The hotel is being renovated and I took that into consideration. Overall, the room was fine and I had no huge complaints. I do wonder why about a dozen or so of the TV stations that are listed on the guide do not work and display only "a fuzzy screen".
I did not eat at the hotel, so I cannot comment on the quality of the food. I did, however, use the workout facility. Again, I understand that the hotel is being upgraded, but the equipment in the room is rather pathetic. There were two treadmills that were very old and one of them was not really in a usable condition. The other one worked, but was in serious need of an upgrade...belt was very worn and frayed in spots. It was actually to the point that I considered driving over to the newer Holiday Inn Express and pleading with them to let me use their equipment.
I look forward to returning once the renovations are complete and as long as you don't have high expectations for the amenities, it is fine now. The rate I paid was actually $20 less a night than the Holiday Inn Express and I think that is fair given the current state of the hotel.

I made a last minute reservation because the other IHG hotel in town I had a reservation at had some issues when I arrived and the Candlewood I normally stray at was not available and this was close to where I needed for business. When I arrived I noticed it was a 70's style Holiday in due to outside entrances but I also saw they were doing some remodeling. When I walked in the lobby I saw it was very nice and thought they must really be sprucing the place up. The front desk team was courteous acknowledged me as IHG member and gave me a room with an outside entrance ground floor. Perfect for me I have a lot of equipment. I pulled up to the room tried to enter and neither key works. So I drive back around(it's 30 degrees and raining# get some new keys and back to the room again the door doesn't open. At this point I'm thinking what am I doing wrong so back around a third time. The clerk re programs and I go over to the bar to get some food to take back to the room the key doesn't work again this is 4 times. This time the clerk says she will reprogram and meet me at the door so I drive around and I am waiting and waiting I walk up and go inside and look down the hall and there she is I said I was outside and she said Oh my gosh we forgot to tell you. You need to go through the inside door before the outside door will work. 90 minutes of my life wasted I will never get back. So I walk in the room and its kind of eclectic with wood floors antique remakes oranges and greens and a huge Lilly print on the wall. The clerk says this is one of the HOTEL INDIGO rooms. All I care about is it is 100 degrees the heater is on high. SO I get my stuff unloaded from the car and the room is now down to about 80 degrees and go to put my water and groceries I carry with me in the fridge and water spills out all over the wood floor why? the fridge is broken in my mind I am saying #when was the last time someone was in this room and do I just leave and go down the road# I decide to stay and while the maintenance man who was very quick and very nice swaps out the fridge I eat my now cold pizza from the hotel restaurant which I rate a 6/10. #May have been higher when it was hot.) at the most uncomfortable desk and old style wood office chair at the smallest desk I have ever seen at a hotel. After dinner I decide to sit back calm down and watch some TV. The wicker chair is unusual I try it and its belongs the front porch not in a hotel room. The final straw was the TV with only half the channels because they had been waiting for days for a part from Direct TV???. All in all I would say if this is the type of rooms they will be having they will lose all business travelers because they are not comfortable or afford the space needed to work. Update the bathrooms, paint the walls , put some good quality carpet, some not worn out sheets Lose the cheap looking oversize lamps and the uncomfortable desk chairs. Get a bigger desk with a smooth top and go back to what made the brand great comfort and value every time. For some people this might be for you. For me I would be hard pressed to stay here again unless they have a different style room.

This property is not up to the traditional Holiday Inn Standards. The Bar/Lounge has limited hours, short supply of alcohol, and the bar tender closes early and will not fill your drinks in a timely manner. The property was under renovation which was not disclosed at time of booking. The construction noise during the day was highly obnoxious. the smoking area was locked in the evening while smokers were still out, causing a lengthy walk to the front of the hotels. Our kids were harassed by the staff at the pool even though supervised by a 18 yo family member.

Hotel was under renovation. Staff was attentive and helpful. Here are my complaints
1) Night 1 room was 1 floor under the construction which starts to early and ends too late. My desk chair lift lever did not work so chair was way too high and my tv remote did not work.
2) My night 2 room was in the motel section. The curtains were missing curtain hooks and the drapes would not close completely so I moved hooks from the sheers to the drapes to get them to close fully and block out light. The outside door had bad air leaks on a very cold night. The heater could not keep the room warm enough and i woke up in the middle of the night and had to wear my coat to bed to stay warm.
3) Breakfast was only ordering from a menu which takes too long. They need a buffet with omelet station.

I was really disappointed with the Holiday Inn - Hurstbourne. Not only was our room really questionable (safety wise), but the staff member I dealt with was not at all personable. Immediately upon entering our room there was a huge black spider on the bed pillow that I had to remove. Our room was cold...the heating unit in the room blew out a combination of cold air and lukewarm air. The mattresses were so lumpy and old that the entire bed rocked when my daughter made the slightest of movement. Considering it was a non-smoking room, cigarette smoke wafted into our room from the outside. We had two doors to enter our room, one to the outside, and one into a long dark corridor, both questionable. There were grocery carts outside our hotel door in the parking lot along with 100's of cigarette butts. I walked by the cleaning cart as I was leaving on Sunday and even the cleaning cart smelled like an ash tray. Even our television remote was broken.
