Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Room was clean, front desk nice Rooms, lobby, common areas were clean - spotless! Front desk employees were polite. We had some issues with the temperature in the room and it took quite a while for someone to address it. They should've moved us to another room, but instead, just turned off the heal altogether and told us to open our windows. Don't get excited about the Brazilian barbeque - it was dry and less than appetizing. If you expect it to be anywhere close to Fogo De Chao, you'll be disappointed. The $10.95 breakfast buffet won't even allow you to bring a cup of coffee or a banana on your way out. If you pay for a parking space, be ready to have to locate the person who has taken it upon themselves to park in it. Hotel staff does not provide anything that reserves the spot for you. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed, clean room, convenient location, The Holiday Inn in Long Island City has a convenient location, close to the public transportation. No need for taxis or private cars to get around the city. It is also close to deli's and supermarkets, and school, and banks, and places of worship. The room was clean and comfortable. The wide windows on the 14th floor where I was at, has a good view of the Long Island City skyline as well as that of Manhattan. The only 3 points that I felt need to be improved is how the thermostat operates. The room was so cold in the first evening that I wasn't too sure how to adjust it on the wall. Second, the hotel entrance in the lobby needs to be improved because guests are entering through the parking area. It makes the hotel look cheap. Third, there has to be a way of insulating the noise from the elevator bank when one's room is close to the elevators. Maybe changing the doors closest to the elevator banks with noise proof doors. Since it was my birthday, I was hoping that the hotel staff would be gracious enough to move me up to the suites in the higher floors where the windows are much wider but I guess I was hoping too much.
