This place, when crowded suffers in the overall experience. Only 2 elevators when there should have been at least 3. This place has the most peculiar phone system I have ever experienced! Maybe I am just an old person who needs night school to operate the phone system. In this place I plan always to bring in my cell phone. I followed directions but could not place a call to a brother in Bluff City, Tennessee or even my own home phone in Greeneville, Tennessee. The staff at the front desk could not understand this and ultimately had to place the call to my brother in Bluff City for me and transfer the call to my room. I realized this place is undergoing renovation but there is just a slight touch of sloppiness and oldness to the place. It is like this place has seen better days. There is a certain quality that, nevertheless, endears it to me in spite of everything. I cannot drink anymore but that lounge, PLEASE!!! The restaurant with breakfast and dinner but no lunch is barely adequate. When possible, I want to eat at the nearby places. The staff and waitpersons do try hard and, in a way, do succeed. They deserve a better base to work from. I will probably stay here on my next trip to Johnson City because, all in all, you are better than the surrounding competition.

My overall experience was good. There were some maintenance problems that need to be addressed. My biggest issue was the height of the showerhead. I'm 5'8"

First arrived at hotel one person working counter very long line.
Got to room phone was broke and closet door broke they did come change out phone and attempted to fix door but did not. Dog next door to me barked all night and all morning. Rooms smell moldy and musty no towels left after room cleaned had to ask for them.. Next morning only one elevator working. I should have spent a little extra and stayed at the Hampton. Stayed at this location because it was next to the Peerless where I was having a clients retirement dinner the next night. Next time I'll just make the drive.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by christir Holiday Inn Should sell this location
This is the worst Holiday Inn I have ever experienced. I am so devastated that we ended up staying the night we checked out of this hotel in another chain because wow. We checked in and I will say Ruth Ann was very nice and attempted to help me the best she could. First of all the outside appearance is awful, this building needs serious work. We checked into the first room which the view literally is the air conditioner on the top of the adjacent building only I ask to be moved and she moved me to the 6 floor which stinks like pets and smokers. Yuck, so back to the second floor which is suppose to be remodeled. WOW. The air conditioner did work ok after the third day we were there it finally started working, still stuck with a horrible view, very upset over this. The bathtub runs over after three people take a shower and it took all day for it to drain did not get a chance to tell anyone because both trips to advise someone was on the phone for an extended amount of time. Purchased two 8 oz glasses of milk one morning and it was $6.00 and the white milk was sour. The air conditioner knob in the room is broken/missing the cover, advised Ruth Ann she advised she would let someone know, it was never fixed during our stay. We were advised our last night there at 9:30 that the pool closes at 10, I felt because we ask for towels, I did advise them the last time that yes after three nights we did know this and had yet to stay over at the pool. My biggest complaint is that upon checking out I check my credit card to find that I have been over charged $60.00 so I call the hotel to be told this is a night deposit and it will stay on for a "few" weeks. Really, I never signed anything accepting this EVER. I have my confirmation, nothing on this, I have my receipt and nothing on this. I will not return to this location ever and this is not the way I would want people to remember my hotel experience at all. Also, they accept pets (barking uncontrolled pets). We came in Saturday afternoon to nap but could not because of a barking dog. Annoying.

This is a house that probably was in its prime in the 70s and does not appear to have had any updates since. The room was spare, (and that is being kind), the carpet was very seedy and seemed to be the original. The morning meal (buffet each of two days) was dreadful; the pancakes cold, the bacon and sausage excessively greasy - no cereal that we could find. The total bill for two nights, c. $271 was over the top, and given the competition these days we will simply never go back to this very inadequate place.

My recent stay was exactly what I had anticipated. Comfortable room, good food, ease of registration and checking out!
