I've stayed in the area a few times for similar trips, and had some awful hotels (like one on Drury Ln). This was much better - more than adequate for my needs. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gorgeous room with mega comfy bed After spending a long day Christmas shopping & sightseeing around London, it was a delight to come back to the nicely decorated spacious room which had a large wide screen Tv, sofa and a mega comfy bed with fluffy duvet and pillows. Room service was excellent and the staff were polite & friendly. Only drawback was that it was a fair walk from hotel to nearest rail station which was Kings Cross after walking around London all day - but in saying that, once on the tube, it was quite quick to travel to Covent Garden, Leicester Square etc. Lovely hotel, would recommend and would stay here again. The physical plant is in dire need of upgrading and the Internet service Is distinctly early nineties in quality and speed. However the customer service is good and the rooms comfortable.But the reality is that the hotel is quite overpriced for what it offers. December 15, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I only stay here for convenience Room was not vacuumed for days (same rubbish on floor) Although beds are very comfortable, the bed sheets were torn No fridge in my room. Had the inconvenience of moving to a room with fridge. Last two occasions - heating did not work. Staff rolled in a stand alone heater. Although the food is good, the room service itself is unacceptably slow. I was ringing for what seemed like an eternity to get room service to pick up. In the end I had to go through reception. Food can take along time to be delivered during their busy periods and I had to pull the gold elite card, to get a quicker service. December 15, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Not my first choice I have stayed at this hotel before some years ago and recall the décor to be dated and the receptionists where not all that good. I had room service back then and the food was good. The mattress was not firm but OK. The bar was nice. The surrounding area is some what of a dead end. So having avoided that hotel for some years I was not keen to be back there again. Again as expected the receptionist appeared to have the hump. I asked if I had been upgraded as a platinum member and was told yes you have a double room, odd as I had booked a double room! Room was just as a I expected, soft mattress which you sank into, bathroom ok, small bath tub, at least the aircon worked. Dated décor, worn out sofa etc etc. No great surprises. Anyway, I asked for a taxi to be called, instead was told to go find one of the road. Great service!! Following, morning...breakfast was good, service was good. Different Receptionist and she was very good, I asked for a taxi and she got me one. Will I be back again. Nope!! December 14, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not suitable for business travelers - Worst wifi in London It's close and convenient to work, so I booked about 20 days of travel here over the past few months. Here's the verdict: avoid if on business. The wifi just doesn't work and also has one of the most annoying logon procedures I've ever seen. The bathrooms are small and dingy, and the bar is a infrequently-staffed with a selection of one beer and one cider on tap. The attached Indian restaurant is quite good, though - try the lamb fry! Only one complaint I was unable to access Internet in the main lobby or bedroom this visit, but we will return next month as we always do. December 12, 2014
