They were very slow on checking in, didn't bother to tell me that they were done checking me in, or where the elevators where. The fire alarm went off at around midnight due to what I believe was drunks in the hallway smoking, because their rooms were smoke free. No appolgies or anything on checkout. November 27, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast area and room maintenance need attention but I slept well We stayed only one night at this Holiday Inn and it is our second visit to the hotel. I chose it because of the downtown location. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. Our bathroom and entry door had to be slammed to get them to close. They definitely need adjusted. I was so uncomfortable closing the doors because I was afraid I was disturbing the other guests. Also there was a whole in the wall by our tub. All of these issues should have been noticed and reported by the housekeeping staff. I reported these issues to the front desk as we were checking out. Both times we have stayed here our service has not been good in the breakfast area. We sat down and I had to ask for coffee, glasses and silverware. I was told they were washing the glasses. The employee working in this area was cleaning off and setting up empty tables and didn't even acknowledge we were there. We could easily be seen. The food choices are just ok and our friends who have stayed here had the same comments on the breakfast choices. I wasn't given the option of ordering off the menu. The location is what makes this property attractive to us but we also stay at another location ( not a Hoilday Inn) not immediately downtown. November 20, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Surprising Huntington I chose this property because of a meeting at the Big Sandy Arena & Conference Center across the street. This was an ideal location in a rejuvenated, pedestrian friendly downtown with lots of nearby restaurants and shopping. Our friendly desk clerk recommended the Thundering Herd Hall of Fame Café across the street which was good enough to return for a second dinner without looking elsewhere. My 5th floor room was spacious with a full size sofa, microwave, refrigerator and good lighting. The fitness center equipment was in good condition and about average for this price range. Breakfast selection and quality in the dining room was just fair. Overall, this was a positive experience. October 22, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Don't get me wrong but..... The check in time was abit odd, at four, then leave by twelve on Sunday. The price was hefty for such a small room. There was also no true complementary breakfast like other hotels I have stayed at. I did not like having my card charged by them before I even got to stay there either. Ultimately, it is a very nice hotel, but EXPENSIVE!, I think that they should knock down the price some, give better wifi, and or atleast give a bit of a continetal breakfast of cereal or something. I enjoyed my stay, but cannot say I am completely satisfied for two days worth of staying and what i got out of it, however I would still reccomend due to how nice it is. October 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Patient and Friendly Staff I was in town for the TsubasaCon 10 Anime Convention next door. Anime fans are generally reasonably well-behaved, but the costumes and playful attitudes can be a bit nerve wracking to the uninitiated. The staff took it in stride, and with good humor. Returning after housecleaning Saturday afternoon, the room looked quite nice, none of our personal property had been disturbed beyond being moved to dust. Saturday night, we had a minor emergency when one of the group had an allergic reaction to something in dinner. Desk staff quickly gave me accurate instructions to find what we needed. My only quibble with the entire trip was that we had brought a DVD player with us to watch our purchases. Unfortunately, we couldn't switch the TV to the auxiliary input to use the player (I have 30+ years in video production- it wasn't just a "Hey stupid push the button" situation). Express checkout was a major plus, and greatly helped us make our departure on time. All in all, I will be using this location whenever I attend an event at the John Eye Center, and not just because it's next door. Thanks guys, and I'll see you next year. October 16, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sept 28-29, 2013 - Huntington WV, Handicapped room was spacious, but with a dazzling view of a concrete wall (lovely wall, but get real!), and noisy as a night in a busy kitchen. I will stay at the motel again, but never again in room 104. Overall, it's a nice property, close to clubs and restaurants. But, stick to the upper floors, if you can. For IHG Rewards Club Members, they could do better than a continental breakfast. A big bottle of water, a pot of tea, some fresh fruit are all amenities I have received at other Holiday Inns, so getting a free piece of paper (and a tiny one at that) didn't really give me a lot of warm and fuzzies. And, the fact that the desk clerk couldn't put his girlfriend on hold long enough to devote his attention to me me ME! was also disconcerting. October 2, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Took Care of the customer When I checked in around midnight, The night staff was very nice. She checked me in and off to my room I went (at least I thought). I had to go back to the desk several times because my key did not work. After the third time, she called someone up to look at the problem. I was in my room after about 20-25 min. Desk clerk felt bad and apologized as well as the maintenance guy. When I went to check out, my bill was discounted substantially and also had a note apologizing again. I felt that the hotel staff took care of the issue and made it right without me asking, which is good to see. Thanks September 22, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor room service food Only in hotel one night. About 7:50 called room service and ordered shrimp cocktail and fish fry dinner. Asked how long... Told 20 minutes. At 8:25 got a call from "chef" saying kitchen was out of cocktail sauce for shrimp cocktail. Pretty hard to believe, but No choice. At 8:25 dinner came up. 7 or 8 very small shrimp still watery from being defrosted, and a 3 piece fish dinner of very over fried frozen fish pieces. Veggies, mushy and unappetizing. Baked potatoe instead of chips as described menu. Will probably try another local hotel if I am back in area, and would need to order room service. August 31, 2013

It is a great location and the staff is amazingly friendly and helpful but the hotel still needs upgrading. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great service clean comfortable rooms We recently stayed at this property which had been renovated. They did a great job. The rooms are updated, clean, and large with very comfortable beds and pillows. The staff does an outstanding job of giving great customer service and they are very friendly. The buffet breakfast is okay. I think for what they offer on the buffet it would go a long way to extend complimentary breakfast coupons to priority members. They did give a 50% coupon for each of us for one breakfast, however, we stayed at the hotel for 5 days! I know that the express brand does give free breakfast, but it would be nice to be recognized as a priority member at the suites property. I would rather have that then the bottle of water and cracker jacks, but that is a nice touch. The property is located within walking distance of shopping and restaurants which is nice. The workout room is clean and has towels and water available. I did not use the indoor pool, but it too looked clean and nice. The negative during our stay was that the in room movies were not functioning. I have a daughter who goes to school at marshall in Huntinigton and this will be our hotel of choice., Thanks! I gather that I was asking her too many questions which prompted her to say to me when checking on an inquiry, "I should know you room number by heart". Additionally, after making shuttle arrangements to the Tri-State airport for 5am pick up 24 hours ahead of time - the shuttle driver never showed up - I had to make alternate arrangements at 5:25 am. A word to the wise, shuttle service is not reliable and day shift clerk spews unprofessional and unwarranted comments to guests. August 23, 2013

Came to Huntington to see family and to have dinner together, There were ten of us, and we ate and visited in the RiverCafe in the hotel. We were made to feel welcome, received excellent attention from our server/hostess in the dining room. This was a comfortable place to have our reunion and we appreciated the friendly atmosphere in a beautiful dining room. Our room was excellent in every way - from the cleanliness to the very comfortable bed and pillows. We will stay here again in the future. August 13, 2013

Even though the rooms are dated they are clean and safe. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. I find the town to be safe to walk with many thing to do and see. Food from sushi to burgers, if you cant find it you don't need it. July 23, 2013
