Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Embarrassing Highly embarrassed that we choose the Ipswich Holiday Inn for our group booking as all I ended up doing was apologising to our members for the poor service and experience they had due to the mistakes and inefficiency of the hotel. The list of errors have been included in a letter of complaint to the hotel manager and the Customer Complaints department already. But to highlight the more basic stuff, trying to make the booking in the first place was difficult, upon arrival they appeared to be a complete lack of knowledge of our group booking details despite them already being passed to the hotel, dinner booked in advance was late and of extremely poor quality with items clearly not being defrosted sufficiently before serving. Keycards to the room kept failing and requiring guests to return to reception on countless occasion to have the card re-programmed, the last thing you want to do when all you want is to climb into your bed!!!! I hope the letter of complaint prompts some serious action October 27, 2014

The meal in the bar area was nice once they eventually brought the meal that I had ordered as the first effort was the wrong meal. It was exchanged without any issues, however there was no apology for the mistake. The reception staff were all very courteous on arrival and departure. October 23, 2014

Dinning and bar staff just as helpful. Well done. Would highly recommend. Tired looking from the outside; and may have to walk a long way to the room as it is a low level design. Hotel is location situated conveniently within easy reach of the city centre, a park and ride service and motorway. There is enough parking spaces, a handy luggage trolley is available by the entrance of the hotel. Facilities are very good and rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The only down side for us was the food; dinner and the continental breakfast (cooked breakfast was v. good). We stayed two nights, both nights we stayed for dinner however we chose to eat out for breakfast on the second day. Dinner presentation, taste and value for money was poor. I am used to HI food being very good and tasteful, this was quite a disappointment. I would definitely stay in this hotel again, as the hotel experience was very pleasant and the staff were very helpful and friendly. However, I wont be staying there for breakfast or dinner. Sorting out my WiFi payment issue, repeated times my key needed re-programming (need to keep it away from magnets in my iPad case!) and generally dealing with my custom with a smile. The room was clean and comfortable and the curtains certainly kept out the light - unfortunately the same could not be said for the 20mm gap at the base of the door. A rolled up towel soon solved that minor issue though. I had one evening meal at the hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed it ... the food was very well presented and tasty. The breakfasts were the normal buffet fare, with the usual issue of plates not being quite warm enough to prevent the food cooling. August 16, 2014

Breakfast is a highlight, but the bar prices are the normal high end you expect in most hotels. Although the stay is more expensive in the summer season than the off-peak season it is still good value for money for a family. August 13, 2014
