I have stayed at this Holiday Inn several times. Overall I have been very happy with my experience, even placing very positive reviews on several travel review sites. I have been a strong advocate for this particular hotel to friends and business associates.
However on my last stay, several things went wrong and I was disappointed at how the hotel handled the situation.
First I was told that I would not have any water in my room from 10am to 4pm on one of the days during my stay. I did not have a problem with this. What I did not realize was that workmen would be entering my room regularly during the day to replace the plumbing in my bathroom. Not exactly a conducive environment for me to work or take business calls.
Second, the internet was not working. I had paid for the premium access, not the free slow speed access offered to frequent guests. After spending over an hour with the hotel operator and their outsourced IT help, they were able to get me intermittent access to the internet the following day but blocked access to my corporate VPN. I was working from the hotel for 2 of the 3 days there, and was not able to access my office.
Third, and most disappointing was the response from the front desk. I challenged the full charge for the internet, and requested some prorated charge since I did not have access for part of my stay, and could not access my corporate VPN for the full stay. He first declined since I did eventually get internet access. After some debate, I finally got him to credit the full charge for the internet. What I should have got was also a credit for 1 nights stay, since I had to share my room with their workmen for a day. Maybe a better approach would be to shut down a room while the hotel is working on its renovation. An apology would also have been appreciated.
Overall, this was not a pleasant stay. However in my many stays here, this has been the only negative experience. I am sure this is any exception to an otherwise very positive experience with this hotel.
