Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dissatisfied! This was an unusual stay due to the ongoing construction. Unfortunately we were not informed at the time of our booking that this extensive construction was happening. Upon arrival we inquired as to the noise factor, and was assured there would not be any workers on the weekend which proved to be wrong. Both Saturday & Sunday we were awakened at 7 a.m. by the workers who were drilling, hammering, as well as tearing out partitions in the room across from the one we had been assigned. There was an obvious odor of dust in the room as well as in the halls which made sleep difficult and unhealthy. When we checked in there was only one luggage holder that an employee finally managed to loctate for us after we had made several trips carrying our luggage etc. We have been staying at this location for over 20 years, are priority clients, so were extremely disappointed that there was no reduction in rates (providing extra points doesn't suffice), and that we were not given consideration due to this situation. Until the construction is completed I would never reccommend staying here. June 25, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bathroom water the hot water wasn't working this time and my last stay i had issues with the water being hard to adjust in the shower . i think we are being put in the rooms at the far end of the hotel because we have a good rate that we use from our company i use this hotel once a month for the pass 10 months and have had to stay at the far end of the hotel seems like a long walk lots of corners and long hallways June 22, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bathrooms need updating desperately The rest of the room was very nice, including the size of the room, the fridge, the desk work space, the TV & the bed. BUT the bathroom is desperately in need of renovation & updating. I got a corporate rate for my 1 night stay, so that was good, and I didn't have much time to spend at the hotel so it was okay. I go there once a year, so I'm hoping the bathrooms are done by next year. June 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by My first disapointment. I have been staying at this location several times and have been satisfied before this trip. The room I was in (149) is in serious need of renovation. All the walls are scratched, windows are very dirty and shower head needs replacement. There was no Service book or card in the room and no menu. Unfortunately i felt like I was staying at a low budget motel and not a Holiday Inn, certainly not the newly re-image Holiday Inn brand. The person at the reception did not even greet me as a IHG member, small details but something most business travellers appreciate. During my previous stays I was in the tower section which was nice. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looking Forward to Full Renovation I've stayed at this HI before and found the interior amenities to be quite pleasing regardless of the bla exterior. When i pulled up, there were cranes and scaffolding abound to address my latter concern. I very much appreciated the Executive Floor treatment on my prior stay, but was relegated to one of the non-renovated rooms during this stay. Big difference-surprised as a platinum member that i didn't get that opportunity again, but was already settled in the west wing before realizing the room status. June 3, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Second chance Well we had a very bad experience at this hotel last oct. Dealt with the manager and received a voucher for a free night stay including breakfast for 2. We decided to give the hotel a second chance the weekend of May 24 2014. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were disappointed to find the hotel under construction, but none the less we decided it wouldn't be that bad. We arrived early at the hotel and was pleasantly surprised to find our room ready for an early check in. Our room location wasn't ideal as it was across from the elevator, which we heard all night as not everybody is quiet at 2 am. The next morning we went to the restaurant for breakfast, which wasn't great at all. Everything was cool and tasteless. We decided to stroll the hotel, and discovered the pool was also closed. Which was very disappointing as we were never told when we booked, checked in or discussed breakfast with the lady at the front desk. I'm overall disappointed with our stay and not being informed of the construction or pool closing. Thanks for giving us another chance to be disappointed with this property. Next time we come to Kitchener we will be booking a different hotel May 28, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Work travel Room was not clean. Tub and taps were so dirty I felt I could not use the shower. Floor needed washing. Had to haul luggage upstairs. Thankfully a guest assisted me. Hallway obviously had water come in as large fan was being used to dry the carpet. Smell was awful. Very disappointed had stayed the previous night in holiday inn in Burlington. It was great. Kitchener was very disappointing May 26, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Toilet was running all night..kept me awake Reservations for a tower room were made two days in advance. I am a frequent visitor and priority member and have always stayed in the tower. Upon my arrival I was told no rooms were available in the tower and although I had requested this, my request was not guaranteed. When I made this reservation I was not told my request for a tower room was not guaranteed. I was given room 101 which was very disappointing. The room is at the back in the older part of the hotel, a long way from the dining room and lobby. The room was clean but the the toilet constantly ran all night making it difficult to get a good night sleep. I have been a guest at this hotel for many years and have never had such an unwelcoming experience. April 27, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Exceptional Staff I stayed here for a business trip and overall, a great stay. I would like to give kudos to the Housekeeping staff for really going above & beyond; I had a bottle of pop stored in the mini fridge and it exploded one morning (at 5 a.m. no less) and the mess was completely taken care of next day. I felt so bad that happened but it was cleaned up with a nice note (thanks Nikki!) Front desk was helpful and professional, no issues checking in or out. Bed was comfortable and the atmosphere was quiet; no loudness from the hallway. The only thing I personally didn't like was the room seemed really hot, but that's my personal preference. Restaurant was great, the breakfast buffet is really good and this is coming from someone who doesn't really like buffets. The smoothies...YUM. If I visit Kitchener again, I will definitely stay here. April 12, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Desperate need of a makeover I normally enjoy staying at HI's and even HIE's however this one was more dated that the last 10-15 I've stayed at. Thermostat in the room didn't seem to hold temperature, shower head was full of calcium and ring around it was broken (and rusting underneath, room had strong smell of chemicals and the list goes on. Staff were always friendly so it seems like it's the owner's turn to fix that place up. April 11, 2014

The staff were very friendly, efficient, and happy to assist guests. The hot breakfast buffet was lovely, great quality food, lots of variety. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 1st night / Monday Feb. 24, 2014 The front staff was delightful and helpful being new to the area. Late that night I extended my stay using IHG app. In the morning I went to the front desk to advise them that I extended by one night and could I stay in the room I had been assigned the night before. The woman said "no I'm sorry your room is reserved for that night" but I will get you your new room assignment, come back and see me after your breakfast. I was relocated to an old section of the hotel that was quite antiquated. The next morning I went into get my breakfast and found out that it was not included in my room rate. Later I found out that the only reason I was moved out of the main hotel is because when I made the 2nd reservation I failed to click on the room that included breakfast in the rate. If the woman had just told me that Tuesday morning I would have gladly paid for breakfast! February 28, 2014

Staff take the time to notice the little things that make your stay that much more rewarding. Stayed for a training class for 4 days. Food was excellent in the meeting room.
