The overall of rooms, location & service was Good. For staying a couple of days not so good. On Saturday evening when we returned to our room the fridge was unplugged, causing all our foods to melt, spoil and throw everything in the trash, except our drinks. The same evening there was a party across the water pond we live music till midnight. There was only 1 free meal ticket for 4 people staying in the room. Breakfast was $30 for three others to eat. Thanks anyways.

2 TV's but remotes would only work only half the time or not at all. Told front desk was told problem would be taken care of in the morning. But I checked out so I hope next person in the room has good remotes. Breakfast fair not a lot of selection but it was free.

We love this hotel as it is only a short drive from our family in Lubbock. We stay at this property at least once a year, sometimes twice a year. The room is always clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and efficient. My only complaint this time was no fridge in the room - but we were hardly ever there and kept soft drinks in an ice chest with ice and did just fine. Will stay there again next time we are in town.

As always with HI we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was quiet at night and the service was excellent. When we got there our room was just as we had asked for. The inside of the hotel was quiet and very peaceful.

I will look forward to staying at the Holiday Inn again. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and I love the "soft" and "hard" pillow choices. The fountain made a very relaxing atmosphere.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ReluctantOkie1 Cooling Unit needs better explanation
The air conditioner got louder and louder then quit. It was 1 in the morning when we arrived. We were exhausted. We managed to get the fan to run and went back to sleep. When maintenance came to look at the unit, the guy said something about the way it was set. It made no sense and did not explain why it did not come back on when the room warmed up.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CC57 Excellent Restaurant Staff!
The hotel overall is dated, but our room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had an inner room that overlooked the atrium and pool which was very nice, but the pool does need to be resurfaced. The buffet breakfast was good and the staff in the restaurant were all very friendly and helpful, especially the lady at the desk. I would recommend mini-fridges in the rooms.

This is a very old property but they have done a good job at keeping it up and do the best with what they have. It has a nice tropical atrium with a fountain, swimming pool, and bar. The night prior to check in, i tried to call the property several times to make a special request to be on the first floor due to a leg injury but could not get through as nobody answered the three times i called. At check in the young lady seemed to have an attitude and not very polite. That evening I mentioned it to the Asst. Front Desk Manager and she said she got complaints from that associate on a daily basis. Dinner and service was good , except for the bannana cream pie i ordered for dessert, it was frozen solid and i couldn't cut through it, so i sent it back. Bartender was great. Overall the staff were all friendly with exception to the young lady who checked me in. Upon check out, i needed to seperate my incidentals from room charges, and that took longer than it should have. the guy checking me out wasn't sure how to do that and had to wait for help from the other guy who had a line he was helping. But they had good attitudes and very nice.

Our first-choice hotels (which charge higher rates) were unavailable due to university event. Due to excellent service, perfectly fine room, pet-friendly-ness and whoever is managing/leading the friendly, caring staff, this has become our first-choice hotel to and from Austin to SW Colorado each summer. $50 pet fee (vs. $75 at most other hotels) is appreciated. Great, inexpensive breakfast. And, again, a truly caring and happy staff, which is rare.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by IslandPJ Older Holiday Inn That is Nicely Remodeled
We have stayed at other Holiday Inns in the Lubbock area, but the ones close to the University were booked solid, so we opted for this one. It was actually pretty convenient since it is located on Loop 289, with a connecting street that is adjacent to Texas Tech. We only had 2 minor issues with this room: There was mildew on the bathroom tile above the bathtub and the tile floor in front of the tub made a "crunching" sound whenever you stepped out of the tub (sounded like the tile was installed as a sheet of tiles and had been cracked by having too much weight applied). Anyway, I reported the mildew and tile problem the following morning when we checked out, and the very nice lady at the front desk said she would have maintenance get on the problems right away. It has been my experience that Holiday Inns usually take care of problems as soon as they are brought to the attention of management. This hotel has a really pretty atrium area and our room faced onto the atrium. This was a nice touch. Also, our bed was very comfortable.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by puto good location easy on off
Hotel is overall quiet, has easy access to of highway, staff is ok,have stayed there due to work travel. Not once has staff acknowledge or greeted me while they are helping other customers, especially when there are 3 staff members helping one customer. The last two stays it has rained and unfortunately they have water buckets all over the general areas due to water leaks. The walking areas were soaking wet (carpet). I also was informed that the hotel was booked. I believe those rooms had water leaks, because in walking the windows were open and furniture was all over the rooms.

