I stayed at the Holiday Inn Waterpark in Kansas City February 28 - March 3, 2013. The room was clean and smelled fresh. The staff cleaned the bathroom and made the beds every day in a timely manner. The bed had a variety of pillows, from fiem to soft. The bed itself was very comfortable, and I slept very well.

I had previously stayed at this property and they had a very nice food offering, it is now a low end convenience store type food offering. The service staff was very very nice and apologetic about the food offering.
Twice in the morning the front desk clerk was sleeping soundly, this at about 630 am. There is no free coffee service in the lobby, its 4 bucks for a cup in the cafe.
Will be my last trip to this property.

* Advertised as Coco Keys Resort but upon check in we find out that we have to pay extra to use the Coco Key water area.
*Non working television in both rooms. 1st room, maintenance helped. 2nd room, nobody helped. Should we really have to work on a television in order to get a picture in?
*NO HEAT in our bedroom overnight.
*Condensation was so bad on windows we couldn't even see outside.
*Condensation on window sill was so bad it was dripping onto floor, into my sons shoes.
*Once heat was fixed we could not turn the heat down. Room was then unbearable.
* We had to ask for a new room
*Worker who brought us keys to our new room wouldn't even answer a question NOR help us move our belongings up to the 12th floor. We were treated as a nuisance.
*Lobby floor was so wet my husband almost fell. Nobody even helped or apologized
*parking lots were unplowed making finding a parking spot nearly impossible. Even the handicapped were unplowed.
*when asked to speak to management, no one was on site.
*Non working alarm clocks in both rooms
*Water temperature in shower was luke warm and fluctuated.
These are just my major complaints. There were plenty of other issues. I expected to travel 9.5 hours with kids; check into the hotel and relax. This is hands down my worst hotel/travel experience. We were vocal with asking for help and were basically ignored. Upon checkout, we once again asked for the manager and once again we were told one wasn't available. We also overheard another guest complaining and asking for the manager. Very poorly ran business.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ames0305 Great room, toliet backed up several times
I rented 3 rooms for one night. When we first checked into our room the maint man came in and said the toliet had backed up just before that. Maint. had to come to the room several times and we were only there for 1 night. Staff was cleaning the hallway carpet very early sunday morning and did not have a peaceful night. One of the other rooms the door did not lock and we did not find that out until Sunday morning so someone could have gotten into the room and taken our belongings.
The Resturant - We went to dinner saturday night in a large party (almost 20) and we waited over an hour for appetizers while only 5 of us ordered from the menu, the rest had the buffett and the Manager did take care of us but we had 2 4 your old boys that were starving waiting for a kids pizza? That takes an hour? Coco keys was nice but I will not be dining at the resturant again.
Staff was friendly but not what I would have expected from a Holiday Inn... Disappointed. Very unprofessional

The Hotel and accomodations were more than adequate
Pricing was appropriate for the facilty and level of service
Distance from major areas of interest including walmart is minimal and easy to find
Did not notice any level of security in the Swimming Area , dining hall , hallways or after hours
General public is welcome , no screening of individuals entering into the watar park with children
Although the lifeguards present an obvious presence and show great diligence in their duties of observing the safety of the swimmers , there primary focus is always on the water and its occupants , no one appears to be observing the patrons at the bar or the common sitting areas , there should be some level of modesty and appropriate behavior regulations in the presence of Alcohol and small and teenage children , I did not see this and I was there in the water park for 6 hours , Also , there is no security presence in the water park lobby.
I strongly recommend NOT eating at the water park food service location, I observed several unhealthy practices regarding the hotdogs and cheese , fingers in the plates and handing of food items and money in less than sanitary conditions,
In Hindsight I regret eating there and would not choose to eat there should I return , it would be best to leave the resort area and eat at the hotel dining area.

The room was nice and a good price. It included a 2-day pass to the indoor water park. This water park is great for young kids but if you are over 5' tall find another water park. I would take young kids here for parties or for fun days. Anyway the room and service were good and in a good location.

