Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 The staff said it all
Only there one night but Gayle on reception set the tone. A lovely welcome for what was a pleasant sojourn.
Slept well in warm airy, and most importantly, quiet room.
Only negative point was breakfast which seemed to have been being out for a while

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by eagles average stay
This hotel was once very good but is now just about average, there seems to be a lack of staff around and the restaurant wasnt open at all on the sunday evening, meals were served in the bar and the young man working managed to serve meals and look after the bar. The rooms are getting very tired and could do with some updating. On the plus side the location is very good.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sandy1918 A bit outdated but OK
I stay fairly frequently at the 'Leeds Garforth' and it never really changes. Fron of house is generally OK but the rooms are way outdated and tired - don't have to look too far for dust either! WiFi slow on this visist #it varies from one visit to the next#. Breakfast always good though.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dan12345 Room good but evening meal disgraceful
Have stayed at this hotel before and it has been fine. However this time, although the room was up to usual standards, the evening meal that we bought as part of an all inclusive deal was at best awful. The waiter was notified at the time but was too busy to be able to do anything about it. On the return home we found out that we had been charged twice for the meal. This has following a phone call to the duty manager been refunded but as yet no appology or return call as promised from the manager. Having stayed at Holiday Inn's many times I find this unacceptable. You have not made my stay memorable as in previous visits. I understand as a businesman that things go wrong, it is how it is dealt with when they do that sets one apart from the others. On this occasion you have let yourselves down.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by PQ001 Hard, narrow bed but good service
Stayed 2 nights with 1 5 year old. Found the beds far too hard - certainly tend towards the firm end of the spectrum, so much so that neither myself nor my partner got enough sleep. Also double is probably a queen size - felt narrow for 2 people.
Bathroom was a bit mouldy in places, hot towel rail was never hot.
Found the menu at evening meals limited and disappointing. Quality of food ok for the price, but nothing special.
Pool and breakfast best parts of our stay.
I'd recommend the hotel for the price but I'd have expected a bit better.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by itsnotjustme It was a tired hotel before, now it's a very tired Holiday Inn!
Not up to Holiday inn standards elsewhere, Reception, bar area and resturant very welcoming however once beyond those areas it was very tired it was hard to believe that anything had be touched since taking over from the last owners!
What is it that they say shabby is the new chic.
Hopefully this will not only be read, but acted on!

Holiday Inn exceeded my expectations. Wifi in the room was free. Parking was easy and free. Bed was comfortable. Shower was hot and powerful. Food was tasty. Overall I would recommend them and use them again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rosiebee Good value, great location
We've stayed at this hotel many times for weekend breaks. We usually take the bus into Leeds on one day, then take the train into York on the next day. Managed to see Christmas markets in both cities this time. Rooms are compact but generally comfortable and staff are pleasant and quick to sort out requests such as changing pillows for firmer ones. Only niggle this time was that when we went into the bar in the evenings, the restaurant seemed to be set up for Christmas meals and the music and following disco was inescapable. On our way back to the room, we talked to a couple who were sat in a corridor with a drink, to get away from the noise. I accept it was a Christmas thing and it won't stop us returning to this hotel. It's friendly and comfortable and generally very reasonable.

i booked this place as my husband stated that york and surrounding areas are lovely i have used holiday inn before so i decided to use them again when we had traveled 5hour to here we was glad to get in our room with the baby.. only to be in a small room that's meant to be the executive suit but clearly was not i have found body hair the bath ( which was not cleaned) i also found that there was no sky tv as stated when asking the staff they was amendment there was sky in the room until house keeping corrected them also the person who took my booking had not put breakfast on the booking i ended getting charged for it and manged to get some money back... i could not put my travel cot up in the room as it was small the bedding was not clean and i spent half the night up with the baby as someone in the other room was shouting all night

