Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good atmospher I would reconmennd this hotel as the room was clean and the bed comfortable. The atmospere in the hotel was very good and I was pleased I had booked there. However, for anyone staying there before a flight I would reconmend a taxi to the airport as I booked and paid for the connecting bus but it did not turn up, so I missed my train, which meant I had an hours wait for a connecting train at Manchester Piccadilly. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hilton Manchester Airport Have stayed in Hiltons in various places and was not very impressed with this one. The service was sub standard, tables were dirty and my meal arrived with accompaniments missing. The staff on arrival failed to tell us that children could eat free so when we ordered we just went ahead and order for 4 and noone asked my husband at the bar if any of our party were children. The swimming pool shut far too early for my liking especially as it was over the weekend. After all of that, I was woken through the night by a family where the mother spent forever screaming at her children finally dropped off at about 4am. All in all won't be going back there. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nothing but good! Excelent gym and pool facilities. Helpfull and efficient staff. I will be staying here again! Cheers April 23, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid this hotel - terrible service and rooms with equipment that don't work 1. The deadbolt on the room wouldn't latch which was seriously not good. 2. The rooms are tiny with just enough space to walk around the bed. 3. The wall socket at the table only had one working electrical outlet. 4. The hem in the curtains had fallen out making the room look like a uncared for hotel. 5. I called the front desk after discovering all of this and requested a different room and I was told that all the rooms were booked. They did provide a power strip for me to use in my room. Makes me think that they have this problem frequently. 6. The next morning, I called the front desk to order a cab and it rang for a minute and no one answered. I hung up and tried again. It rang over a hundred times before someone answered the phone. 7. I went to the front desk to change coins to pounds. There were 3 people behind the desk and one customer who was being served. The other two didn't bother to wait on me until the manager told them to wait on me. April 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very convenient for airport but expensive bar prices Very convenient for airport . Shuttle service excellent with prompt drop off & pick up. Rooms reasonably comfortable room service good but very expensive bar prices . April 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overnight before flight This hotel is ideally situated for Manchester airport and the rate we received included parking for the duration of our holiday. Our room was on the 1st floor and there are no lifts in this hotel, but it wasn't an issue to take our cases up 1 flight of stairs. The room was compact but this wasn't an issue for 1 night. The housekeeping however left a lot to be desired. There was a layer of dust over everything, not just a thin (1 day) layer, but a thick layer. Perhaps the room hadn't been used for a while, but still should have been checked before occupancy. We were a family of 4 and there were only 2 bath towels. We ate in the bar for dinner and I must say the food was very good for the price. We didn't have time to use the leisure facilities. Overall, we had a good stay and would stay again. April 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wish i started doing this years ago. Got back from Sharm last night. Flying early Sunday so stayed the Saturday night before. Arrived, parked in long stay car park, week parking included in the price. Very straight foreward. Chilled, ate lovely meal, bed up early, breakfast.....all you can eat....starts at 4am. Transfer time arranged on arrival. Walked throught to pickup...5 minutes, transferred to Airport....Left the clothes from previous night in car. On return phoned Holiday Inn...told shuttle bewaiting. Followed verbal directions taking a wrong turn, our fault! (Think it b simpler to say you picked up from where you were dropped)...shuttle pulling away as we got there. Thought we would have a half hr wait. Phoned Hotel, 2 minutes a taxi pulled up...so no complains. Will be doing this again. Really Really Recommended. Mike April 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good location , poor maintenance We loved the inn 2 years ago. This year , our bathroom sink was stopped up; the hand shower was broken; the cold water in the tub didn't work; a light bulb was missing from the desk lamp; the carpet was stained. The location is amazing in that you can walk along the river on National Trust property while relaxing. Airport walk is also pleasant. March 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A good experience Made very welcome on arrival. Restaurant food and staff excellent Family room clean and spacious.Park and Fly facility extremely useful March 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by park and fly although not the cheapest deal in this category we have used this facility before and it is well worth considering for those, like me, who live some distance away from the airport and have an early morning flight to catch. the bedrooms are comfortable and quiet .The transport is included in the deal and is punctual but comes to the departure area not the arrival pick up.If I had read the rules at ! am I would not have had this long cold wait on the return journey March 6, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Expected better As a gold member i have high expectations of holiday inn hotels.. Arrived at hotel to find breakfast is not included nor is wifi.. Was asked if I wanted a newspaper in the morning. ....said yes.....and it never arrived. Bathroom was so small i had nowhere to put my toilet bag !!! My expectation of this HIH was high and the staff and the room failed miserably to make me feel special as a gold member. Do not plan to stay there