I've really enjoyed my experiences with Holiday Inns, up until this past weekend. Most Holiday Inns are very clean and well maintained, but I was very disappointed in this particular hotel. Understandably, with a snow storm that had just happened it would be expected to see snow on the ground and even see the occasional snow pile in the parking lot. But to have multiple small piles taking up 4-5 parking spots in an already small parking lot is ridiculous, as well as sidewalks not being cleared. Having to park in the back parking lot wouldn't have been to bad, had the one rear entrance actually worked. It's a little awkward to be a guest and be told that it will be easier to just walk through the loading dock. If I'm paying this much for a hotel, I would expect to be able to actually enter a guest entrance. Once in the room, it was noticed that there was a funny smell in the room that was very noticeable because the air conditioner wasn't working very well and continued to not work on a consistent basis. Then to be in the restroom and smell smoke on the towels or the room in general wasn't very appealing. I also understand that it's a large hotel and on a weekend there are many people there but again for the money I would hope that the room would be a little more sound proof; an example would be that we could hear the elevator from two rooms down. The front desk staff at this hotel are great to work with and very friendly, house keeping seemed to do a fine job as well. Other than that we didn't interact with many others. We had thought about vacationing in KC for the summer and staying at this hotel in order to use CoCo Keys Resort. After this last weekend we agreed that we have changed our mind about staying at this hotel for our summer family vacation.

When we first arrived at 5:00 PM, we were told our room was not ready, that we could pre-check in, and then call the front desk every half hour or so to see if our rooom was ready. While waiting in the lobby for a half-hour, I overheard several others complaining (with small children) that their rooms weren't ready either. I also didn't realize that the waterpark is not just for hotel guests but the general public as well. My children, who are teens, did not even want to go because it was overly crowded with most children being 10 and under. We had to wait quite awhile when we ate in the dining room, because (I quote this from our server# "there are quite a few people ordering room service tonight and it all comes from the same kitchen." When my husband walked out our guest to her car after dinner, he noticed that all the fire lanes were blocked with parents picking their children up from the waterpark #birthday parties). When he asked the parking attendants they said they just hoped for the best. The main parking was also taken by water park patrons and then the hotel guests had to walk quite a long way back to the hotel. I'm not ususally a complainer, but my husband did complain about this safety issue to the corporate office.

This was our second stay with Holiday Inn/Coco Key resort. The front desk ladies were extremely friendly, professional and helpful. I must admit that both stays we did experience issues with housekeeping. Our first visit, the bathrooms left much to be desired, and on our first full day there, our room was never cleaned/polished no refreshed with towels. Our second stay, we experienced an uncleaned bathroom, trash not emptied from the previous visitors, and the sink had cigarette ashes in it. Both occassions we were given complimentary breakfast which was a nice gesture, however after experiencing the same issues twice, I highly doubt I would return which is shameful because my children REALLY enjoyed themselves. On a positive note for those wanting to visit, the food was EXCELLENT in the cafe, the bartender assured our drinks were never low, the lobby area was clean and cozy but the business center had printer issues both times. Guess to eaches own what is more important as far as cleanliness when staying in a hotel. First occassion we thought perhaps a new housekeeper or simply just an error or mishap. Second occassion with the same issue leads me to think this is part of the "norm" for how housekeeping performs.

We had a pleasant experience staying at this Holiday Inn.
Our room was ready when we arrived and the staff was willing to help us with our baggage.
We had a good food experience the 3 times we ate there. The breakfast buffet was very tasty and had lots of choices. The lunches were great with good flavor and many sides. Kids ate free which was a plus. The kitchen staff was very friendly and accommodating to our needs.
The kids liked the waterpark and the pool. They never got bored.
The room was nice and clean. The beds were a little too hard for us, but the second night we slept better.
The only thing that needs improvement was the elevators. They were slow and always full. Luckily we were on the 3rd floor and could use the stairwell.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NoTaHaPpYlAdY NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!
I booked my room online as a Valentines surprise for my children so i expected it to be full of kiddos as we were going around a holiday. They charged my card 3 different times and still have not released the funds back to my card and it has been a week and a half. When we got there check-in was easy and very fast, I am positive that we waited on the elevators longer than it took us to check-in! They really need to get some more elevators, you wait almost 10-15 minutes each time! Our room was nothing special, which was fine but there was springs coming out of the sides of BOTH the mattress, which scraped my leg and ripped my pants and left a huge scrape across my 1 yr old face as she is just tall enough to walk around the bed~NOT A HAPPY MAMA! The kids in the pool area have no sort of supervision...i suggest you stay in the kiddie pool! As far as getting rest....NO CHANCE....someone on my floor locked their dog out in the hallway and let it bark all night long! I called the front desk and they did nothing about it! I will definitely not spend my money to go back there again!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DRKansas Room needs repairs
I stayed on a Saturday night and there was an event that night so the lines to check in were rather long and we were told check in was at 4, but our room was not ready until 5. There are 3 elevators going up to the rooms in the main tower but one was broken. So add this onto an already busy lobby, and the wait for the elevators was literally 10 minutes! I timed it. Then when I got up to my floor, I discovered that my room was in a different section of the hotel, which had different elevators. Then I had to wait for the elevator again! Why not walk you might ask? Because I had two suitcases. The person who checked me in did not tell me to go farther down the hall to a different set of elevators and this information was not clearly marked in the lobby. A map showing me where to go would have been a simple solution to this.
When we finally did get to the room later, the remote control for the TV would not turn on the TV. There was a leak coming out of the ventilation unit in the ceiling which created about a 2 foot diameter wet spot on the rug, right in front of the bathroom. The bathtub would not drain properly so I was taking a shower while standing in water.
I would never go back to this hotel and I would never recommend this hotel to a friend or family.

