The rooms are very dark and gloomy. They really need to be updated. I have stayed there several times over the years because of the location. I was also surprised by my bill since I felt the price was much less on line when I booked it. Air conditioner very loud

The hotel accommodations and staff were great - everything was clean and up to date, and staff were friendly and helpful. However, the facilities appeared comparable to those that charge half as much for a one-night stay. With that in mind, it was right downtown, near to multiple areas of interest.

This is one of the worst Holiday Inns that I have ever stayed at. The halls and common areas were dirty, room was dirt and in disrepair. The bed had a very uncomfortable mattress that had a low spot in the middle and my wife and I kept falling into the low area. HVAC was loud. Bathroom was nasty. Pool and hot tub were brown and something in the water made my kids itch. The staff was rude. I will never stay at this location again and will let anyone that is thinking about staying to travel to Hampton Inn or up to Winona to stay.

So I decied to bring my wife on a work trip with me and to stay down town La Crosse so we could walk around. The rate was higher than normal, so I figured it should be a nice hotel.
Got into the room and it smelled musty, figured the AC would help, the AC made so much noise and really didnt even cool the room much. So I take a shower in the morning and the water is draining slow. When my wife uses the toliet it wont flush, plus the water is still in the tube. She calls down to have them fix it. They come up to room and tell us this happens in this room very often. I get back and the room stills smells musty. The sink in the bathroom has been painted, the decor of the entire room is depressing and very dark as some of the lights do not work. The mini fridge did not get cold. Couch was uncomfortable, internet was the slowest I have seen in a long time. Ok, location is great however a bad room does not make up for it. So the night before we are to check out I am getting ready to ask the front desk person a question however there is someone in front asking a few questions. The person at the front desk was not taking the person on front of me serious and just keep telling him uh ya, uh ya well look into that. Then he told the customer that they are currently having staffing issues as they are firing allot of people right now so the manager is busy. (Gets better) Wrote some notes down, the guys phone number and such then once the person let he tossed it in the trash with a very smug attitude. Then I ask for a late checkout as a PC member. I was told they would charge me if I wanbted to do that and he couldnt do that I would have to see the moring office staff at 8am, I told him normally this is not a issue, he didnt say anything. My wife was standing right there and was very upset, same as me. Last time I ever stay there as well as my travel dept has been made aware. I am guessing this is allowed to go on because of managment, everything rolls downhill. Could be wrong.

I travel to La Crosse for business often and typically stay across the street from this hotel. Given my IHG membership, I decided to try the Holiday Inn and immediately regretted my decision after check in. The room was outdated, I could hear a screeching sound every time the room next door used their water and the hotel gym was small, hot and had no water. I'll be returning to the other hotel upon on my next visit to the area.
