For a hotel that I have used regularly with a refurbished restaurant the service this time was very disappointing. Limited meal menu; very slow dinner service; an hour to receive basic room service when the hotel had very low occupancy; laundry that had to be chased up; Executive lounge with untrained staff and food on display for hours with no covering; bathroom amenities not replenished......

The hotel met my expectations. We had a short but comfortable stay. I've put in a request at booking to allocate a room on a higher floor and advise that we were travelling with a child (no option to book a child in the room). These requests were not accommodated/mentioned at check-in and the sofa bed was not prepared for the child. The two security guards at the hotel gate were never friendly when we used the gate to enter/exit the hotel grounds.

Our stay was very comfortable. The safety of the hotel should be kept up. Being close to the shopping center was an added advantage. Not having dineer served in the dining hall was an inconvenience since the food came cold from the 9th floor service/kitchen

The hotel itself is in a nice area with malls and the train very close. The hotel shuttle will take you to both but they are definitely walkable.
The room was average with nothing outstanding to write about. The bathroom had a bit of a sulpher smell to it that I discovered was due to the open drain in the floor. Covering it with a towel helped but obviously this should have to be done. Also, there was construction going on next door and the window weren't very sound proof. It wouldn't have been an issue but they started working at 6 am!
Unfortunately while I was there, there was some utility load shedding going on and the hotel lost power a few times. The generator kicked on but later in the evening, the power was completely out with no back up. While this happens, it would have been nice for the management to apologize to guests for the inconvenience it caused.
Then hotel pool is nicley located on the roof and the small gym seems offers a great view of the surrounding area. The restaurant was good and the food selections were decent. The food was above average in taste and quality.
I had to wait for a few hours upon arrival to get a room (a bit too long in my opinion) but I got access to the Executive Club to wait. The club is nice and comfortable (even has showers to freshen up) but the food and drink selection is light.
Overall a decent place but I'm sure casual travellers could do better for value. Seems more appropriate as a hotel for business meetings.

Get your IHG membership before coming to this hotel and get access to the VIP lounge for free which has simple foods and drink most of the day. Had a small problem with my key not working repeatedly but they fixed my door and all was well. Location is walkable from the Sandton Gautrain station and they even have a shuttle if you need one. Food was good but the menu was simple. (possibly only while they fix the restaurant kitchen) Overall very satisfied.
