I was impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff I encountered. The hotel was exactly the standard I would expect from a Holiday Inn hotel. My only complaint being the expensive price of drinks at the bar.

Staff couldn't have been more helpfu, with lots of local knowledgel. Location great, next to M6, Lancaster & Morecombe within easy access and Lake District near. But you do need a car. Really good place for families too!!

Drove down from Aberdeen and we chose this hotel for a one night stopover as we've been here before on a coach holiday.
After the fiasco or incorrect key card programming at HIE Aberdeen Exhibition, the last thing we expected was a repeat performance from HI Lancaster, OK so we didn't get stuck in the lift here, just that only one card out of two worked. It appears that IHG Reception Staff either have a mental blockage when it comes to programming key cards or need serious retraining.
We got into the room which was clean and spacious, Wifi access was found to be slow and cumbersome with three different passwords for my iphone, laptop and my wife's tablet - the white heat of information technology hasn't really hit Lancaster yet!
Now for the bed itself - the mattress was comfortable but for 'firm' and 'soft' pillows read 'wafer thin' and 'micro thin' respectively. I was left with no choice but to use a rolled up towel as an extra pillow!! Had 4 hours sleep, a stiff neck, and was in a wonderful mood for our drive home!!
Breakfast was the only good thing to say about this hotel!
Wish I stayed at Holiday Inn, Scotch Corner both ways.

As a family, we have stayed at this HI several times as it is in a great location for Lancaster, the coast and The Lakes. Further, we can have two double beds rather than sofa beds. Rooms are always spotless and amenities good.
Last time my review gave a clear 5 stars as we thought they had really upped their game. This time, however, a little lacking in certain areas.
Check-in took ages, 7 in the queue I think and just a supervised trainee checking people in. Fair enough, we all have to learn, but he wasn't being given any help, he was just being watched. I had to ask for a priority club drinks/points voucher, there was no mention of times for breakfast over the holiday weekend, or whether we would like a table to dine in the restaurant. At the very least, open a second check in. Whatever happened to Priority check-in? No recognition at all for being a Platinum member.
The shower in our room was rubbish, just a trickle and though we did ask for it to be looked at we are not sure that it was because it was still rubbish. Absolutely impossible to wash soap out of one's hair.
Saying that we had a great evening meal, breakfast was largely good, though they do need to get rid of that awful tinned mixed fruit, and the pool is fantastic.

A busy bustling place which none the less offers quiet relaxing rooms. Didn't try the gym or pool (lazy) but they looked good.
Provides an excellent base for exploring the Trough of Bowland
or the City of Lancaster itself, just what we'd hoped for.
Food not bad and reasonably priced, Breakfast, all you can eat and not at all bad.
All in all very reasonable with helpful, accommodating staff.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by keiran Uncomfortable bed & terrible pillows
As a long advocate of staying at Holiday Inns and a Platinum member to boot, I found this particular Holiday Inn well down on my list of wanting to re-visit.
Apart from the poor and uncomfortable sleep due to the hard bed and the pillows which were so ????....the stay was a very average one.
Very noisy because of all the kids.
Dining staff were really friendly and nice but we were not that impressed with the reception staff and to date I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CREDITED MY 500 POINTS PROMISED ME FOR MY STAY (1st April for 3 nights !! ).
Also, the bar was a couple of times unmanned for over a 10 minute period and it was impossible to get a drink. Similarly on the evening of the 2nd April (about 10pm), the reception was unmanned for some 12 minutes also.
A shame because in terms of access from the motorway, it was brilliant...shame they can't get a manager who can bring this Holiday Inn up to the standard of so many I have stayed at.
