Excellent number of plugs for electronic gadgets
Only half of jets in hot tub worked
Microwave in room did not work
Serving dinner in bar because dining room was under renovation with a band playing and private party was very uncomfortable
The room was excellent; great pillows, bed, and layout of the room
Security door was not working, could open without key
Pool area was clean and plenty of towels
Reception desk and area was well maintained
All reception workers were friendly and efficient. They exceeded our expectations and provided the type of room we needed. Excellent service by far over other hotels we have stayed with.

The room was clean but cold. It took several hours for the room to warm up after we turned the heater on. They must keep the heat turned down in the rooms to save on heating costs. Ask to to have the room heated when you make your reservation.
The front entrance does not have automatic doors, so don't load up your arms and expect to walk right in. The doors open out, and there are two sets. The desk attendant did not offer to help open the doors, she just agreed that they are a pain.

After traveling through Gaylord, we were desperate for a pet friendly hotel. HIE Marquette was available and we jumped on it. We were totally suprised and comforted by our welcome to Marquette. From the Front Desk staff, to the comfort and cleanliness of the room, we breathed a huge sigh of relief and rested comfortably.
Lest this review sound too perfect, please note that the room was noisy. To the point where we had to place a call to the from desk (it was 11:30pm). The party in the room next to us moved to another location quickly!
Overall, we would recommend this hotel for ANY weary traveler!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JWTJ Old, noisy. Lots of better places to stay in Marquette
1.) Called down to ask a food question. When food was ordered, learned I was given the wrong information.
2.) VERY NOISY - First floor room, lots of hallway noise, equipment and elevators running, hear all conversations in adjoining rooms.
3.) Breakfast is not convenient. Have to go to a restaurant and give a coupon to order 1 of 3 choices. Should have a complementary buffet.
4.) HVAC was hard to control. Too hot then too cold. Noisy-on/off all night.
5.) Someone brought a large DOG into the restaurant!!!
6.)

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Kirkmandu Older property with small rooms and no effective desk to work at.
Choices in hotels is somewhat limited in the Marquette area. I stayed at this Hoiday Inn since it was the only option in the area at the time. I would not choose to stay at this property again.
The room space was very cramped. There was no desk. It only had a tall round table with low stufffed chairs next to it. The only place to use a laptop was sitting on the bed. I depend on having a work space in my rooms so this property is off my list.
Plumbing fixtures were in poor condition.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tomar405 Average - dated hotel/rooms.
Few unused electrical outlets for visitor use - heavy steel (non ADA) fire doors to traverse through in order to get to your room, The rooms, hallways all are dated. Hotel facade desperately needs a face lift and rooms need a remodel - the restaurant and bar are nice with decent menu (though the bar tender was a little "snarky" on my visit). Space for a refrigerator in entertainment center but no refrigerator... No morning paper, no bottled water or room upgrade for Priority Club member.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by tyler don't expect to order food anywhere near 10pm
I caught the late flight in like a number of guest checking in and I asked the front desk staff around 9:45 if I was still able to order food. The kitchen closed at 10pm so they said yes. I asked them if they were sure because I know some places close their kitchens earlier than the stated time. The two women at the desk were very nice and said why don't go to the bar and order before checking in to make sure I got something to eat and I did. I stood for 5 min. while the bartender walked by me numerous times and finally asked if I needed anything. I wanted to see the menu and he said the kitchen was closed. I was tired and hungry (had been on planes since 2pm) and now upset. I went to check in and also let the ladies know they wouldn't serve me (now it's 9:55 which they confirmed on their phones). They did call the kitchen on my behalf to allow me to order but the kitchen manager I believe said that maybe she could try and put something limited together if I'd like. I know what spiteful cooks do (I worked in restaurants for 9 years) so I declined and had to go out in the rain and drive the town to look for food. This place has done this to me a few times in the past. If the sign says 'til 10pm, there should be a full menu until then.

We stayed here one night and found the accommodations comfortable; the restaurant was excellent for breakfast and there is a nice indoor swimming pool. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Only drawback was that US Today doesn't arrive until late morning (after we checked out). The hotel is undergoing renovations, but we found it in very nice condition at the present time.

Unknown to me, I was given a free upgrade without asking, so awesome. This is by far the most outstanding Holiday Inn I have ever stayed at and continues to be my only favorite. In the morning I go down to the restuarant and greeted by Cher, who welcomes me back, it pays to be a regular customer! It was so much like home away from home, I could have stayed all week! The UP is truly God's Country when you are staying at Marquette Holiday Inn!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holmessidekick excellent staff continues
even with the loss of kayla and stacy (hard to lose that kind of leadership), the staff has hung together and continued to provide a welcome feeling as I am greeted upon arrival. Karla, Becky, and Nate (still getting to know the names of some of the new kids) always have time to answer questions or visit for a short time to catch up on "what's new". They go out of their way to make sure my stay is comfortable and worry free. At a resent stay, Nate was able to get me in a room around 10:00 in the morning when I had problems with my truck and needed service at Frei. It's a pleasure to stay at the Holiday Inn, Marquette.

This hotel has a great pool and services. however the maid service did not clean my room or even look at it the first day. I had to complain to the desk clerk. The next day it was clean. Also noise from the rooms around and the hall bleeds through the walls. The room next to me had his cell phone set for 5am, and kept hitting snooze after about 10 min each time.
