Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for what we needed The staff was very helpful and nice. We had a larger room, the master suite, I think, and it was very nice and spacious. The mattress was very uncomfortable but we didn't complain so the staff was not given a chance to correct it - we just chalked it up to hotel beds are not comfortable and sucked it up.The Jacuzzi tub was a huge bonus. I felt a little deceived once we saw the pool as it looks nothing like the pool in the picture. It was still ok for us and our needs so it wasn't a big deal. We knew we weren't staying at a resort. The business center was also a lifesaver for us and so easy and convenient to use. Everything worked! The location is excellent as it is is so close to the freeway but you would never know it once you are on the property. There are also many stores and restaurants within walking distance. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family Reunion 2013 Exceptional service, friendly and resourceful. The General Manager and the entire team are friendly and made it fun! At one point, the rooms reserved were switched around which cause some confusion with the family. (This was not hotel's fault). The front desk agents worked diligently to resolve the issue. I received a call form one of the Front Desk Agents during our picnic just to let me know all had been resolved. The entire staff is wonderful; housekeeping and engineering personnel are very helpful and friendly and always acknowledged people in the hotel. All my family members enjoyed their stay and want to stay here next year again. We plan to schedule rooms for next year again. Thank you very much for making our family event enjoyable and relaxing. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I was hoping for Choose this location due to it's proximity to Seaworld and LEGO Land. Upon check-in I was already disappointed, as I didn't receive the usual water / snack for being a Rewards Club Member. Also didn't receive a food voucher for the attached restaurant like I did at a different Holiday Inn. Room size was as I expected. Though carpet was filthy, toilet seat was broken, and the outlet in the bathroom was broken, requiring me to dry my hair in the room (didn't use built in dryer). Gym was poor. One treadmill shut down for no apparent reason while I was running on it. Second treadmill had an issue, but was able to use it. Good point was the proximity to downtown San Diego and Seaworld. Also there were several fast food places in walking distance. July 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice clean room - a bit noisy Pros: The room was big and clean and beds were comfortable. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. All the bedding appeared clean. Good strong AC, which I ran all night. Lots of easy parking. Lots of hot water for the shower, hair dryer supplied. Cons: Don't expect to sleep past 7:00 as the maids come crashing down the hall at that time and make no effort to be quiet. The room had a small fridge, but it rattled and made noise all night. The pool is out in the corner of the back parking lot - a joke. The fitness center, as far as I saw, is two treadmills jammed into a tiny room and nothing else. The television was small and the menu awkward. There was only enough creamer and sugar for two cups of coffee. No kitchenette - the coffee pot is in the bathroom. A comfortable room to spend the night, but a bit expensive for what they offer. July 12, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Broken AC and UNCOMFORTABLE replacement room This was our 2nd visit to this hotel. The 1st visit exceeded expectations by far... room was HUGE, beds were super COMFORTABLE, service was AMAZING and ATTENTIVE. Based on our 1st stay, we choose this hotel over staying in MIssion Valley, which was closer to the event we were in town for. This trip I paid more for a room that was smaller than the 1st trip. When we first got into room, I check to make sure everything was in order...NO SHOWER CURTAIN in the bathroom, but that was an easy fix. The room was hot and stuffy so we turn the AC on to cool down the room. We fall asleep to wake up to a wet floor near AC. We try to knock the chill off the room, hit the heat, and smoke and horrible smell come from the AC unit and even set off the smoke alarm in the room. Im 5 months pregnant and the smell was too bad for me to even remain in the room. I went downstairs, spoke with front desk only to be told, they were completely sold out of rooms, can we send maintaince up to check it out. I tried to be agreeable, maintiance said the room smelled pretty bad, so my spouse goes to front desk. He comes back with keys to the Handicapp Accessible room..which is great if you are in a wheel chair! The beds were an irregular size and not as comfortable. I was disappointed in the handling of this matter...doubt I stay here again! July 12, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall a nice place to stay Cons are that the pool is really small. I also did not like the pillows, however I found that these are the same pillows in virtually ALL Holiday Inns. Our room only had a shower, no tub. May or may not be a problem for some people. It is also rather complicated to get to from the freeway. Seems to be in a nice, clean, safe area. June 29, 2013

They had knowone on the premises to take care of this so we were miserable ALL NIGHT in a HOT room. The morning of checking out we told them and they said so sorry for the inconvenience and did nothing to make it better. We were appalled at there attitude but I guess that what you get from Holiday inn...Why would we ever go back June 28, 2013