again. February 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good accomodation but with reservations Stayed at this hotel twice within two weeks at start and finish of holiday abroad. First time ,room on ground floor as expexted for premier booking, Bus service to airport at 5 Am a great advantage. On return ,15 days later, bus service again convenient. Allocated Room however was a dissapointment as it was too small to have been desiginated ad a double. Noreal space for a couple to relax. Unfortunately car would not start after lying in the car park during a fortnight of freezing weather and heavy snow. Car battery had failed completly, and hotel did not have any facility for helping out (A lack of foresight, as dud batteries are a regular occurance acording to staff) Bar manager did offer to try a push start but Rac had already been called. Other tha a too small room on first floor, a good hotel and convient for long stay airport park. February 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good value A good stay, a good steak meal and a good swimming pool and gym, staff were all very friendly. February 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very welcoming we always find this hotel very convenient, transfer service very good, recreation facilities very good and overall feeling of security. February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room good service Stayed one night to be near to airport for early start. Staff very helpful, room lovely and comfortable. Would definitely stay again. February 15, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Shoddy Small, dirty but functional, I suppose. What a contrast when we got to the states! Stayed in a cheaper hotel that was amazing, huge rooms comfy bed and kitchen. We Brits should complain more February 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and Service good. Went to this particular Holiday Inn because it advertised 5 minutes from Airport. However a cab cost 15 pounds Sterling and the return to Airport shuttle at 5 pounds sterling dropped me off at the wrong terminal which meant I had to walk with luggage half a mile. However the hotel was comfortable, staff were courteous and helpful. Elevator was so small the bellboy walked up while I took the luggage to my floor. Room Service was at the time of request and wake up call bang on the time I requested. Overall good. February 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor service complicated instructions re parking / delay in transfer to& from airport v. poor management of arrangements February 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service - couldn't be faulted Our short stay at this hotel was made all the better by the excellent service we received upon check-in and also at check-out. Very friendly and would definitely recommend. February 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wifi The only disappointment was the lack of free wifi. The Hotel is very clean, up to date, and has a lot to offer. It was a surprise to not have wifi. January 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Will Use again on next trip On arrival the reception staff were very welcoming and soon had everthing organised. We were on a 'Stay and Park' visit and the parking facilities were excellent and secure. Our room was small with little room at one side of the bed otherwise it could not be faulted. We ate in the dining room in the evening and the food was good without being fantastic. We signed up to the hotel's Park and Stay scheme which gives some advantages. The transfers to and from the Hotel went like clockwork with little waiting time on our arrival back at the airport. I would like to thank the staff at the hotel all of whom were helpful and wellcoming. Will definitely use the Hotel again when flying from Manchester Airport. January 30, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel - Great however badly let down by very poor Airport Transfer Service Park & Fly Package booked. Our experience of the actual Holiday Inn hotel was very good, however the transport to and from the airport was horrible. Room clean and comfortable for the one night stay, hotel staff efficient, friendly and helpful - brilliant. Food in restaurant - excellent. The one big let down for this experience for us was the awful transfer process on our return. We arrived back to the UK on time and promptly collected our luggage calling the taxi firm (Club Cars) as per instructions as soon as we had our luggage. We were given directions to the collection point which took us all round the airport and told next collection was not for 45 mins - strangely. As we arrived at the collection point, a Club Cars bus pulled away. We ended up waiting just under an hour to be collected - outside the terminal 1 building, freezing. A mini bus turned up eventually, the driver making no attempt to get out of the bus. We knocked on the window of the bus to be welcomed with an exasperated sigh from the driver - yes, he was there o collect us. After nearly an hour wait, we stopped at another drop off point while the driver chatted to a colleague driver leaving the bus door open. All in all, hotel great but transfer service, disgusting - meaning as frequent travellers from Manchester, we would definitely choose another hotel next time, let down by airport transfer process. We are regular visitors to Holiday Inn Hotels, both in this country and in USA. January 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 2 day relaxing break We have stayed at this hotel many times before. The hotel is situate in nice grounds, has excellent leisure club facilities, nice rooms with comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, and good evening meals. The staff are helpful and pleasant and check in is quick and efficient. We often use the stay park and fly facility before travelling abroad, and also often stay the night when we return. On this occasion we just booked 2 nights bed and breakfast for a relaxing weekend break for my birthday. We find the hotel good value for money and overall enjoy staying there. January 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Near Christmas stay I stay here on