Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Amazing Value and Service This Holiday Inn was nothing but wonderful service and value. From the front check in to the restaurant workers to the housekeeping, everyone is friendly and helpful. Room was nice and spacious and clean. Beds and pillows were very comfortable and the room had everything you needed. Leather couch and chairs have seen better days and could use an upgrade. Same with the toilet--kept running. The breakfast buffet was what you would expect from a complimentary breakfast. Fully stocked and edible, though every morning there was something missing. One day there were no cups and another day no mugs. I list the few things that were in poor shape only to help the hotel earn a 5 star rating, as this location was a fantastic stay that I would definitely go back to again and again. I was very impressed. May 10, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not recommended I request to change rooms immediately as the bathroom counter was not cleaned and I was within proximity of the noisy ice machine when I made requests to have a quiet room. The change was granted promptly. I found this hotel badly in need of a reno and not what I have come to expect from Holiday Inn Suites. April 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Another Fire alarm This is the second time in the last three visits that the alarm was pulled and we were evacuated. Hot tub not working:( April 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always a good stay I stay here regularly when I am doing business in Markham. Very convenient, cost effective and comfortable. I can always count on a nice stay at this location. April 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Short Stay, a couple of issues I stayed for business at this location. Upon my arrival, there was food from a previous guest left in the fridge and garbage (including used tissues) in the desk drawer and bedside table. I chose to dine in the restaurant (Markham Bistro) and the service was slow and lack lustre. The wings were barely luke warm inside. On a plus side, I usually don't comment on service, but I told the waiter about the wings and he deducted a portion off my bill and offered me free dessert ( I declined) I then spoke with the gentlemen at the front desk in regards to the garbage in my room and the left over food in the fridge. They immediately asked me if I wanted complimentary drinks in the bar while my room was cleaned, I declined, so they provided me with a voucher for free breakfast. My hours did not allow for me to take advantage of the free breakfast, but I appreciated all the effort they made. I placed all the garbage outside of my door and it was taken away immediately. Overall it was a good stay, comfortable room, the a/c heater made a lot of noise but did not interfere with my sleep too much. April 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Staff! The hotel was nice, well maintained, and clean, but the hotel staff was top notch. They really went out of their way to ensure our comfort at every turn. I say this even though we had to evacuate the hotel at 6:00 am due to a fire alarm. The staff handled the event well and were accommodating throughout our stay. April 17, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst IHG hotel stay ever As a former Platimun Ambassador Priority Club member, I've stayed religiously at only IHG branded hotels whenever I can, and without any hesitation, I will say this was the worst stay I've ever had. When I booked the hotel, I asked the hotel to confirm if there were any conferences/etc booked and was told that nothing had been booked into the hotel. Upon arrival, the hotel was overrun by a convention. We had to wait an average of 15 minutes just to use an elevator, the room was tired and outdated, the hot tub was cold. To make matters worse, we could not get to sleep until well past 2AM as there was a party right outside our room. Upon checkout, the front desk staff seemed "surprised" that I dared to complain about the condition of the hotel and the noise from the convention. This is the very reason why I no longer hold my Ambassador status with IHG, as I've noticed a downturn in their levels of customer "care". Won't ever stay here again, much less another IHG hotel. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Complimentary room upgrade was a great start! We arrived at 1pm and even though check in time is 3pm, our was room ready AND we were given a complimentary upgrade to a Jr. Suite. Great start! Suite had sitting area with fridge, microwave, sink, coffee maker, large desk, pull out couch and flat screen tv. Bedroom had cabinet for clothing, dresser, a wonderfully comfortable king sized bed and ANOTHER tv. :) Room was spotlessly clean and housekeeping woman even asked if everything was okay in the room when we passed her in the hallway. All staff seemed equally ready to please and friendly. Did not eat in the restaurant but heard the food was fabulous. I'm assuming this hotel is not trying to be the Ritz or cater to the tourist due to its location, but to be more of a business stop or convention spot. Keeping that in mind, it's pretty darn close to being a 5 in it's category. Giving it a 4 because some of the wooden furniture seemed pretty worn and there was a very strange couch cushion that seemed to have a spring in it. Also, the wifi/internet was unbearably slow but, to be fair, we were there for a sci fi convention so I imagine the hotel was fully booked with gamers, etc., trying to use their computers and overloading things. And mayyybeeee just a tad pricey for the location. In any case, would absolutely stay there again. April 12, 2013
