Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable accommodations but unfavorable parking Didn't like that there was no parking available unless you paid. Though that would be included with the room. Comfortable accommodations otherwise. April 4, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stay in La Crosse The pillows are small, the bed was hard. The room beside me was noisy and I complained about it and management and they took care of the noise. The parking situation is a disaster! Having to move my vehicle because other people took designated spots is ridiculous! The Holiday in parking needs to be more clearly marked and the punishment for using the incorrect spots needs to be better marked to reduce the general public from using the Holiday Inn parking. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Attention to detail The cleaning person who serviced my room left finger prints on the back of the bathroom door. Since they were present when I arrived there is no telling how long they were there. I think it was powder but don't know for sure...it might have been his/her fingerprints after cleaning! I left a note so hopefully it was taken care of after I left. The 'maid' also didn't leave me any tea, just coffee. As a tea drinker I was disappointed and went down to the front desk to get some. They were out, so I had to ask in the resturant. Since they didn't charge me I was content. Overall my stay was pleasant. The room was nice and comfortable, although next time I need to remember to not be near the parkinglot as I could hear activity outside my window which woke me up during the night. March 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice place Other than a weird $3 charge for parking, it's a great place. Comfortable, clean, quiet and perfectly located. March 21, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Underwhelmed by check out staff This property is older but outwardly appeared to have been updated. Everything went well until I attempted to have a relaxing morning shower before an important meeting, The water to the bathroom was what I would describe as lukewarm. At first I thought the scald protection was not set properly on the bath/shower faucet but the bathroom sink had the exact same temperature. No matter how long you ran water, with the controls to maximum temperature, all you could get was lukewarm water. What totally underwhelmed me was the response I received from the desk staff as I checked out. No apology, no offer for any remuneration to make up for a poor stay and no consideration that this is not acceptable especially for a priority club member. The only thing I received was a thank you for making them aware of it so they could notify maintenance. I have traveled extensively for more than 30 years. This situation could occur at any facility at any time as systems can fail. It is up to the lodging service provider to ensure the satisfaction of their brands loyal customers. I probably won't give up on Holiday Inn but I will never recommend or stay at this particular property again. March 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Experience Clean, well maintained convenient parking and centrally located. The day I arrived the hotel had began a $3.00 per night parking fee. $3.00 is no big deal however, would have been nice to have been told upfront when I made the reservation. I like most who will read this do not like surprises especially when they reach into my wallet. Overall a good experience and I would stay again. March 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service `We were delighted with our service in the bar in the evening as well as at breakfast the next morning. The food was good, the coffee hot and plentiful, a morning requirement. The staff was friendly and helpful. March 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay Nasty snowy day and a 5 hour drive in a blizzard. I was glad for the covered parking garage to pull into. The staff was great and the room was even better. I will be staying here in the future. March 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service Even though I only stayed for one evening, I was treated with the utmosts courtesy and kindness. I would recommend Holiday Inn La Crosse to anyone going there. January 12, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dec. 30-31, 2012 We were extremely disappointed in this Holiday Inn. The accommodations were very beat up and used. The hallway had such a distinct odor. There was dust on our tables, dirt in the corners, counter top strip missing, etc. We closed our eyes and made it through the stay. Would not recommend this place to anyone! Not worth the price we had to pay for the one night. (The other night was on our holiday inn points...also not worth it!!) January 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great room and people The hotel was great. Staff was very helpful Had to use the sofa bed and it was also comfortable. The only complaint was that there appeared to be only one of the two elevators working, and it was busy so wait times were lengthy. January 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Location, Location, Location This hotel is within walking distance to everything. Great restaurants, laCrosse center, & the river. Ther is also great shopping right down the street. Favorites are Coney Island, Fayzes,, Wine Guys, Helms Bar. The staff is wonderful & very helpful. January 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay I met my daughter and granddaughter at this hotel and we had a great time. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room was clean, although not as large as we would have hoped. We loved that the hotel was in walking distance to restaurants, shops and other attractions. Great visit and we will definitely be meeting here again! January 2, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Room key fiasco The first room key I was given did not work. I went back to the front desk to get another one. It worked, but someone was in the room assigned to me. Back to the front desk. I was given a room key for another room that did not work. Back to the front desk. This time, the key worked, but it was a much smaller room, although I was told they were upgrading me for my inconvenience with the rooms. Back to the front desk for a 4th time! This time, the key worked and it was the size room I was promised. Unfortunately, it was one of their rooms that had not been remodeled yet and was very beat up. Since I was only there 1 night and had to leave very early the next morning, I took the room. But was not very happy. If I have to go to La Crosse in the future, I will seek other accommodations. