Love the location and the staff is great. Unfortunately we stayed the day following a strong storm and parts of the lobby and the fitness room were flooded and not useable. Also, the WiFi needs to be upgraded, as it is very slow. I would stay again simply for the location and staff however.

During a recent road trip, my son and I decided to stay at this Joplin Holiday Inn location. Based on past experience with Holiday Inn (6 nights in 5 different towns on this trip alone), it seemed to be a no brainier to book at Holiday Inn again. Unfortunately, this location came far from meeting with my normally high expectations of Holiday Inn.
From the outside and in the lobby, the facility looks clean and well kept. Unfortunately much of the rest of the facility is another story.
In short here were the challenges we had:
Room: Dingy room with musty smell. Carpet was dirty with food crumbs visible and after walking on it in socks for a while, they became black on the bottom. Furniture in the room was fairly beat up and in poor condition as well.
Beds: The beds were lumpy, hard and very uncomfortable. The mattresses seem to be long overdue for replacement.
Pool / Fitness area: Strong musty odor most likely from obvious recent roof leaks. While the pool was functional, the room was in general disrepair.
Office Center: Unusable due to overwhelming musty or moldy odor. When I walked in to use the office center, I almost couldn't breath it was so bad. After reporting issue staff evidently hung an out of service note on the door.
Out of Service issues: In addition to the office center, several other things in the hotel were broken or otherwise out of service including at least 1 elevator and 2 ice machines.
On the positive side, I will say that at least the staff seemed friendly and helpful. In fact, when the office center issue arose, a member of the staff gave me access to one of the check in computers at the front desk so I could access my work email and print a few things I needed for work.
Unfortunately, this experience was so bad that I will be notifying customer service and asking for a refund.
I will not be returning to this location, at least not until serious renovation occurs.

This was a terrible stay. When we arrived we were put into a room that was very dirty. The pull out couch which was going to be used for our kids had used dirty bedding inside with popcorn and other food smashed inside. It was disgusting. We went to the from desk and notified them. We were then moved to another room and were told that this was should be much nicer. When we arrived in this room it was not. We ran into the same problem. The bedding inside the pull out couch had dirty bedding inside this time with crushed chips and other nasty food. There was water damage all over the ceiling in this room. Inside the bathroom there was mold in the shower and they tried to paint over it. So the hotel is fully aware of the black mold growing inside of the shower. I thought that holiday in prides itself in updating all of their hotels. This hotel had not updated either room nor did they try to keep either room clean. I was disgusted by our stay. We also were excited to use the pool for our kids and the pool was closed. The kids were very disappointed. We travel a lot for sports, vacation, and many various reasons and always choose to stay at Holiday Inn. I am thinking that I may reconsider after this stay. I know I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!

The pool and workout room were both closed because the roof was leaking. The room had an old odor and the ceiling in the bathroom was peeling. My experience at this IHG hotel was not good at all.

great hotel. update the rooms, especially the bathrooms and add a hot, complementary breakfast and it'll be the ticket. Great customer service.
