Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor front desk staff and hugely overpriced breakfast When we arrived at 10 am after an overseas flight, we were told our room would not be ready until 2 pm. While we sat there with very expensive $8 cups of coffee, everyone else who came was checked in. Finally after an hour I asked the staff to please check again and they "found" us a room. When we commented that the hotel was a greater distance from the train station than we expected, they said there was a short cut but did not offer directions even when asked. We had a very early tour one morning and decided to have the "hot" breakfast. The cost was $30.00 for 2 people. This was a tremendous rip off for some scrambled eggs and Campbell's baked beans. Finally when we checked out,, we asked for a cab and were told the "light on the street" was on. We were under time constraints to catch an early train and waited a full 20 minutes. I have never experienced such poor service from front desk staff at an IHG brand before, nor have I ever been taken advantage off in an IHG restaurant before. We were never recognized as IHG gold members. Would not recommend this property and we will not be staying here when we return to London. September 14, 2013

Our grandaughter was most happy having a great big double bed to herself. Lovely place. Would recommend to everyone. September 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So quiet and yet in Central London Everything about our stay was excellent.The room was the perfect size for my wife and I and our two young daughters. There was no street noise at all and the air-conditioning kept the room at a comfortable temperature. Breakfast was excellent and I wasn't hungary for the rest of the day.The childern enjoyed the swimmimg pool for a couple of hours before we checked out. The staff couldn't be faulted. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Big room, very comfy double, not so great sofa bed We reserved a double room with sofa bed for our 7 year old. We were told at check in that we had been upgraded. The room was twice the size of the standard rooms but the sofa bed was still just as uncomfortable - ok for a tired small child but not great for anyone else. The room was tucked in a quiet corner of the 7th floor - away from lifts, traffic noise, etc., which was great! You have to pay for the use of the pool, which we didn't realise until we checked in. Breakfast was ok - nothing special. Ok value for London but considering we'd just returned from Florence, where we paid half as much per night for an even bigger room, with 3 proper beds and the most amazing breakfast, we felt a little hard done by. Although it was clean, the upholstered furniture had seen better days and the room didnt smell very fresh at all. Hate a bathroom with a shower curtain and the towels also smelled. The breakfast was lovely although the restaurant was busy and we had to keep asking for things that had run out which was annoying (orange juice, cutlery, jam, bread). Was bearable overall but wouldn't stay there again. A bus trip to the kings cross stn better if travelling with kids. August 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic value for money! Easy location from kings cross either walking or quick taxi. We walked with a 5 year old and was fine. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. Very pleased with the room as didnt expect this standard for the price we paid. Clean, spacious and comfy. It had everything we needed. Had a sneak at the pool it didnt get chance to use it but the whole spa looked fab. Breakfast was good, will be using the hotel again. August 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice room We paid to upgrade to the executive suite. Room was nice with a few extras such as wine, water and fruit juice. Should have had 2 bathrobes but unfortunately only one in the room. At breakfast time the dining area was busy especially if you were a family so allow plenty of time. The only downside for us was the location, the nearest tube station was 10-15 mins walk away. Staff were friendly and they did look after your luggage following checkout. August 29, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, location a bit too far out from centre Upon arrival staff were very nice and helpful. Parking was easy right outside the hotel entrance. The room was clean and tidy, my only gripe was the bed being very uncomfortable so not a great nights sleep. Breakfast was ok, a little lacking in choice but acceptable. We used the swimming pool which was great value. The location is a little too far out from the center of things so can be costly getting to the centre and back (around £12/15 in taxi fairs each way.) Overall a nice stay, would use Holiday Inn again but purhaps choose one a little closer to the centre next time. August 29, 2013

This meant we were on the same floor as the air conditioning unit which kept us awake until 12am and then restarted at 5.05am. Hardly relaxing after a busy day in London. Also there was an awful smell coming up through the bathroom sink. We won't be staying again. August 29, 2013