Not only was the room great, but everyone behind the front desk (and at the Mesa Grill) was positive, cheerful, and helpful, answering questions to help this out-of-towner find one needful place or another (a grocery store, a coffee shop, a drugstore). The location was splendid (easy access to I-8), but I did not hear any annoying freeway or street noise. So it was a relaxing venue, and I would definitely stay here again! June 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Great Stay! Stayed at this hotel for 45 days straight and the rooms were quaint, definitely not bad for the value. A few minor annoying maintenance issues with the second floor exit door slamming shut everytime someone entered exited Restaurant. Took me a few weeks to learn about their resturant, which is not really inside the hotel but within the same compound (guess if I walked around I could have found an entrance to the hotel without walking outside, across the parking lot. Food. Food was great, and relatively low priced. Franky and Shonda, both great bar tenders, they were always busy (according to Franky...lol), but they made me feel at home every time. Geographic Location. Great Location, just a short walk to a 7 Eleven and a Shell (for snacks) and next to some of the best tacos i've tasted in San Diego, shot out to "Titos Taco Food" (5257 Baltimore Dr, La Mesa). Cleaning. I would recommend a "non-allegeric"-type feather dusting, at least every other day, once again, I was there for 45 days and never seen a dusting. June 17, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Several disappointmentds First had to change rooms, carpet wet by the air conditioner. I thought someone was going to help me, but did not. Took two phone calls to get a key and room number brought to me. Then was relaxing in a chair reading and watching TV and going by the clock next to the bed when to get ready to go out when the TV showed the time when I changed the channel. I then realized your clock was 20 minutes later then real time and was late. The light bulbs in bathroom were terrible, two different kind of bulbs and not light enough to put on mkake up. I did tell front desk and she comped my breakfast and reduced the rate of room by 15%. June 16, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff and management are very helpful I've stayed here 6 times in the last 8 months - and the service continues to improve. Gary, a manager, and Andrey, a desk representative, and all the other reps were wonderful to me during these stays. Room was clean, bed comfortable, good water pressure, large flat-screen tv and quiet...and a very convenient location. The La Mesa restaurant is simple -but the staff is great and very sensitive to the guest's needs. Having the business center and the washer-dryers also made the stay much more stress-free. Some issues with the in-room internet, but I think they were changing their providers, so that happens. June 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staff was good at fixing things when brought to their attention We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights because it was close to some relatives we were visiting. Hotel room had a musty smell, there were not any other available suites for us to move to. We were collecting our empty water bottles in a bag that was mixed in with our snacks, the bag of bottles disappeared the 1st day. They had to go through our bags of things on the table to find the bag of bottles. We did not feel safe leaving items in the room after that. Pool was dirty, had trash floating in it the 1st day. It did stay clean after that day though. I was advised I would get points for this stay, to my surprise we received 0 points for the stay. Fold out couch had dirty sheets with crumbs and hair all over it. Staff did bring up clean sheets and blanket right away when we told them about this. Hotel staff was really good about bringing us extra towels whenever needed. Rates were a little high to not offer a continental breakfast. June 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Choice I stayed at this Holiday Inn for business and felt well taken care of. The staff at the desk and the restaurant were very attentive and extremely friendly. The room was on the backside of the hotel- and very quiet. The girl at the desk had recommended this side, as I am a light sleeper and wanted the quietest area. Breakfast was very good. I would say that it is more like an upper scale Denny's or IHOP, as far as the options. But the food is much better. I did not have dinner there but had a few drinks with a colleague at the bar. The bar tender was great! The only con is that the internet was slightly slower than I find at other hotels. The Manager informed me that they were installing new equipment and upgrading the speed. That will make my next stay perfect. See you guys in June! June 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awsome well what can i say about this place from walking in the front desk was busy on telephone but didnt rush customer on phone or me. he handled everything professional and i didnt feel ignored. when we arrived to our room we recieved a phone call to make sure all was welll the room was beautiful and with alil candle here and there it was this romantic. the bed was comfortable the pillows made us want to go out and buy A PAIR JUST LIKE THEM. the bathroom was sooooo nice love the jacuzzie suite. it was very clean and also reminded me of a 1BEDROOM APARTMENT... i would deff. go again. the chinese food close did delivery. juist perfect i tell ya.. :) May 22, 2013

I did not receive the room I had requested even though I was told how to book the room to increase my chances, however, I was told that it was not a guarantee. However, it was a weekday night and the hotel did not appear busy. The restaurant food was good. I arrived early in the am and was one of the only people in the restaurant. Service was just OK. So we had to get separate rooms and my spouse and I had to sleep seperatley with the kids. The hot tub was not working and the restaurant was horrible. Did not have bacon or waffles, had to wait an hour for food and we were the only ones in there. One highlight was the bartender at night during the week. All in all for a quiet easy located hotel,that is affordable then this is it. May 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Soured us from staying at Holiday Inn again Maybe we expected too much. We booked this Holiday Inn when we had a death in the family. We don't know San Diego area at all and just tried to get semi-close to the mortuary. Disappaointed in the food at the grill attached to the hotel. Then we tried a breakfast and there were no clean tables or anyone available to clean them. Needless to say we went somewhere else. As far as our room, the lighting was so dim even with every light on we felt like we were in the dark and I had a hard time doing hair and makeup for that very important event. Beds were not comfortable at all. But I have to say again the lighting was the worst thing.. May 5, 2013

They are always extremely helpful and cheerful! The rooms are really nice and have no complaints there however it would be nice to have a microwave in the room, or a place where you can heat your food (maybe in the vending area?) I have email confirmation from my original reservation with the original price I was told I would pay, hopefully they will correct this mistake. The rooms were worth the price I was quoted, but definitely not worth the almost 50% extra I ended up getting charged. April 5, 2013

Only areas to improve would be fitness center--kinda lame and I had to go to a commercial fitness center with family I was visiting rather than work-out in the hotel in the morning before visiting.
