Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Twin executive rooms I requested a twin bed executive room on a high floor for four nights. A twin room on the first floor was provided but appeared to have no heating and I requested a change of room. The only room available on the sixth floor had a double bed which was uncomfortable for two people and the mattress appeared to vibrate whenever one person moved, resulting in disturbed sleep. More twin rooms or double beds with 2 twin mattresses may be helpful. October 21, 2013

Staff were very pleasant, especially Gary at Concierge who was very helpful. One con is that the bathrooms are very small for a family room. But would definitely return. October 15, 2013

I had walked quite a bit to this hotel from King's Cross train staion with my heavy luggage. Thus, I cancelled the other booking and booked this hotel and Tiran at the front desk very efficiently tok care of my check-in. From that day, everyone at the hotel were very helpful and mostly cheerful. This is how a hotel staff should be and how the service should be. The ambience, location near the Russell Square tube station, the excellent food, the service and the accomodation were excellent! October 7, 2013

I was very disappointed to find that the Holiday Inn insisted on payment of 10.00 pound per 24hrs for Wi-Fi usage considering I could walk acroos the street and get access to WI-Fi free at a nearby bar. This resulted in my whole delegation of 10 people going elswhere to eat and drink so that they could access free Wi-Fi. this policy is outdated and needs re thinking or risk losing more internal business. My overall stay was fantastic, staff, facilities and hotel presentation was fantastic. October 6, 2013

Julian and Barbara deserve special note for their customer service. Very well located next to Russell Square underground (Metro) station on the Piccadilly line; the hotel is very accessible to all central London attractions either on foot (20 minutes walk) or by tube. Very close to the Brunswick Centre and its excellent selection of restaurants and fantastic cinema - the Renoir. Food is consistently good in the in-house restaurant. I would recommend. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Uncomfortable, small beds. Book a twin! This hotel is very good and in an excellent location, close to underground stations and railway links. The reception staff were lovely, friendly and were very patient showing a non English speaking guest how the lift worked several times! The bar area is comfortable with very polite staff and clean & tidy. We didn't eat in the bar or restaurant so cannot comment on the food on the lunchtime and evening menus. Breakfast was typical of holiday inns which is good with plenty of choice. Unfortunately this is let down by the staff, many of whom speak little English and if they don't understand what you want, say "yes" and walk away never to be seen again which is very frustrating!!! The bedrooms are small but adequate as is the bathroom. My biggest bugbear is that mirrors are too far away from electric sockets which makes hair drying interesting. The beds are too small and uncomfortable for a decent nights sleep I recommend booking a twin room. September 27, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Difficut stay Having stayed here many times in the past, I felt fairly sure that I would be happy this time. However, the first room that I was put in had only intermittent and slow internet. I have to say, once I made the staff aware I was moved as quickly as they could to another room where the internet was fine. This room however, must have had a new chambermaid, as she took the soap that I had opened, and would have happily used the next day, but failed to replace it, thus leaving me soapless that evening and the next morning. Then on my last night at about 9 I called for room service, to be told that there had been a kitchen fire and thus no food was available other than sandwiches. There are at least eight fast food restaurants within a five minute walk, couldn’t at least arrangements have been made to deliver pizza ? The lack of initiative and imagination is astonishing. There is no leadership or management here, simply shop minding. On a positive note breakfast is lovely and the staff always charming. September 24, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and breakfast The service from the staff was excellent. I had ordered a newspaper for our first morning and for some reason it was not outside the room. The staff were marvellous and because they had no spare copies of the one I had ordered they went to the local newsagent and got one for me. It is little things like this that you remember. Staff very friendly and polite, Platinum Reward member recognised, called by name, staff helpful. Room very comfortable, spotlessly clean and plenty of space, this was on the 6th floor! Had good nights sleep as bed so comfy. Food excellent quality, bar food exceptionally delicious and very reasonably priced, considering in London. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Happy surprise mostly We were delighted to find the proximity between the Russell sq picadilly underground, and this holiday inn to be So close! The lobby was relaxing and inviting . Staff at the desk were patient efficient and greeted me by name. We were given a room on the 6th floor. I liked the key in the elevator Security measure. The room was spacious - room 601. The bed was very comfortable also . I was delighted to discover the Towels included full size bath sheets. Also loved the robes and slippers. The two criticisms I had were: 1. The bathtub was uninviting to actually take a bath - which I so love to do - but showering was pleasant and more than adequate. 2. I have become accustomed to the faux wooden floors of the Indigo line of IGH hotels ( it was further away so we didn't stay there.) I think all hotels should adopt the faux wood flooring because it is much more sanitary than carpeting which can look worn stained and harbor more unknowns. Overall I would return to this hotel and highly recommend it for its hospitality convenience , and lovely staff. My cheeseburger was fab! September 7, 2013

Upon check-out i was passed about to complete my payment, didnt seem very professional. this may be due to training, but this wasnt explained. Room service menu a little lacking in inspiration, again not what i'm use to in other Holiday Inns. No apparent recognition of my Platinum Rewards status. Positive: Very clean, and modern looking reception. very close to russell sq tube & euston station. I usually stay in the Grange Holborn, Kingsway Hall or the Russell. They would still be my preference in this area. Not likely to stay here again. September 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service I visited hotel with my wife and son. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was kept in tip top condition and very clean. When we arrived the sofa bed was not ready for my son but was taken care of within ten minutes after I reported the problem. On the negative side, the sofa bed was very soft and you could feel the iron frame from the mattress. However that was the only negative point. The stay exceeded my expectations, location is very quiet and accessible. Would definitely return and RECOMMEND. September 4, 2013

Unfortunately, being in the heart of London, you don't get value for money. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Droitwich Spa at a fraction of the cost, and it included free breakfast and wifi. London was a lot more expensive and did not include breakfast or wifi. The location was ok... 2mins walk to Russel Square tube station, and maybe about 10mins walk to London Euston Station. If you're sightseeing, Russel Square tube station is fine, but if you're travelling, chances are you'd have to walk to London Euston station. There were a few eating places around, but limited when compared to some other areas. If you're not eating at the hotel, chances are you're looking for a cheaper option close by. September 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by London at its best I love staying at this hotel primarily for the staff and especially the concierge who are friendly, professional and knowledgeable. On this visit did not eat in the hotel therefore not rated by me. So near to rail tube and bus links the location is great and much better than the larger holiday inn in the area that is not near public transport links. The only issue I had was that an old stain was on the duvet cover which was not good and not what was expected. I look forward to staying at this hotel in the future. September 4, 2013
