This Holiday Inn was a great place for a quiet weekend. It has modern rooms that are clean and quiet. It is convenient to most places folks want to go in Birmingham and Hoover.

The room smelled wet upon entering, however all the carpet, towels, and bed linen was dry. The microwave did not work, it did not heat my food item. I also awakened frequently because my right hip hurt, The pillows were comfy, but the mattress was not .

Arrived for next day business. Was greeted as I walked through the doors. Check in was very quick. The person was very friendly.
Christy at the bar made sure I was taken care of. She is fantastic at her job and an asset to the property.
room was clean as expected and no noise issues during the night.

We stayed at the Hoover Holiday Inn 1 night on points and had a great night. I was recognized as a IHG Gold member at check-in and provided a coupon for a free drink at the bar -- a good start! The room appeared relatively new and had 2x queen beds for my wife, son and I with plenty of room for luggage and to move around. Everything was in pristine condition and very clean. The room was also very quiet and dark when the windows were closed. Multiple pillows with differing softness were provided, adding to a very comfortable sleep. We had no problems whatsoever - a completely worry-free stay.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hoover Holiday Inn. The overall experience was certainly a positive one. I liked the appearance of the hotel's lobby and dining areas, and enjoyed the breakfast buffet there each morning.

Very nice property. Good people, clean rooms and good food. If you get a chance have a drink at the bar with Ashley. She is real welcoming and makes you feel at home.

This was one of the best Holiday Inns I have ever stayed at in a long time. The staff was great and the bar and food service was excellent.

I was in town for my sister-in-law's funeral and decided to share a room with my sister and her husband to help keep our costs down. I got to sleep on the sofa sleeper....big mistake. It was VERY uncomfortable. I could feel the springs so I did not get much sleep. The hotel's solution was to give me two baby mattresses to put on top of the sleeper mattress. This helped somewhat but then I had to deal with the noise from the plastic covering on the baby mattresses! You would think that a hotel as big and well known as Holiday Inn would have a few memory foam mattress toppers in their inventory to give to guests who actually have to sleep on the sofa sleepers. OR not have sleeper sofas at all.

We stayed at this hotel while visiting our grown children. It was clean, quiet and very convenient. The staff was friendly and the free coffee in the lobby each morning was hot and excellent. We highly recommend not only this Holiday Inn but most hotels in the IHG family.

Needed a good rest while driving from Texas to Northeast Tennessee. Hoover was a little more than half way, and was a good, comfortable stop. Friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable room.

I really enjoyed my stay, however I had an executive room, but I'm not sure what the difference in it and the regular room was. It seemed like a pretty standard room, nothing extra. I was let down that there wasn't a whirlpool tub or anything extra to justify the extra cost. Other than that my stay was very nice.

Wireless internet worked well and was easy to connect to. Room was nice with sufficient space for our needs. TV was easy to operate. Only "negative" I can think of is our request for extended checkout was not greeted with much enthusiasm by the staff. We eventually did get 2 hours additional time. Location was easy to get to.

Descending order from worst - Reception, staff, helpfulness, room service, knowledge of room services, cleanliness, and lastly basic club recognition.
[Much longer version]
Kerri reception as soon as I walked in, greeted with half-smile, condescending tone/words, unfriendly, unhelpful. Also the other receptionist apologized under her breath for her colleague’s behavior without me saying anything at that point. And this was just 60 seconds in the door.
I put my family's room service breakfast on door at 11pm still there at 715am when we expected breakfast. I went down for checkout at 8am next morning. Same Kerri. My luck. I told her of issue and she told me when I put my room service breakfast order on door, I need to call room service in morning also so they know. WHAT?! Are you serious? Anyways that was not my reply but my reply was who is manager. I was told there is no manager right now not on duty but at all! I walked away and said I am checking out of my room..
I have been loyal domestically and internationally as a club member since 2000 with many years as platinum. After paying and/or using my points over the years, I only have 300k+ points remaining. I actually used points for this stay and cannot believe it.
Based on actions, this place has lower quality and service expectations. Without true management changes, I will never stay here again and will proactively advise my colleagues and to those of us that care about high quality know of this experience.

First when checked in, did not recognize us as Platinum Members, also have Service Animal, and was on the reservation, but the staff did not even know where to look to see if it was on the reservation, and that they did just not allow pets, so had to get the Food Manager that was on duty as he was the only Manager, he straightened that problem out,
The first night at around 12.00 am we were woken by load screaming and shots or fireworks, called front desk (Justin) did not want to handle it, made several calls to front desk and (Justin ) still did nothing, would not give me a mangers phone number or the police, so around 3.00am I looked it up and called the police and they came and took care of all the screaming and etc. The food manager the next day apologized again and said we would look into it. My question was were was the management, and why are the staff not trained better to even know policies and where to find information when checking in.

EVERYTHING WAS INVITING AND THE STAFF WERE VERY NICE TOO.
THE BREAKFAST WAS WONDERFUL AS WELL.
ENJOYED WORKING OUT AND SWIMMING TOO.
UPON REQUESTING A ROLL AWAY BED WHEN MAKING MY RESERVATIONS, WHEN I SHOWED UP AT THE HOTEL THERE WERE NONE LEFT AND THEY MADE NO PROVISIONS FOR THAT. MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER SLEPT ON THE FLOOR AND SHE IS A TROOPER FOR DOING THAT. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW MY REQUEST WAS DISREGARDED.
OVERALL IT AS GOOD PLACE TO TAKE A REST AFTER A REAL LONG DRIVE.

After a long drive, the Holiday Inn was a welcome relief at Birmingham-Hoover. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel and the restaurant too.

I cannot remember a time when I have been greeted more rudely than I was upon my arrival at this hotel on June 12th. I approached the desk and stated that I had a reservation for tonight, and was brusquely informed of the current time, the normal check-in time and the work schedule of the cleaning staff. I informed him that I had requested early check-in, and was told that I should call IHG headquarters, that they had made the reservation, and basically that he was not responsible for my problem. However, within 10 minutes I was in a room which had, in fact, been ready the whole time. Later I learned that the person checking me in is not an untrained staff member but the hotel manager. As an Elite Platinum member and a stock holder of IHG, I am troubled by this. I have stayed at enough IHG properties to know that this is not the norm in other places, but even one incidence of this kind of behavior should be unacceptable. I was given my choice of a drink or 500 reward points for a welcome gift. I would prefer to be welcomed by a courteous staff member.
Other than this, my stay was acceptable.
