Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderful staff I have stayed in many Holiday Inns around the world, but the staff in this hotel were all exceptional. Pleasant, smiling and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and the general atmosphere therefore, was excellent. The general manager deserves a pat on the back-keep up the good work! February 15, 2014

Breakfast choice was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful, offered options not on menu such as poached egg on toast . Staff very knowledgable about subway system and easy to follow directions. Although approx 4 miles from London city centre, approx 8mins on subway system, never had to wait more than 3mins for a train. February 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend in London. The hotel is very comfortable, modern and nicely furnished. Our room was very nice, the right size, and the bed was very comfortable (however the pillows were a bit flat...). The staff were superb: friendly, helpful, attentive. The only issue is the location is a bit of a walk from the nearest tube station. The neighborhood felt safe to us, but some visitors might not feel comfortable (lots of dark shop fronts, empty buildings). Definitely would stay there again. February 6, 2014

New enough still to look smart, it was also spotless throughout, and although the room booked was a single, I ended up with a double. And very comfortable it was too. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel let down by restaurant In Central London there is too much choice to let the restaurant get it so wrong. Lost orders, 1 beer, Soup and a chicken cesar salad how hard can it be. It was not even a busy restaurant. To cap it all, having spoken to the senior manager in the restaurant. When the coffee came with no sugar, the waiter said "oh sorry sir I will get some straight away"... Having waited for 10 minutes I then had to go and find him to get the sugar!! Breakfast similar - kept waiting - no eye contact - waitress disappeared to the main desk leaving me standing. Having returned it took 20 minutes to get porridge - when enquiry was made at 20 minutes - the reply "oh it is in the microwave..." Brilliant - ( can't believe it cooked for all those 20 minutes - can you?) There are too many hotels available in London to let this happen. The room was great and the reception staff listened to my issues - I would have had dinner for free - but it was pre paid - just sort it out! January 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel Good hotel; fine location for Canary Wharf, Central or East London area. 10 minutes on DLR to Bank or Canary Wharf. Breakfast good. Room on second floor was wonderfully quiet. Broadband in room was fast and useful as it is now free; major irritation for me in hotels having to pay for internet access or go sit in the lobby. Room very comfortable. Would use this as alternative to central London. Only bad point; I gave up with room service as it was permanently engaged. January 26, 2014

I always feel welcome here, much more so than most other hotels I have ever visited. I tip my hat to Joanna and hear front desk team for the excellent customer service. January 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, shame about the room service. Very good bedroom; clean, well presented, spacious. Didn't use the restaurant or bar downstairs but they looked nice and were always occupied by other guests so must of been good. Nearest train station was a 15min walk away. Only bad experience was that cooked English breakfast ordered for room service at 9am the next morning didn't arrive until 10.30am and when it did it was stone cold and not very appealing for the £18 per plate price tag. Would definitely stay again but wouldn't order room service breakfast again. January 6, 2014

The hotel is very new so rooms are not only well laid out but excellent quality. location is so easy for the DLR, Canary Wharf and central London. A real treasure in the IHG portfolio. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very well maintained and comfortable This is the crown jewel of London. My room was very comfortable, the staff was friendly and accommodating. I was not a fan of the fridge that charged if you moved any of the items but a quick call fixed the erroneous charges. The hotel is close to the subway/train and there are many Taxis to take you places. Great property and the barber next door is great. December 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Good Hotel I enjoyed a very nice at the Holiday Inn after my work Christmas Party, due to the function I was attending I arrived back at the hotel late but felt very secure with the fact that I had to swipe my room card on the entrance and to get in the lift. Reception staff were helpful and would always greet me as I walked past them. The room was nice and had everything I needed including hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Water pressure was a bit low in the shower but not to the extent that it was unusable. In the morning because I did not get back until late I went to breakfast at 10.15 - there was a very good selection but the restaurant was a little untidy (tables not cleared from other guests who had already left) and the food not that hot for £10.00 but it was better than the local McDonalds or Subway by a very long way. I would regardless of the small gripe above recommend this hotel and would stay here myself again when in the area due to its close proximity to amenities and the DLR to the underground. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stylish, friendly staff and good value, but poor room design I enjoyed a recent business stay at the Holiday Inn Commercial Road, but there were a number of annoying design problems with my room that prevented my stay from being a really good experience. The wash basin was so shallow it was almost impossible to have a shave. Shaving problems were exacerbated by very dim lighting in the bathroom (indeed the whole bedroom was very dimly lit). So I went off to work looking slightly less immaculate than I intended! The air conditioning was also problematic. Despite me turning it off, the room was cold and the air conditioner seemed to come on of its own accord in the middle of the night, with a quiet but irritating rattle that was just loud enough to wake me up. The hotel is of a high standard with efficient and friendly staff. The walk from the DLR takes only 5 minutes, however, the area is not quite as well kept as could be. December 5, 2013