The hotel was nice. We enjoyed our stay. However in one of rooms we reserved, the A/C went out. In the change over of rooms in middle of night one of guest overlooked her make up. The next morni g it was not in room and never found. It had enough value that hotel should have offered compensation. It had to have been taken by who ever cleaned room or stolen off her cart. The next night the quest next door to same room were so loud no one could sleep. It was reportedly times but the partying never ended. I am very upset over the theft if the make up and no offer for compensation.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by PassingThruLubbock Poor value for dated room
In Lubbock there are dust storms that make everything outside dingy and worn appearing, including the door to our exterior room. The room also felt somewhat unsafe. Although the hotel is on its own fenced lot, there isn't much activity around to deter crime. When we had problems with our card key one of the guests who was hanging out in the parking lot indicated that he had been living at the hotel for several weeks and that problems with the locks were common and we should just "wait 10 minutes." Again, didn't seem the safest thing to do. When we decided to go back to the front desk the receptionist told us the key card was not working because we had evidently done something wrong, like carry it on our person together with a cell phone. If the cards are deactivated by cell phones, perhaps the hotel needs another system.
The room itself was large, but dingy and old. The wallpaper was peeling up and their were water stains down the wall. The closet was not used because it had a terrible B.O smell. The mattresses were old with a hollow in the middle into which we rolled. The bathroom was utilitarian, definetly not updated.
Even though we didn't like the outside room, when we went inside to the restaurant we noted the old pool/chlorine smell permeating the area - the inside rooms surround a large indoor pool. Not sure this would have been better.
All in all, not up to usual Holiday Inn standards.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cris22 Decent, but....
Was a good hotel, stayed with the softball all stars teams and was nice that our rooms were indoors where we can keep an eye on all the kids easily. This hotel does need some upgrades in the rooms, such as not all rooms have fridges or microwaves. For the price it should. But you can ask for them. Also if you have some type of allergies, you may have an issue, rooms are older and the inside area has lots of plants.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by norestguest Loud guests with non-responsive night staff.
We stayed at the property for two nights. Let me start by saying that the rooms are very large, beds are comfortable and the lady who was working the front desk in the morning and the lady who ran the dining room were both great (These are the reasons for our decent ratings)
Our first night we were next to a room which had a group of teenagers who banged on the walls, cursed, yelled and came in and out of their rooms. We first called the front desk about the issue at 10pm. They called the room next door and told them to be quiet. This lasted about 20 minutes. We called the front desk two more times until about 2am and they couldn't seem to quiet the teenagers. The noise lasted until about 4am. The next morning we went to the front desk and they said they were aware of the issue from the night log. We asked to be moved for the second night to avoid the same issue. On night two, the same teenagers were playing chase upstairs around midnight. They were sprinting past all the guests rooms and were very loud. I saw numerous other guests open their doors to see what the noise was about. Again, I called the front desk. The guy who answered seemed annoyed that I was calling and again, I don't think much of anything was done to quiet them. Not only that, but they put some poor new guest in our old room next to this loud group, so I can only imagine what their night was like, whether they complained or not. I am stil not sure why those guests were not kicked out of the hotel. Most disruptive quests I've seen in a hotel I was staying at.
The morning of checkout, we spoke to the lady at the front desk. Again, she said she heard about the issues and gave us free breakfast. At that time, we found out from the front desk employee that the manager heard about night one and had already comped that night. This was greatly appreciated, but going back to the poor communication issues, we never once heard from the manager to appolgize. Not a message on our phone in the room, note, or anything. The manager felt our complaint was valid enough to comp our entire first night, but didn't want to take the time to contact the customer? Even the employee at the front desk seemed surprised that we didn't hear from the manager.
So to be fair, if you take the loud guests who ruined our stay out of the equation, the hotel is very nice overall. Great A/C in the rooms, a nice looking indoor pool too, comfy beds, hot water, etc.. I was surprised at the low cost, but my experience proved that I got what I paid for.
