Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Paul1962a Ok But may need a makeover
Was OK but the room looked a bit tired and not up to the standard of some of the IHG hotels I have stayed in recently.
The was no executive lounge facility. which I think is a really useful facility as a gold member I object to having to pay £1 for a bottle of water when I am used to soft drinks, some snacks and coffee for free at other holidays inns. Although I was registered as a gold member none of the privileges were on offer or mentioned without me asking.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by hpsd Great location for heading north/south
Located seconds from the motorway, perfect stopover if heading to Scotland from the south. Gets you past the traffic of the south and midlands, ready to start your break.
Hotel is pretty normal Holiday Inn fayre, that is comfortable, clean, pleasant staff, and everything you need from a full service hotel. Room service was standard HI menu, cooked well and served promptly.

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Especially the older gentleman porter with glasses who brought our breakfast to our room and extra milk etc, he was very prompt and couldn't do enough so nice to meet excellent staff like him, if possible would this be passed on to him

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by John379 Cold room noisy road
Rooms are comfortable and clean but are cold we couldn't get the heating to work we were told it comes on at 8pm but with blackout curtains covering the radiator seemed pointless. On the day of checkout housekeeping we're knocking at the door at 8 10 in the morning we told her we were checking out that morning around 10 so she came back at 9 so we left feeling like you were being pushed out

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by LondonNick Midnight arrival but no cot!
Holiday Inn Lancaster is ideally placed 4 hours drive from London on the way up to the Lake District. I chose the hotel because of the location, the good value breakfast for children and for the children to burn some energy in the swimming pool.
I arrived with my wife and two boys at midnight therefore keen to get straight to bed. Despite stating in our online booking that we required a cot for our 1 year old and telephoning the hotel as we left London to ensure that the cot was set up, there was no cot in the room. We made the same trip a year ago and the same thing had happened, although last year they quickly brought us a cot. This year was worse as the night staff couldn't find keys to get into the cupboard with the cots. But the night staff didn't come to tell me this problem so 15 minutes after I had made the call down to reception I went down to be told there was nothing they could do and that a cot was not on my original booking! When I protested the night staff brought out a baby pen from the health club - so we used that!
Upon checkout the day staff confirmed that our booking clearly stated the cot had been requested. So not only had the room staff failed to provide the cot in the first place but the night staff lied to me about my booking!
The only reason I have rated the 'Staff and Service' score as fair is because the night staff eventually did solve the problem and the breakfast staff were excellent.

Stayed here twice in 10 days. On my second visit I was on nightshift & the third floor was very noisy while I was trying to sleep. The noise was from cleaners, maintenance & sub contractors. Reported situation several times to reception to no avail. After the fourth visit to reception I finally got to speak to the housekeeping manager who sprung into action & got me moved to a different room on a different floor which was a lot quieter. I had informed reception at check-in that I was a nightshift worker & required a quiet room.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Chrsay Declining hotel
We used to use this hotel quite frequently but after a recent stay we were rather disappointed. The hotel has always been popular but they appear to be relying on this. A comment from a member of staff that dirty towels were down to the laundry and not the hotel was rather disappointing to hear. In our humble opinion it is a hotel concern. It is a useful stop over for those using the M6. We do hope somebody can turn it around as it used to be a great hotel with very caring staff. IHG group Platinum members should also be aware that we were informed by the staff that this hotel was not providing free internet access at the time of the stay but it was available at a rather pricey hourly rate. You may wish to check this at the time of booking - hopefully this has been rectified.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JaneyC13 Clean, Comfortable & Friendly
We chose this hotel being close to the Motorway, for an onward journey to the Lakes but were pleasantly surprised to find we wanted to stay longer and explore the city of Lancaster. Not particularly on a tourist map, the old city and alleyways around the castle held plenty of stories within them. The hotel was immediately inviting as the friendly reception staff on arrival were clearly happy and helpful. The room was spacious and clean and easily accessible with a warm fresh decor. It is only a 5 minute drive from the city with plenty of parking at both the hotel & the City centre. It is also only a 15 minute drive onto Morcambe Beach, and 45 mins up to Grassmere where we were heading. I use Holiday Inn regularly but this was certainly one I would go out of my way to stop at again.