Being vegetarians, our breakfast selection was somewhat limited. Somewhat far away from the main attractions and a decent walk to nearest train/tube. Friendly staff. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Price The hotel is in a rather quiet neighborhood, beds are comfortable. The hotel is about 10 to 15 minutes walk from Kings Cross. There is a bus which brings you there and to the center of town. The only inconvenient is that there is another Holiday Inn hotel not far from this one, and our taxi drive brought us to the wrong hotel. August 22, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ripped bedding & furniture I've stayed in lots of your hotels before but I can safely say this one was awful. Our room had uncomfortable beds that really needed replacing, the bedding was ripped and the 2 soft chairs in our rooms were so ripped and filthy we didn't want to sit in either. The walls were paper thin therefore through the adjoining door to the next room we could hear their TV and talking after midnight. We went for a swim in the morning, we had picked the Holiday Inn due to the brand's reputation and that you had a pool, but we were turned away by the pool attendant as children aren't allowed into the pool in the morning. This was also despite the pool only having one other person in there. Given we were clearly there to swim and not play I was astounded - this certainly isn't family friendly policy. When I had enquired on check-in, accompanied by my 8 year old son and husband, about when the pool opened the next morning your check-in staff made no mention of these restrictive pool timings for children. We were therefore unable to use the pool as we checked out shortly after breakfast. Turning to breakfast I wish I hadn't booked it - the hot items were all on a hot plate and the toast ready-made and dumped in a basket for the entire dining room and overflow room. Needless to say it was all cold and when I asked for hot toast I was met with a shrug by the first member of staff I spoke to, the second said they couldn't speak English and eventually the third obligingly went off to fix us some fresh toast. We were also seated in the lobby area - the restaurant overflow - where the chairs and tables are not dining room height. The chairs at the table we were seated at were so low, and of course not dining room chairs, that the table was too high for me to eat my breakfast in comfort. I felt like a child trying to eat breakfast as I was so low down. We were all utterly disappointed with our stay and would not use this hotel again. I filled in a comment card with all the above points on check-out but no-one has contacted me since despite our stay being 2 weeks ago, this is extremely poor customer service. August 20, 2013

However, when ordering a taxi from the front desk please make sure the charges involved are explained to you in full. I was shocked when a three minute taxi journey to St Pancras cost me £12. The previous day in the opposite direction it cost less than £5 in a black cab. I queried the £12 fee only to be told that this was the minimum fee and that the hotel should have informed me as such. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms perfect, bar staff great, breakfast staff grumpy Rooms clean, didn't expect amazing things as price quite reasonable. However, witnessed staff at breakfast telling customers to hurry up as they weren't climbing stairs up to restaurant quick enough!!! Stayed in amazing hotels all over the world and know that you get what you pay for.!! Maybe the older lady (not sure if she was restaurant manager, had a suit jacket on) was a wee bit stressed and couldn't cope with volumes of customers but no excuse for that behaviour. Well done to housekeeping staff though, our room was immaculate. Bar staff also very good. August 16, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Car damaged in car park Be careful if you pay to park your car. The car park seems to be completely uncontrolled by the hotel. No CCTV and no idea about who is parking in each space at any time. So consequently when someone damages your car with their door there is nothing the hotel can do about it, (not that the staff showed any interest anyway). Maybe it's a London thing, not caring about car damage? Anyway the cost of my stay went up 4 fold to pay for the damage, so I am not happy. August 12, 2013

The hotel is ten minutes walking from King Cross Saint Pancras (You can also use the bus 63; the bus stop is ten meters from the hotel) Me, my wifw and our daughter spent nine days in a comfortable air conditioned double room with a sofa bed. The room was dayly well cleaned and they changed dayly bath towels too. The staff was always carefull, gentle and useful English and Italian speaking. I joined to the Club so I immediatly can use internet wireless for free. Food was really a bit under the standard of the hotel and no variety or surprises day by day. Often we had to await to have breakfast. August 10, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cleanliness, Not worth to what I paid for My cousin booked this hotel for me to stay for three days. When I Checked in , I found out the price was not cheap. They need me to pay extra for the internet service, fitness and pool. When I go into the room, I can't find safety box inside the room. The second day when I returned to hotel, I found some hairs inside the new towels. What an experience! I was so disappointed. August 10, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by another terrific stay thank you once again . I stay here very frequently with work and you never let me down. The staff are always terrific. There was a problem with the television (I could only get BBC News 24), but I informed the staff about it on my way to work and it was fixed by the time I came back. When you have nothing to do in an evening, you really rely on that box so thank you for sorting it so quickly. The team always welcome me with open arms, know who I am on entry (shows how much I stay) and I'm liking the new free wifi. I'll bring my ipad next time! The hotel as whole could do with a lick of paint, its quite dated, but its clean and comfortable and does everything I need on a night away! I look forward to my next trip down in a few weeks.
