Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Could have been a better experience. PRO: On arrival checked in. by Alissa (?) could be Alessa was warm and very helpful. Her co-worker maybe not so much. Justin in the bar was like the super hero of service in a very under staffed bar. Housekeeping was respectful of our privacy and very eager to make certain we had everything we needed. So, what could've wrong? I was told that my previous stay in February was not awarded to my account. I wonder what that's about. It was a fanatastic stay in Panama City FL this year. I have stayed at others over time as well. We stayed on a weekend. There was a group of 2 different weddings and the remaining guests. One wedding group managed a very workable group of tables away from the door and with a lay out that made it easy to visit with one another. Perhaps they made plans to achieve this, don't know. When we "losers" haha came in there was an obvious space at the the bar and smaller surrounding area. There were some 30 or so of us, mostly staying at the Inn seeing one another in some cases for the 1st time in 20 years. It was a difficult area to navigate away from. We were say 5 deep at the bar and we were enjoying one another AND ordering. We were made to feel unwelcome by the attitude of some of the wait staff because we were in the way. There was no one to step up and organize the group to a different space to be serviced. Most wanted and needed food but finding someone to serve us was very difficult. Finally I organized a group of about 20 people to tables off to the side and found Justin to serve us. He was fantastic! It took quite some time to get our food. It just seemed as if the venue was unprepared, in spite of the fact that they knew we were coming. Hollering at a group of paying adults because they are in the way is not a great way to make a group feel welcome. Surely they have had groups before and prepare for the possibility they will end up at the bar, the only place to go to for socializing and food. There was coffee in the room that was better then most hotels but when it was time for breakfast things went down hill. The bar is the only eatery and did not open until 7am. Those of us on EST that was disappointing as was the menu. Again our wait staff was very gracious. Between the desk and the bar is a wonderful gas fireplace to meet up with friends. To the side are several u shaped areas as well, but no TV. So, when waiting for the bar/restaurant to open for breakfast that was disappointing. On the 2nd evening this is where we gathered and everyone really were able to visit. Finally, the elevator, or lack there of. Just at the height of the wedding transportation time both elevators began to malfunction. There was a women at the desk that told us it was ok. It was working most of the time. When I looked at her incredulously a very wise young gentlemen offered us the service elevator. We chose the steps to get down and found it opened to the far outside of the lobby and ran around the building to the front in the rain, to catch the bus for the wedding. Our bus driver was wonderful! The next day both elevators were down. Repair was slow and was completed in time for our departure on Monday. Room Tip: Stay on the end, it is quiet. See more room tips Green Features: We were offered the reuse of your towels and sheets. I looked for recycle trash for bottles and cans but did not see any.
