My overall experience in this hotel can be fairly rated as being average +, and there are some areas of improvements for this hotel that could make future stays much better as the potential of this hotel is great.
So on the positive side, the hotel manager was really professional and, on my request, did upgrade my room to a (small) suite - though this is not a favour, having a Platinum IHG status.
I really loved the Fitness center, clean and well kept! It was a big plus for me. I could not enjoy the outdoor swimming pool (winter time), but at summer time, that should be great since there's a terrace around.
On the less positive side: the rooms are overall big enough though slightly noisy for some of them and this is not only due to the road traffic. For instance, the housekeeping was slamming the rooms doors in the morning so you didn't have any other choice than to wake up....which confirms that the rooms are far to be soundproof.
Still on the housekeeping: though the sheets and towels were changed everyday, the floor of my room wasn't cleaned 8i noticed some dust not removed during 3 days!!), and I had to ask specifically to get my rooms cleaned more properly than it was before....
Also, I had a really irritating experience on my last day, while going with my friend outside the hotel - she was heading back to the airport - the reception staff did ask me what was my room number thinking - of course ! - that I was leaving the hotel without paying my bill....
I found this quite offensive and inappropriate since I was indeed identified with my ID, my credit card and my IHG number!!! Just a ridiculous situation. Moreover, the staff on that day - January 08th 2013 - wasn't that friendly I must say, which is a lack of professionalism with regards to the standard of this hotel (5*). As said before, the general manager of this hotel is a good professional and maybe his staff could be inspired to behave likewise.
Recognition for IHG® Rewards Club Members: I wasn't welcomed as such specifically. I guess this is more established in the US than in EU or some other countries. Also, as said earlier, I have been upgraded to a larger room but it was on my specific request, not spontaneously suggested by the staff.

House Keeping didn't clean my two rooms for 3 days.
3 power failures inside the room due to failure in the enegry control access card socet inside room #512.
Breakfast area cleaness can use impormentment.
failure in elevators is too frequesnt!!!!!!

A perfect hotel for a vacation in Istanbul.
Location is ideal near the tram station. Make it easy to reach any place in Istanbul.
Very professional staff with perfect hotel details.