Nice hotel, spotlessly clean, great walk into Lancester, nice walking and cycle path. Breakfast plentiful.
Downfall beds to hard, having to pay for wifi disgusted. Cheaper if you are a Reward customer. Food prices expensive. Aimed at buisness people.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quaker Great room, great service but no cold drinks
A warm welcome on arrival, the room looked good but there was not bottled water - something we have come to expect as a frequent user of Holiday Inns.
The hotel has great facilities with a good size pool and a useful gym.
the best thing about our stay was the excellent staff who looked after us really well.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by claharpet No free wifi
Stayed for two nights over bank holiday weekend and was surprised that it appeared quiet over this period.
Choose this hotel as it had swimming pool/spa and close to motorway, this was my last weekend away with family before having our second child -due soon.
Found beds to be too small and very firm, was very uncomfortable, room temp good though and room was clean and tidy.
Lobby/bar/restaurant clean and tidy and staff pleasant.
Swimming pool used by myself and family and enjoyed this part of break.
Break away was satisfactory but I think that my family and I would have enjoyed it better if wifi was free as our 9 year old wanted to access games etc on his devices but could not as I was not going to pay for this, the hotel and pub across the road offered wifi free so afternoon was also spent there, feel that the holiday inn would have more custom from us if wifi free. Also sky was broke in bar area so husband could not watch football in hotel and again we went out to local pub to watch this.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Khalid007 Good hotel but a little outdated
Great location to Cumbria and the room are nice and big, but the overall hotel has a rather outdated feel inside and out, needs uplift.
Staff and facilities are good with excellent pool, sauna and steam room.
The breakfast was a bit disappointing with the food looking and tasting like it had been there for several hours, the coffee was good enough to power my diesel car :) it had been brewed and heated too many times.
Overall good value but hotel needs to refresh and breakfast needs to improve.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jamie63 Really friendly staff and great service
Stayed at the Holiday Inn Lancaster for one night as a base for a couple of days in the Lakes, one day in Bowness and the other at Cartmel races. Hotel was convenient for the motorway and the lakes with loads of free parking space. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful particularly the bar, restaurant and leisure centre staff. The hotel has a good indoor pool and gym which was great for the family to use. The food in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast was good quality and the service was excellent. Would definitely stay there again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hen50 Good all round hotel except for cost of Internet access
We enjoyed a great weekend stay at holiday Inn Lancaster. Help your self breakfasts were excellent, room was very well presented and very comfortable. Very handy for getting onto the motorway and accessing the Lakes. Enjoyed having access to films in our room. Only real negative was that you had to pay to use the Internet.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LauraA Great hotel
We've stayed here lots over the years. It is just off the motorway so great location. The pool is great and my little girl loves it. Only once we've had to book as it was busy. This time the hotel was busy as you could see at breakfast time but the staff coped really well. It is the busiest I've ever seen but it is the kids holidays and the run up to the bank holiday.
Staff couldn't do enough for you. Drinks a bit pricey but for one or two that doesn't matter. The games in the bar are a great addition for kids to play with as well as the playground at the back.

Spacious, comfortable rooms, good leisure facilities, pleasant dining experience.
Check in could have been better, but on the whole staff OK.
Hotel in good location for discovering Lancaster & surrounding areas, watch out for the last bus past the hotel though, anything after about 1830 & you'll be on foot or taxi.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by mohsoldier Very noisy rooms
Our original room was next door to what we were told were boilers. These ran 24 hours and made it impossible to sleep. The front desk staff were keen to help and we moved to a new room. This though over looked the pool, which with the windows opened, meant at 0630 another fan/motor kicked in.
On a seperate note, I dont understand hotels that allow dogs, but dont allow you to go to an area to have a drink, as all tables can have food served to them. This meant we had to drink in the room. Mentioned this to the restaurant manager and in the politest clear off not interested tone, he made an apology.

Flew over 3000 miles to England to see friends that I have not seen for a long time. I chose this location due to it's easy access to the motor way. Our rooms were super clean and the staff was amazing. It's not very often when you can find a place when you walk through the door you fill like home. Thank you to the staff for helping make this visit MEMORABLE!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Atomiccop Nice Room, shame about the bathroom
Having stayed in the Holiday Inn several times over the past few weeks and having stayed in various rooms. I was disappointed that the standards are not the same in all rooms. My last experience, nice comfy bed but the bathroom door had the bottom section hanging off and the shower .... took at least 10 minutes to get up to any sort of strength to shower under. .

My family loves Holiday Inn ever since, it was the right choice to stay in a hotel where you feel home and the breakfast was superb, the accommodation was affordable. Will definitely stay in holiday inn again...
the only thing was not okay was, when we arrived on monday night, the room was nicely presented, then, the next day ,Tuesday, the housekeeper didn't manage to clean the room properly, but from wednesday to friday, it was fine.

Lovely clean hotel with very comfy rooms. Felt £28 was a bit expensive for a burger with a "few" chips, gluten free roll, pint of lager and a small white wine. Annoyed that we were not told the hotel had a pool, sauna etc when we booked. Would have loved to have had a swim and chillax but missed out.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nottsfans Good hotel but far away
The hotel location is far away from the city centre and the bus service is very limited (you have to catch the bus at 5:45pm from the city centre!)
The menu is generally okay. There was a special menu after giving feedback. Hope more options can be provided in the future menu, for example, seafood and vegetarian foods.
The room is basically comfortable. Good!
