The rooms are clean and roomy albeit rather hot and stuffy....even with the aircon on. At night we had to turn off the aircon as it was too noisy. Opening the window is not ideal either.
The breakfast experience was poor with half of the buffet items unavailable at any one time.

My last stay the previous week (see 'Serious noise problem' Oct 17th) was blighted during the day (working in my hotel room) by noisy air con' on the roof - apparently being 'fixed' over the next several months.
I complained during check-out, where they explained the problem and suggested I stay on the first floor next time.
Upon my return the following week, I had - as promised - been moved to the first floor, and - I had also been upgraded to an executive room which was far superior both in size, amenities, and having a very large balcony overlooking an attractive canal / lock.
As promised it was wonderfully quiet. I should add that the executive 'wing' is directly above the function rooms, so week-end weddings could I imagine be a bit of a problem?
As before the front desk staff were very friendly and very helpful, and breakfast again wholesome and plentiful.
Incidentally there is a very good Italian Restaurant in the square two minutes away called La Rosetta, full of traditional Italian specialities (not the Italian overlooking the canal).
