It has been some time since I have visted the K/W area (about 3 years). Upon arrival at the Front Desk of the Holiday Inn Kitchener-Waterloo, I was greeted by Eva who still remembered me. While getting my room set up, she called the Manager On Duty (Hassan) who soon appeared to greet me and welcome me back to the hotel.
Because it has been some time since staying here, I really did notice some of the great changes which have happened at the hotel. The new fitness centre looks great. Also love the new look for the breakfast buffet in the Restaurant and it's great to see you still support the local community by serving some of those great craft beer in the lounge.
I don't want to sound too overly nostalgic as every hotel has its challenges and this one is no exception. The difference here is that if ever a problem does arise they take care of it and make things right. I think this most likely has to do with the leadership and the culture which is inherently part of this hotel.
Thanks so much for the warm welcome and the friendliness of the entire hotel staff. Hope to be back in the near future.

Recently stayed here with a hockey team. I will say this, the Staff was fantastic and accommodating - Well done to the team at the Holiday inn Kitchener-Waterloo!
Day one, the furnace didnt'y work, so we froze a wee bit as it was blowing cold air. Called for service at 6:00 a.m. and someone came around 1 p.m.
Restaurant - day one was weak and disappointing - we waited a really long time for food and since we needed to get to our next game, wasn't great. We did get compensated for the delay in receiving food, so this was nice customer service, although we would have preferred it on time.
Buffet was great for breakfast in the morning and their wraps and pizzas are fantastic. Day two was a much better experience.
Close to everything, rinks, shopping, restaurants.
It was slow to start, but they turned it around and i would recommend this hotel. FYI - BEST SLEEP EVER AT A HOTEL!

Hiliday Inn Kitchener provide comfortable bed, quiet and clean room, and delicious food for me to relax and enjoy leisure time. Staffs are very kind. I'm happy and comfortable to stay there.

the hotel is always clean the staff is very pleasant and they are quick to resolve any problems you may have..i would recommend this hotel to anyone...and the hotel is not full of riff raff people . the bar reastaurant has an excellent selection of food and drink also with pleasant staff..

We had a good experience at this Holiday Inn. It's older and showing some wear, but our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was larger than at many Holiday Inns ... a great thing when husband and wife try to share the space! The beds and pillows were comfortable. The room was quiet ... nice for me since I enjoy sleeping in. My husband enjoyed the fitness room. Best of all, the staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful. The front desk staff gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant where we good get nice big salads.

Stayed in the tower portion. Although a little pricey, you can have an uninterrupted sleep as the hallways are noise free. The internet speed is quite good too.

I had booked two rooms for Friday and Saturday. I cancelled the rooms for Friday around 10 am of the friday( way before the 6pm dead line for cancellation) I even confirmed that I still had reservation for two rooms for Saturday and was advised yes. When I went to check in Saturday I was advised that they could not locate the reservation. Then was told that I had checked our earlier Saturday. I'm not sure how that is possible considering I never checked in. After speaking with the manager, I was told that there was nothing they could do and there was no rooms left. I had then found out that my credit card had been charged for the Friday. I went back to the desk and advised them of that and they said it was reversed(it is still showing on my credit card though). After seeing that numerous other people had problems with reservations and were getting free rooms at the Cambridge holiday inn, I talked to the manager again and he explained that their problems were as a result of reservations and that mine was not a reservation issue and it was a system issue. I'm not sure how either were my fault. The reason why we wanted that hotel was because it was in a good location due to Oktoberfest and we had many other friends staying at this hotel. After a long talk with the manager we finally got the same service as the rest of the problem reservations- we got two free rooms at the Cambridge holiday inn. We then had to pay the extra charges for taxis for the extra 10-15 min drive.After the manager finally gave us the rooms, I was told that I am a good sales person and negotiator. I work in the customer service industry and whether it is a result of reservation or a system glitch, you have to take accountability for your system and employees. I have never had such a bad experience at a hotel and will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Front desk staff were rude, room wasn't ready, I was there for an athletic event and didn't need the added stress. Will not recommend this particular location.

Fast and efficient check in and check out with friendly service from everyone I dealt with. Rooms are quiet and comfortable with Free Wireless Internet that worked great! I also had lunch in the restaurant, which was delicious. This hotel is a great choice overall and I will be back!

I knew it felt like home when the moment that I entered the hotel. From the smiles on the front desk staff as I was greeted at check in to the housekeeping staff who helped me with my luggage with no hesitation.
When I arrived to my room , I was impressed with the size of the room, the pillow top mattress and the large flat screen tv...ordered room service , it was here before I new it and it was delicious.
The next night I decided to go down to the restaurant , which I was a bit nervous as I was dinning alone, but that feeling went away at the moment I entered the restaurant, the service was great, staff was friendly and the food and pricing exceeded my expectations.
I would stay at this hotel over any other hotel in the Kitchener area

The front desk staff were all very helpful and pleasant. However, the room hasn't been cleaned properly. There were items left in drawers and on the nightstand. The rooms themselves are showing their age and the HVAC system is temperamental at best. My company has booked me in there several times over the past year and the elevator call buttons still don't light up. A little thing but annoying.