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel, but food is lackluster & boring The hotel is very comfortable & clean. However, if looking to dine, I highly suggest going out. There are many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Every time I stay @ La Crosse Holiday Inn, I find myself eating at the hotel restaurant, partly because I'm exhausted and partly because it's convenient. Every time I'm done with dinner though, I tell myself how I shouldn't have wasted the calories & how I should have just walked somewhere else. I've stayed @ Holiday Inns that have the Green Mill chain, which proves to be a much more desirable & tasty place to eat. Also, other chains will offer Priority club members $4 off a drink vs LC, which offers buy 1 get 1, most times I do not want 2 drinks. December 19, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay Perfect location, River Walk was lit up with spectacular Christmas light display! Room clean, updated, and spacious (even with rollaway), beds comfortable, staff pleasant, parking garage convenient (just a 3 dollar charge), did not use fitness center or pool, terrific restaurants nearby, Fayzes always worth the wait. Busters restaurant onsite had fantastic individual pizzas. December 7, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and great service. Everything from the location, to food and beverage service, to hotel staff support was wonderful. I enjoyed my stay immensely and will be back the next time I am in LaCrosse. Thank you. November 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fantastic stay and amenities Our recent trip to this Holiday Inn was by far the best trip we have had in a very long time! We got a fantastic rate, and our room was far superior in amenities compared to other rooms we have stayed at in more expensive price brackets. The overall value was so incredible that we would definitely stay here again without hesitation and would certainly recommend it to anyone! Location is great, close to everything in the busy area of entertainment in LaCrosse. Our only "complaint" is that it was a "river-view" suite, and granted, you could see the river from the room, however it was grossly obstructed by the view of a huge and ugly building between the hotel and the river. That was a bummer, however we quickly forgot about it after a few drinks and a long simmer in the jacuzzi ;) November 15, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible front desk experience. My four colleagues and I made reservations at this hotel for a conference we were attending. At the time the reservations were made, our office faxed a credit card authorization form with our corporate card information, which the hotel promptly lost. When we arrived, we were forced to put our personal cards down to secure the rooms while our office re-faxed the form. We were assured that our personal cards would not be charged for the rooms. I verified later with the front desk that they'd received the authorization. When we checked out, our personal cards had been charged. I had to spend 15 minutes arguing with the front desk about this, and they STILL couldn't find the form my office had faxed TWICE, which they'd confirmed that they had. They also refused to let two colleagues who arrived separately from me check in without my "permission", which I had already given at the time I checked in. Additionally, every time I had to contact someone at the front desk, they were rude and short with me, in spite of the fact that the difficulties I was having were caused by them. The accommodations were also shoddy - the "digital" temperature control totally did not work - there was no real way to adjust how much heat was pumped into the room, so the temperature was never comfortable, and the bathroom ceiling was peeling and cracking apart. I recommend that anyone looking for a comfortable, hassle-free night stay away from this hotel. November 14, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor I understand that this hotel is located in a college town, but in my experience there are things that I've come to expect from a hotel. You have failed miserably at these October 26, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and friendly staff. The staff was very accomodating. They were able to copy our wedding programs for us on Saturday morning for a Saturday afternoon wedding. The restaurant was wonderful for our present opening on Sunday morning. Allowed us to use the bar area when we wete frinished with breakfast to open gifts. The room was comfortable and the pool area was great. October 26, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home away from home This staff and hotel make you feel like you are at home and as comfortable as possible. October 23, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Walk into a reaity show This facility has been going down hill for years, I have stayed at this location on and off since 2001. Most recent experience and the last straw at this location was walking down from the second floor entrance and walking into what I was told later was a reality program shoot. No warning to people entering the lobby or request just walk in and your in the shot. Then I was approached later by someone stating that I needed to sign a release form. Forget this place and stay away. Then there were five parking spots taken in the parking lot for the vans of these people shooting the videos. Must be nice as I drove by several times and NEVER saw more than two vans present at any one time. Also while checking in the head of HK threw dirt from a can on the floor behind me and made rude remarks about guests. The room was in very poor condition, paint peeling, bathroom dirty and the carpet was in horrible shape. I am a Platinum member and I will NEVER stay at this location again. I will drive more than an hour if needed. October 17, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ebenezers My only complaint is the bar maid at Ebenezers. We asked for directions to a restaurant and she sent us in the wrong direction and we ended up 8 blocks away when the restaurant was actually 1 1/2 blocks away. She was quite rude when we asked.... I'm sure she thought that was funny. The hotel was wonderful....alittle overpriced but I guess since it was Octoberfest, you had to raise the price. The employees at check in were very nice. October 15, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Downtown location is a plus. Good location for events, business and access to University. If more care and attention were given to the upkeep and general maintenance of the the rooms, the experience would likely be better. That said, the staff was very accomodating with room change requests. October 14, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Service From Entering Lobby To start I drove into parking lot and six parking spaces in a very small lot are reserved for some media unit which requires you to park in the adjacent parking structure. No real issue except that the entire time I was at the location no more than two spaces were occupied. Then after walking down the stairs to enter the lobby to check in I walk into an active shoot with a reality tv show, or so Iam told. First there was no warning sign in the entrance to the lobby warning of the shoot nor anyone else warning you, you walk out and into this clown circus of an event. I check in and the whole time, unknown to me, they are shooting and someone from HouseKeeping throws dirt all over the floor behind me and bad mouths people that come into the hotel. Then as I am walking to the elevator someone who does not identify himself walks up to be and says that I need to sign this consent form. Yeah right, I gave no one any right to use me in a shoot. This hotel has fallen apart over the past several years. I have stayed at this hotel for 11 years and early on it was clean and well maintained. Now it is filthy dirty and not well maintained at all. The bathroom was dirty, an attempt to cover the poor conditions of the sink was peeling off, the shower was dirty and the carpets were filthy. They finally applied some form of a cover to the elevators to cover the poor condition of the brass and wood walls but looks cheap. I have found another hotel that is well maintained and close by and is my new home in this city. Clean, nice lobby and no one confronting you in the lobby as well as plenty of parking. I am a Platiunum member for several years and normally do not have issues with Holiday Inn brands but this location needs to change. October 1, 2012