The hotel is very close to underground station (shadwell) and even though it's not well centered for London, you can get from there easily to anywhere you which. Stuff is welcoming, hotel is new and polished, breakfast is great. prices - very good deal for London prices. Overall - we will stay here next time as well. December 5, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Room Travelling to a weekend conference, we found our twin room extremely well designed and comfortable, with everything thought through to meet our needs. The bathroom was lovely and the shower gorgeous. A special thank you to the cleaning staff, who made everything so homely and comfortable, Breakfast was good, but the warming equipment could have been more effective (just a minor quibble). All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel, being so new, was immaculate. Thank you for an enjoyable and memorable stay. November 21, 2013

Good size lobby area, bar and restaurant; all with ample comfortable seating. Very helpful and attentive staff, always made me feel welcome. Good transportation links. 3 minutes walk from Shadwell DLR (15 minutes to London City Airport, 10 minutes to Tower Gateway or Bank. 12 minutes walk to Whitechapel Tube. Red buses (Reception will advise on which bus number) depart from opposite the hotel to Charing Cross Station and elsewhere. November 17, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Short Break Weather was not great ! Rained most of the time so put a damper on the stay. Walk from nearest tube station (Whitechapel) far enough to get drenched. Cannot have any complaints however about the hotel other than the surrounding area not the best. We decided to walk up to Spitalfields Market (approx. 15 mins) for something to eat. Also used loyalty points so on value for money was OK although I was very shocked to see rack rate advertised in reception in the £400.00 bracket !!!! Bar area and restaurant also looked very nice. The rooms were new and very clean and i had a very pleasant stay. They just need to lower the prices as for the same amount i could have stayed at a proper 5 star. And this places doesn't offer the same level of food, entertainment and facilities i would get from another hotel of the same price. But, don't let that put you off. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great HI but slightly miffed this time I've stayed here 4 or 5 times now, it's very very good and I would recommend it however, I was a little disappointed on this visit at check-in. I've been upgraded here when there was availability and it's much appreciated. When I checked in this time I asked if there was an upgrade available and was told no. Fair enough but I had checked about 5 minutes earlier on my mobile app and there certainly were exec rooms available so I mentioned this and lo and behold an available upgrade was found! This is so annoying, certain IHG Hotels make you fight for an upgrade and yes I have proved that there was availability when I was told there wasn't. I hope this HI is not falling into this category. Earning Platinum status involves a lot of business going to IHG, an upgrade is the payback on this (along with extra points). I have had personal communication with the CEO of IHG on this topic before and have been assured that if there is availability then an upgrade should be offered. It may be that I had requested a room at the end of a corridor at booking and perhaps the upgrade wasn't offered as the room wasn't at the end of a corridor? I would like to think that this might be the case here as I really do like staying here. That's my little rant over, as I said at the beginning this is a great hotel with great staff. Do stay! First impressions of the hotel were great. modern clean and bright. The quality of the room was great, clean, modern and large. The staff were friendly and courteous. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Some minor issues, great staff We stayed in the HI Commercial Road for 6 nights total over about 10 days in and around London - checking out to visit other cities a couple times, and then returning. We were upgraded to an executive room which was an unexpected surprise and had a couple extra perks that made the stay nice. The only issues we had during our stay were - no hot water one morning, and some rattling pipes in the walls adjacent to our room that would come and go (the latter we heard in 2 different rooms we stayed in). Annoying but it didn't keep us up at night. The staff at this location was extremely friendly and helpful, particularly one of the managers named Amira. She went above and beyond to help us when we had questions or concerns. We would definitely consider staying at this HI if we visited London again in the future. October 31, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 3 nights' comfortable stay at Holiday Inn Commercial Road October 12 2013, I stayed 3 nights Holiday Inn Commercial Road in London. In fact that was my second time experience at the same hotel, first time was last June. Everything was so nice as expected including free wifi, which some hotels in Londen charge more than 10 pound per day. I firmly believe that any one looking for comfortable hotel with resonable cost could be satisfied with this hotel. October 21, 2013