The hotel is beautiful. The staff were all so nice, friendly & helpful. I especially want to commend "Christian", the restaurant manager. He was so helpful and kind to us and very accommodating, he's an asset to your facility. We had so much fun and enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel. I have relatives living in K.C. near the train station, so there is a chance I would like to stay at your hotel again. Thank you for everything.

My experience wasn't so great. While checking in, I was told my room wasnt ready, it was after four at this time, check in is at four. I had to change rooms because there was no heat in the first room I was given. I called and asked for rolling bed, was told they were on their way but never showed up. Limited staff at dining facility. It took over an hour for my kids and I to receive our dinner. Breakfast wasn't all that good.

From check in with Angel and Daniel to the water park, breakfast buffett, and housekeeping, eveyone we met seemed very happy to be there. The hotel was full of happy children which could get on your nerves after a while but the staff seemed to enjoy all the activity. The breakfast buffett was easy to access and the manager was friendly and reasuring they have addressed any concerns from the past. The water park was clean and well staffed. Our room was absolutly clean and comfortable with a fantastic view of the stadiums. We had adjoining rooms and ordered pizza up for the kids which was a big hit. Fantastic weekend. Thank you!

Lsat hotel stay on a week long trip. Young lady checking me in was new and learning the ropes. She did a wonderful job and was very friendly...just what I needed after a long day of travels. My upgraded room was wonderful, lots of space to unwind. Wishing I would have had my family along because I had so much room.
Took time to go down to the fitness room. A bit of a hike to get down there but hey, I was looking for exercise right! All the equipment looked to be in great condition. Loved the tv's on the equipment...my health club doesn't even have those! Free weights took care of my lifting desires. Very nice room.
After cleaning up I went to the hotel bar for a couple glasses of wine and a meal. My Chicken Cesar salad was perfect and very tasty. My only gripe would have to be the cost per glass of wine. $7 for a glass of house white seems steep.
Wonderful nights sleep, very comfortable beds. Shower and bathroom facilities were clean and in good condition.
Next morning I enjoyed a made to order breakfast. Service was very good as two individuals checked in on me several times. As I was departing the dinning room host offered to watch my luggage while I ducked into the lobby restroom...very nice.
I stayed in 4 different HD properties during the week, this one was my favorite.
Keep up the great job!

Hands down this was our best hotel experience in years. Angel at the front desk went FAR out of her way to ensure we were comfortable, had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. The waterpark was a HUGE hit with the kids and Dad, too! Great location right off the interstate, yet the room was quiet; it was also spacious, immaculate and had great TV channels. And -- the Wi-Fi connection was super quick. Will DEFINITELY be staying here again next time we are in the area.

Rooms were clean and comfortable and we even got adjoining rooms as requested! Waterpark was well maintained and fun. Staff were friendly and helpful and made it feel like a truly family-friendly establishment. Only let down was the food and restaurant management which was horrible throughout. Long wait times both to get a table and then to get the food after ordering (and the order was wrong but we didn't want to wait longer for them to correct it).

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by jlw44 Great Waterpark, Ok hotel
I will start by saying the waterpark was awesome. That is the only reason I would return to this hotel. The staff was also awesome, but our room was not. The day we arrived there was what appeared to be pizza sauce on white blanket, hair in the tub and in all the corners of the bathroom floor. The heater in our room did not keep us warm at night, we turned it up to 85 and still froze. We weren't sure if it was the heater or because the windows let so much cold air in. The first night my 4 year old had spilt, brown pop on white sheets, we just put a towel over it for the night thinking they would change them the next day. I even pulled the blankets down so they would see it, but they did not change them! Overall they just need to make sure the people that clean are actually cleaning and try to give a family of 5 more then 3 towels.
