Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MUCH better than last year. We (along with our neighbors) visit the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo every MLK weekend. Since we have a total of 5 kids under 12, the Holidome concept is a requirement. This is our third year staying at this particular Holiday Inn. Our first visit was phenomenal, last year was horrible, and this year was back to phenomenal (most likely due to the change in ownership and change in the way of doing business at the hotel). We had poolside rooms on the second floor. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, kids loved the pool and arcade (I think I left half of my 401k in the arcade), and the bar was filled with nice people to watch the football championships with. Some great conversations were had with other guests. The staff was extra friendly and every single staff member greeted me as they walked by, whether they were vacuuming, washing windows, changing a light bulb, etc. Lots of people working which translated into a clean well-run facility. The food was pretty darn good in the bar/restaurant, with generous portions. Decent beer specials in the bar on that day. The bar staff was a blast and kept us laughing, especially Emily. All in all, a very good experience and we'll be back. Not too happy about the "bring your own food and drink" changes coming in April, so we'll have to work on our stealth skills! January 22, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty Room/Poor Service I have mixed emotions. The room was awesome but dirty and smelled badly. The Bartender was great but the waitress was awful and food was cold. January 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just simply outstanding A great deal to do or relax. Internet was above average allowing me to work faster and enjoy the rest the property has to offer. Very nice, Highly recommend. January 11, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Last time I'll stay here My neighorbood friends and I came here for the second year in a row to celebrate New Years Eve. We loved the fact that we could all be together eating, drinking and socializing while our kids swam and danced. While last year was great, this year was a disappointment. There was a rude woman by the pool not letting anyone in or out without a wristband, we couldn't even open the gate ourselves. When she wasn't interrogating guests, she was yelling at the kids for jumping in the pool. I guess excited kids are supposed to walk in on the end. The price of the room jumped this year and then we were notified that we would not be able to bring our own food and drinks next year. The reason we liked to come was so that we could munch on snacks all night and have healthy choices for the kids and not have to rely on bar food. The hotel charges so much for the room, when they go to forcing you to pay for their food and drinks, you better take out a second mortgage to stay here. We will NOT be returning here! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dog barking in room next door Their needs to be more verification that people don't bring pets to the hotel. Waking up at 6am to a barking dog is not my idea of an alarm clock. January 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Hotel Comfortable bed, clean room. Would recommend to others. January 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great place for New Year's Eve! What a great surprise! We decided on the spur of the moment to make a reservation and check in here for New Year's Eve. We were hoping for a good dinner at Burdick's and some relaxation in the pool and hot tub. We got way more than we bargained for! There was a fun DJ, games for the kids, music and dancing, drinks of all kinds, and a great party to ring in the New Year! Definitely recommend this to friends and family for next year! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Upscale atmosphere but poor sleep We enjoyed the staff at the hotel, as they were very helpful and friendly. The room was large, although the bathroom was quite small. It was NOT a 2 person bathroom for sure. Very small vanity, and little room for toiletries. We had asked for a pool view room, and was given one on 4th floor at very far end of pool. This was good, because it was during holidays, and pool was a bit noisy. The hot tub was crowded with children, and the water was murky and cool. The pool water, was quite cool, but murky. The curtains in the room did not block light very well. I put pillows underneath, but half of the window width was still exposed at bottom. The temperature of the room was too warm for sleeping - 75 degrees and could not be cooled off. We planned on sleeping in because were fighting the flu, but were awakened twice in the morning by housekeeping, even though we had the sign on the door. I understand that this was due to a miscommunication that we had intended to stay over another night, as we were feeling quite sick. Front desk was informed about these difficulties upon our departure and apologized. Our stay was OK, but nothing I would brag about.... January 1, 2015
