Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 An updated 1970s hotel The updates to the rooms are attractive, but.... When they updated the rooms they made the hotel "green," so you have to leave your key card in a wall slot to work the heat/AC. That's fine and dandy unless you want to lower the temperature. Instead of the heat just not kicking on for a while the AC kicks in. Not a good alternative. They left the old wall heat/AC units in, so it's noisy and the drapes blow all night. The place does not have sound proof glass, so it's noisy even on the 9th floor. The food in the restaurant was typical hotel fare. The breakfast staff was WONDERFUL (thanks, Michelle for being terrific). The dinner staff basically ignored us. The meeting rooms were a little claustrophobic -- I can't imagine they can actually be divided into smaller incarnations. October 27, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not that great for the price Arrived early, told room will be ready between 1:30 and 2:00, come back at 2:30, told room won't be ready till after 3:00. Tiny bathroom, horrible view of parking lot. To top it off they charged the wrong card! They billed me on the credit card I booked the room with online, not the one I gave them on arrival and when I checked online it showed a double charge (the second charge was removed the next day before I could call to complain). Overall: not that great and an unimpressive staff. October 25, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 It's all about location Very close to downtown, in a very pleasant setting is the best thing about this Holiday Inn. Very helpful and attentive staff on check in. The hotel seems primarily geared to conventions, conferences and events as might be expected given its location so lacked a bit of life on the Sunday night we arrived. The breakfast on the executive floor was of poor standard and the actual breakfast area environment could have been better and cleaner. We were unsure whether the 'hostess' was there to help us or to make sure we didn't make off with extra supplies - it was that kind of atmosphere. No problems with wifi for my laptop but my wife's i-pad would not connect despite the best efforts of the staff. If you are looking for a hotel close to downtown Knoxville this is pretty good October 24, 2014
