A five star hotel in the shape of a crocodile is something to see! The room was very quiet, but the night time torrential monsoon downpour was actually very conducive to sleep. The display and aboriginal art in the reception area was very interesting. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but we thought it was a shame that there weren't more indigenous people employed at the hotel. ( I'm sure there are complex reasons for this# We ate dinner in the restaurant and found the food to be of a high standard with generous portions. Finally we liked the position of the pool, in the middle of the downstairs rooms#which had nice little verandahs with outdoor furniture) but we wondered if there was a way to make the pool water cooler. In January it was very warm.

Another great trip to the Croc, the kids loved the idea of sleeping in a crocodile and after a day of driving and exploring the quality food at the restaurant was brilliant. The scallops with braised pork belly where excellent and the Kangaroo Massaman was tasty and tender. We will be returning to the Croc very soon and look forward to exploring more of Kakadu.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ukajot Cool but.. not modern
I gave 4 stars and this is all about it.
The crocodile thing can be cool as idea but the hotel is not modern anymore, with forniture from 90s or even 80s.
The rooms where comfortable enough but for a 4 star hotel I would expect a bigger restroom without any plastic curtains. The walls and ceiling have some spiderweb and old yellow spots.
The restaurant is a bit expensive but the cousine is really nice.
The pool is salty and warm, not bad at all. Lucky enough to not have so many flies like in the outback.
Over all, thank you for chatting with us and for the pleasant tim.

We had a thoroughly relaxing weekend at Gagudju , we had a busy Saturday looking around Kakadu and then had the pool to come back to cool down. The staff were extremely helpful and informative and the food was excellent!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Peaceful and relaxing
We stayed at Gagudju Crocodile Hotel with no expectations after reading some negative comments posted online. What a pleasant surprise! ALL staff were pleasant and informative. The maitre di in the restaurant was polite and efficient, despite being under enormous pressure. He did his best to meet the needs of a huge mix of cultures and traveller categories; a tough task at the best of times. Our room was clean, comfortable and relaxing. People complained of the food and accommodation prices ..... it was comparable to all goods and services in the Kakadu area and the Northern Territory. We were delighted to have a comfortable bed, a refreshing pool and fresh food at the end of each day.

We expected a lot from this property given its reputation and the room cost. We found it to be outdated and in need of refurbishment.
The single chair in our room was worn and had cigarette burns in it. The common areas, stair wells and corridors were dirty. The guest laundry is filthy.
The food in the restaurant was expensive, inedible and took over an hour to arrive. Drink prices in the restaurant are double what you would expect to pay - $50 for a $15 bottle of wine.
The pool area is tired and the outdoor seating area around the 'billabong' is depressing being littered with dirty white cheap plastic chairs. This hotel could be so much more if the management made some sort of effort. The sister property at Cooinda is so much better!