We were at the hotel for a wedding celebration, everything was awesome. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, every detail was thought of!!! The receptions was outstanding, the food was amazing and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The rooms were nice and spacious, clean and very comfortable! I would definitely stay there again!!!

From the confusion at check in (supposed to have upgrade but ended up in small room in the furthest corner of the hotel without elevator service) to the absolutely dreadful service the next morning at breakfast, this was probably the worst stay I have ever had at a Holiday Inn

We stayed at the Holiday Inn as our daughter had booked her wedding ceremony and reception here. The room, although small was adequate and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our room was a long walk to the lobby and therefore I would recomend spending a wee bit more and get a tower room. The food and service was exceptional for the wedding. Thank you

We have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and would return again. The staff is always great and helpful. We enjoy the outdoor pool area immensely and although it is near a noisy highway, it is still very resort-like. Our room overlooked the pool. The location is very convenient to our visits to the Kitchener Waterloo area. This time, we were attending a wedding in Cambridge and even though most of the wedding guests stayed at a hotel in Cambridge, we still chose this one because of great past experiences. Beds, pillows and furnishings are very comfortable. This time we did notice the décor to be a little tired. Time for a room renovation. It would also be of benefit to put a little more effort into landscaping and maintenance, especially around the pool area and those rooms overlooking the pool. Overgrowth and weeds were everywhere. Overall an excellent stay and we will be back in the future.

When we arrived the greeter gave me a message to make a call. When I got to the room the phone was dead. I went back to the front desk and reported this and when we got back to the room later the phone had been fixed. Good work
I was surprised that no drinking water was available in the room. I went to the ice room and got some there only after having to find 8 25c pieces to use. I am not sure if the machine takes dollars but there is no mention of it there
In the room my wife had great difficulty getting cold water from the tap in the bathroom. I tried and managed after a lot of effort. The tap needs fixing.
The TV remote needs new batteries
Lastly the Internet was almost unavailable and kept dropping. To get some service I had to stand in the corridor wher there was a good signal which was not convenient.
I do not want this published but I thought you should know. It did not reach the standard of many previous visits

The new part of the hotel looked beautiful (aside from the fact that the pool was not open in August) and I thought we were going to have a really nice room. We were put in the OLD part of the hotel (that looked like a motel) and the room was outdated and dirty. There were cobwebs on the lamps and the fridge was not cleared out. Disappointing for a Holiday Inn and the cost. Maybe the rooms in the new section were nice? I was not asked for my priority club number or aeroplan so be sure to mention it when you check in and I would ask for the new section.

The only problems with this hotel is 1) The restaurant menu really needs to change! I've been staying there for about 10 months from Monday to Friday's and I pray now that fall is coming that they will change the menu up.
2) Although it is a very clean hotel they really need to do modern reno's on the rooms! it's really out of date.
Besides those two issues I would high recommend people to stay there. I told everyone at work about how great the staff has treated me that it is now hotel of choice for most of my company's crews!!!

I had the good fortune of staying in a tower room on the top floor and it was quite nice, very quiet. The coffee ready first thing in the morning for the guests on the floor was a nice touch. Staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet as well. Will be travelling to Kitchener/Waterloo area quite often in the future and would stay here again. Upgrades to the indoor pool area appear to be nice, outdoor pool was available for use instead.

The hotel is located next to a main road that can be noisy depending on room location, and this applies to the outside swimming pool. It is an older, but updated design with pavement almost next to main floor rooms. (The hotel is similar to a 2 storey motel design, clustered around a multi-floor central building).
Check-in was indifferent, with no recognition of IHG Reward Club membership, though my reservation was ready on arrival. The smallish room was neat and clean, a room staff was cheerful and helpful when asked for plastic bags.
We did not stay for breakfast due to the cost of the buffet.

After spending 3 night at other Holiday Inn properties I came here needing to get some work done. They advertised the room had a desk with light... When I arrive the room was not to the standards of other hotels and there was no desk... Had I had time I would have changed hotels but I was too busy. My loss their gain.

The king-size bed in the handicapped room was perfect height for someone in wheelchair with minimal mobility. My husband had no difficulty getting into the bed. The roll-in shower, and drive under sink was a bonus as was the size of the bathroom for a wheelchair to get around. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We were a group of ~15 people from Jabil/BlackBerry and we all have problems with internet speed.
Very slow, not able to download files or do Skype with our families.
This is a common problem we experience at this property
