Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Complimentary room upgrade was a great start! We arrived at 1pm and even though check in time is 3pm, our was room ready AND we were given a complimentary upgrade to a Jr. Suite. Great start! Suite had sitting area with fridge, microwave, sink, coffee maker, large desk, pull out couch and flat screen tv. Bedroom had cabinet for clothing, dresser, a wonderfully comfortable king sized bed and ANOTHER tv. :) Room was spotlessly clean and housekeeping woman even asked if everything was okay in the room when we passed her in the hallway. All staff seemed equally ready to please and friendly. Did not eat in the restaurant but heard the food was fabulous. I'm assuming this hotel is not trying to be the Ritz or cater to the tourist due to its location, but to be more of a business stop or convention spot. Keeping that in mind, it's pretty darn close to being a 5 in it's category. Giving it a 4 because some of the wooden furniture seemed pretty worn and there was a very strange couch cushion that seemed to have a spring in it. Also, the wifi/internet was unbearably slow but, to be fair, we were there for a sci fi convention so I imagine the hotel was fully booked with gamers, etc., trying to use their computers and overloading things. And mayyybeeee just a tad pricey for the location. In any case, would absolutely stay there again. April 12, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed but reservation mix-up and room challenges Booked two adjoining rooms because I was bringing two non-family minors with me. We arrived after 7 pm; the hotel was full with a conference. We did not get our adjoining rooms and we were allocated two separate rooms, but on the same floor. One of the rooms had an adjoining room, but someone else was in the other room. In the second room, the thermostat did not work nor did the dead-bolt. My guess is the original occupants of room 423 complained and were moved to the room adjoining room 418 - our reserved space. Not happy about this at all! First time I've had questionable service at this hotel! April 12, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Recommended If you are a business traveler stay away. The internet connectivity is the worst I have ever encountered. A simple connection to google website was 20 seconds. Trying to checkin for airline reservation was impossible. I spent most of my time at Starbucks to conduct business. March 30, 2013

The rooms were not always cleaned properly - garbage was not always removed, toilets were not always cleaned and the last day room service did not close my room door. I found the dead bolt engaged which prevented the door from closing. When I returned after a day of work, the door was left ajar - leaving my valuables at risk. March 29, 2013

The food at the restaurant was extremely slow at anytime you would sit down to order. The food is not that great either. One time I forgot my dress shirts in the closet and the housekeeping staff mailed them to me express - free of charge! I feel confident that I'll always be taken care of at Holiday Inn Markham. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel Jason, who works in the front desk, is kind and considerate. We were given a huge 2 queen beds suite. The room has everything we needed: large writing desk, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, 2 telephones. There is still room at the other corner for a round table and an arm-chair. The staffs and house keepers are all friendly and helpful. They say hello and how are you with a welcoming smile. We stayed for 9 days in the hotel and felt it was home away from home. The free and ample outdoor and indoor parking; the proximity to highways 404, 7 and 16th ave., where many excellent Chinese Restaurants are located, is a bonus. January 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable bed in junior suite. We had reserved a large suite but the front desk suggested we take a smaller suite away from the noise. There were 8 hockey teams in the hotel that weekend and we appreciated the quiet of the smaller suite on the 3rd floor. And we were offered breakfast coupons as compensation for the change. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms Upon our arrival on the 9th floor the hallway had an odor. We had a wedding party and used 3 rooms. The TV's in the 2 rooms suit were not working properly. The heating system in the suit was only in the bedroom. There was no system in the living room. In order for the 2nd room to have heat, you needed to leave the bedroom door wide open. The other room we were in the phone did not work. On the day of the wedding we were gone until 3:30 and our rooms were not cleaned. At that point we needed to shower and dress. Housekeeping leaves at 4:30 so our rooms were not cleaned. The pool was great, and the pool area was very clean January 7, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Markham Holiday, nice I am pretty fussy. The room was in very good condition and recent update within a year or so. Good size room, good view, all toiltetries, dryer, iron, coffee maker. I ordered room service coffee, this was a fair price for a hotel. ( $5 for a pot) .Staff very pleasent! The lobby was older but very clean and nice too. I will stay here again! January 3, 2013

THAT WAS GREAT WHEN WE GOT TO THE HOTEL TO CHECK IN WE WERE INFORMED THAT WE WERE UPGRADED TO THE 11 TH FLOOR FOR BEING A PRIORITY CLUB MEMBER , WE DID NOT REALIZE TILL WE GOT TO OUR ROOM THAT IT WAS A SUITE AND THAT WAS GREAT !! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel was fine, room location was terrible As a frequent traveler for work, I stay in many hotels and most of them are Holiday Inns. I have never had a room as inconveniently located as the one I had at this hotel. My room backed up to the elevator shaft and the bed was on the wall against the elevator. The bell for the elevator could be heard at all hours. My room was also located across from a hospitality suite that was utilized by a group until well after 11pm. I called the front desk numerous times to ask for the room to keep the doors closed. Each time the front desk came up to request the group close the door, they obliged only as for as long as it took for the front desk person to leave and then the door was re-opened and the noise carried across the hall. I am rarely one to call the front desk to complain but I felt this room was one of the worst I've ever experienced based on location. I was offered a different room but it was after 9pm on the second day and not worth the trouble to move when I was assured the group would not be in the hospitality suite after 11pm. The hotel was clean and the staff relatively helpful but my experience was not the best. December 4, 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bring your own Internet Overall it was a nice stay. My only issue was a customer internet connection (wired and WiFi) that was so slow many websites refused to load. I ended up sharing my iPad's internet connection to my laptop so I could do some work from the room. November 22, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average stay, could be tough parking sometimes The hotel was clean and had everything that you would possibly be needing while you were there. When you sit in the tub, you see all the dirt behind the toilet and also the unneeded items under the vanities. If you check out behind the night tables and behind other things, you could also see stuff that shouldn't be there. Other than that, it was a good stay. November 21, 2012

As a woman travelling alone with my child this trip, safety was on my mind and I felt safe at this location. We happened to stay on the night of an event and as the evening wound down we were able to hear revellers in the hallway quite clearly. The room was clean and decent value for the rate. Front Desk Staff is always more than accommodating. Nice pool and hot tub and exercise machines. Convenient to main roads, etc. Very nice buffet breakfast and service is wonderful . There is plenty of free parking. We always stay there when travelling through the Toronto area. November 4, 2012

According to the front desk ,all rooms have this problem. Otherwise the room & hotel was very nice. We went to a hotel catered brunch & food was very good. Better than i expected. October 16, 2012