I had read the earlier reviews and was a not expecting anything fantastic - but what a surprise! The room was lovely, the grounds were immaculate, the overall conditions of the hotel was very smart and welcoming, the pool was lovely and warm after and the staff couldn't do enough for us! I look forward to staying again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great place
Hello
We stayed in this Holiday Inn, our first time in a holiday inn, and would definitely recommend this as one of the nicest rooms for any chain of hotels. It was very comfortable and safe and secure. The only slight moan I would have was the price of the beverages, we were at a wedding reception and the drinks were very expensive, 3 times the price of some other places for a bottle of rose wine. The breakfast was excellent and a very extensive range of food available.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BigNeilly Much, much better than expected
I'm glad I made the mistake of booking first and reading reviews second. We had booked a package with dinner included and the reviews suggested to me that I had made a huge mistake. But they were wrong - so wrong that we booked dinner for the following night straight after dinner! Even for a package, we had an excellent selection of meals, some from the buffet, some cooked to order. A la carte options were available for a nominal charge. This was perhaps the best set dinner offering I've ever had at an hotel (and I've had a few). Dinner the following night was even better too! 3 courses for 2 people and including a bottle of wine for £40! Superb. The staff & chef were very friendly, approachable & helpful. Couldn't ask for more. We had a room upgrade to a very nice room, so can't comment on the standard rooms.
Only downside for me was the lack of a spa, which seems to be a standard feature of the most Holiday Inn leisure facilities.
We're going back, btw. We were that impressed! And being a platinum Priority Club member who's stayed in quite a lot of HI hotels over the years, I'm not too easily impressed. Try it!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Philb49 Very Friendly Staff
As a regular user of Holiday Inns I know there can be some variations from hotel to hotel but I have to say the staff at Garforth are really friendly and helpful.
From arrival through to chatting with the Chef whilst he cooked some eggs fresh for my breakfast it made for a very pleasant stay.
The hotel is very well located, good facilities and clearly well managed.
I would have no hesitation on recommending this hotel.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Granby Nice hotel, let down by restaurant
OK, so this isn't the most modern Holiday Inn I have stayed at but thats no problem - its clean, comfortable, very convenient location for me, and the reception staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The gym was also good and the staff there very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool looked nice but didn't have time to use it.
Unfortunately my stay was let down by the restaurant. The food was OK, but nothing special (considering the price). Odered a dessert and then waited 20 minutes for someone to come back and tell me it wasn't availabe! By which point I decided to call it a day.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Richard676 OK, but not a WOW !
Stayed at this hotel a few times on business and for the odd one night its fine; however the bedrooms are well worn and in need of modernisation and there was a stale smell in the bedroom corridors. The reception team were efficient and polite and had all details ready, the bar staff were friendly and gave a warm welcome.
Overall the teams running the Hotel were excellent but unfortunately the whole experience is let down by a tired building showing significant signs or wear and tear.

Very welcoming and friendly staff who couldn't do enough to esnure we were comfortable- finding us an especially quiet room, bringing bags straight up to the room, checking how breakfast was going. And all this was on a weekend when they had a busy wedding party.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NAP6W Great Staff, tired old hotel
This was a weekend away visiting relatives and the hotel provided good value family accommodation. The hotel is very old and tired and needs work. The rooms were less than spritely and the fold down sofa the kids slept on should have been consigned to the tip years ago. We raised this with the staff who were excellent and gave the kids an adjacent room FOC. The food was excellent but the leisure facilities were a bit 1980's and need money spent. Would I stay again - No I doubt it. In this world of super competitiveness there are just too many other better alternatives. Hats off to the staff though for making the best of a tired old hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by mrh123 Great service, helpful and polite staff.
Myself and family really enjoyed our stayat the Holiday Inn Garforth, the staff were very polite and helpful nothing was too much trouble especially the house keepers,if you needed anything from extra coffee sachets to pillows or towels no bother, the room was cleaned daily at a very high standard. The amenities were very good too the only downside the sauna was being renovated but the pool, steamroom and gymn were excellent we will definately be returning to garforth.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Woodley Dated hotel, poor service
This was my first stay in this particular Holiday Inn in Leeds, I generally stay in one of the others however I fancied a change of scenery,
On arrival at the hotel I wasn’t recognised as a Platinum member, the receptionist wasn't exactly welcoming and was given a room on the ground floor that had seen better days. The room, and bathroom was extremely dated with the decor that was more 80's, than current.
I requested a room change and was upgraded to an exec room, however this room was identical in decor but had a bigger bed, and some robes on the bed. It also still fashioned tube TV’s...
On a positive note the restaurant food was ok, and the bar area had some atmosphere.
Unfortunately for me I've booked a further stay here in a few weeks’ time which cannot be cancelled so will ascertain if the experience will be any different.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jayjay48 A nice stay but ............
The staff were very polite and helpful.
We booked a family room for 3 adults. Why, therefore, were there only 2 sets of towels and 2 mugs? If the room is booked for 3 people, then 3 people should be provided for. I had to ask twice before an extra set of towels was brought to the room.
The bed was a double, which we found too small, but we liked the fact that it was very firm. A hotel of this quality and price should really provide a king-size bed.
