Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I'm a Platinum level member and for the first time I felt like I wasn't valued as a guest. I've stayed at many of the IHG hotels in the Mid Nebraska area. This is the first time that I really felt like I wasn't valued. I was really excited to book again at an IHG hotel. This was my first time booking since reaching Platinum Level. Every IHG hotel I've been so far, I've always felt special. When I was a Gold member, I would be greeted in a certain way and I don't know but I always felt they'd go the extra mile for me because of my loyalty. I never felt that way at this particular hotel. It wasn't that they were impolite. It was just that their interactions with me felt forced and that they would rather ignore me and not deal with me. I stayed two night. I would pass by the front desk on my way out to conduct business and there would be two people working and talking with each other and not one of them would say GOOD MORNING! or HAVE A NICE DAY!! On my check-in, I asked for a complementary upgrade to include breakfast and they made me feel really bad about it and told me that I had to pay extra money to include breakfast. I had to explain that I'm a Platinum member (even though they have access to that information), etc. Then, finally one of them says in an annoyed tone: Just give it to him!!!!! They made me feel like I was a homeless person asking for food. Such a horrible feeling about the whole experience for me. Enough to feel strongly about writing this review. Then, the next morning I ordered breakfast. Their menu does not include French Toast with cinnamon (a perennial favorite of mine which I always get at the Holiday Inn hotels that have "Best For Breakfast Banner that I've stayed). I ordered the steak (medium well) with eggs breakfast. The steak was extremely dry, REALLY low quality cut with lots of what looked like cartilage or white nasty nerves or filaments, no flavor. Living in NE where there is a lot of Beef processing facilities, there is no excuse to have good quality cuts of meat available. It was not a good value for the money. I was SO disappointed. My wheat toast was so greasy with butter, yet still tasted stale. The next morning was no better. I ordered the egg, spinach, ham and cheese omelet and yogurt and a bottle of water. The omelet was inedible. How do you mess up an omelet to the point of tasting like cardboard frozen meal? It was that bad to me. I wanted the yogurt and water to-go. I was expecting a regular yogurt container from the manufacturer and a regular BOTTLE of water. I was given yogurt in a to-go cup and water in a cup with a straw!!!?????? I was really confused and I was told that they do not have bottle of water nor yogurt in the container. In the end, I'm very glad I didn't pay for any of those breakfasts otherwise I would have felt ROBBED. Even when given free, I couldn't eat them. I will stay at another facility when I have to be in the area next time. I travel in that area often. I've stayed at the York Holiday Inn Express and at the Grand Island Holiday Inn and the Kearney Holiday Inn Express, all of those properties are top-notch: Impeccable service, I always feel welcome and appreciated, and best of all, GREAT BREAKFAST!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Nights Rest As most Holiday Inns the stay was very pleasant. The wireless internet was good, the fitness center was a fitness center instead of a non-ventilated storage room like you'd find at other hotels and the food was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were clean. No issues. December 14, 2014