occasion as I have an office a few miles away and its facilities are better than the other airport hotels, as this has a pool and gym. Staying on 20/21 December, I expected the place to be full of Christmas parties but apparently that had been the night before so thankfully it was peaceful and in fact much quieter than during the summer (for obvious reasons). Staff were polite although not over friendly for a hotel in the North. I didnt eat here in the evening but the breakfast was adequate, nothing special, a self service cooked breakfast with continental options. I would stay here again for business - not sure I would stay here if flying from Manchester though as there are many onsite hotels to choose from. January 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and friendly but expensive food * Staff on reception very welcoming, friendly and helpful. * Bed and room comfortable, although family room cramped when sofa bed opened for the children. But we were only staying one night so it was absolutely fine. * Bathroom clean and shower quite good. No toiletries though so don't forget your shower gel. * We ate in the bar/lounge area for dinner, which was comfortable and relaxing. However the food was VERY expensive, especially the sides. My chicken, bacon & mozzerella panini was £7.95 and was not great. It only had 3 tiny pieces on chicken, one small slice of streaky bacon and a bit of cheese so it was pretty dry as it was mostly bread. This was bad enough, but a side of chips was £3.25! And it was the smallest bowl of chips I've ever seen. They were very good chips, but must have cost about 25p per chip :0( That said, my parents-in-law ordered the BLT which they said, and it looked, much better. * The shuttle bus to the airport was 10 mins late and took around 15 mins as stated on the hotel information. However, that was at 06:30 on a Sunday morning so I would definitely allow extra time if you're travelling during the day. * Overall a good stay and we booked very early so got the room including a weeks parking and the airport shuttle bus for just £49 so excellent value room wise. Maybe just plan ahead and eat out :0) January 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Over priced food and drink and poor shower Positive - Friendly and very helpful reception staff, and the quick priority club check in Negative - The room the shower was pathetic for the standard of room that we had booked, and the bathroom was in need of some maintenance and repair. The hotel bar food and drinks were way over priced. January 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ok for a night I stayed here last year and had quite a large room on the ground floor. The swimming pool was lovely and the free shuttle to the airport made it great value for money. Last week we stayed for 2 days on the second floor. The carpet was stained and the walls were paper thin so that we got very little sleep on the first night (the tv from the room next door meant we could hum along to the x-mas tunes they were playing until 1am. The lady with the coughing fit in the other room beside us sounded like she was in our room. You could hear the toilets from the other rooms. The curtains were stained as was one of the pillows (although we did get 4 of them so could cope easily without the dirty one. My partner got a splinter from the bathroom door when first opening it as it swung off the rails. The free shuttle bus doesn't exist anymore and it cost £16 each way, per person to the airport. I don't know why people would stay here now rather than a Manchester hotel as there's nothing much to do in walking distance although easy to drive into town if you're not planning on drinking. The receptionist suggested a taxi was much cheaper. I asked for chilli con carne in the bar and asked if ok to swap the potato for rice. Was told yes. Was expecting the price on the bar menu £8 and was charged £12-room service rates. Contested this but said rice only came as a 'room package meal' and I'd get nachos and naan bread with it. When it came and I'd already paid, i got 6, dry, salted nacho crisps and was then told by the waitress that she'd been mistaken and there wasn't any naan bread. For the quality and quantity I wasn't happy- the bummers was £4.50 so £17 for a bar meal wasn't worth it at all. It cost £3.50 for a cappuccino but that tasted nice. January 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by General My recent stay was ok but was a little dissapoiinted when I was told I had been upgraded to a king room to find that the room wasn't that much different to what I had stayed in before when no upgrade had been available. The room was ok but did need a little more attention when being cleaned as behind the sofa and at the sides there was peanuts lying around and also one of the lamps above the bed had no bulb.My second problem was when going down for breakfast there was no one available so I was left to my own devices I was looking to request some coffee and better cooked sausages but there was nobody around.Has a platinum card holder I do enjoy holiday inn and partners nd am looking at the crown plaza in lax later in the year please don't let the usual high standards down just a little more attention to detail and the hotel would be fine January 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Welcoming staff and a comfortable room Welcoming staff and a comfortable room. Good size beds and nice breakfast December 16, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice restaurant but impossible to sleep Hotel has many good points. Restaurant service is excellent. Reception is usually polite and efficient. Parking is excellent. On this occasion though we were allocated a room next to the function room and as the night wore on the music got louder and louder (after 1.00am). Not good preparation for an early morning flight! Also not good to be told by the duty manager next morning that we had requested this room? Apparently this was a priority club room so if you are a priority club member and intend staying at this hotel it would be worthwhile checking in advance where your room is. We were not the only people complaining at check-out. December 9, 2012
