our room, we were blown away. We had a suite, which was not just a regular suite where you walk in to the bedroom with a little divider and the a mini-fridge and microwave. We walked into a living room, with lots of windows, a desk, TV/Couch area, the mini-fridge and microwave, then a door led to a separate sleeping area and bathroom. The room was very large, smelled wonderful, and was very very clean. My son loved it! He had plenty of room to run around and play. I cant imagine if we were in a small room how he would have been. He had room to play with his cars, roll on the floor and a place to eat his snacks. Later on our first night we left to grab a bite to eat. My son ran over to the fish, again, to talk to them. I noticed a sign that gave the names of the fish and offered for you to take one of them to your room to stay the night. When we arrived back from dinner, and settled in our room, my son continued to talk about the fish, especially the "Orange" one (red). I called down to the front desk, where BJ answered. I asked her about the fish staying overnight and what I needed to do, she was so nice and said I could bring my son down, let him pick one out and then take it back to our room. I was a bit concerned about the life of the fish, what if it dies on our watch? BJ assured me it would be okay. So took my little one down to the lobby, he of course picked out the "Orange" one named, Crimson. We carefully took it back upstairs (with food the BJ provided us with). When we got back to the room, I wanted to put the fish up high where my son couldn't get it. He wanted it next to the bed. He won. With Crimson on our nightstand we prepared to go to sleep. He was elated that we had a fish in the room with us, so much that he told Crimson "Good Night and Sweet Dreams". Kudos to whoever thought of that idea, I've never seen it before, but it definitely made a difference in the quality of our stay. Crimson stayed both nights with us and we returned her safely to the front desk upon checkout. We made it! We had a great time, in a wonderful kid-friendly hotel, with no complaints or accidents! When we are back in town, we will definitely stay in this hotel again. Manager, you have a great place, and good staff.... Keep up the good work! September 20, 2015

We travel across the country twice a year and always stay in Holiday Inns or Holiday Inn Express. Their mattresses are excellent and we get a good rest. This Holiday Inn could use new mattresses. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Too soft bed and pillows/ No cinnamon rolls I normally enjoy my stay at Holiday Inn Express but not this one. The bed was too soft and the firm pillows were too soft. The room was very nice and I enjoyed having a microwave and fridge. I did not know they would not have the famous cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I enjoy them and would not have stayed if I had known. The elevator floor was filthy on Saturday when I checked in and stayed that way until Monday when I checked out. This should have been mopped on Sunday. It was black and sticky. September 10, 2015
