I preferred staying in my lovely hotel room more than I wanted to venture out and view the city. It was so relaxing. It was a vacation spot that you couldn't wait to get back to the hotel. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by still construction in the area... I arrived late in the evening after a storm passed through. The area is still under construction and I almost buried my rental car in high water because there were NO markings. When I asked the hotel staff who we could contact so others would not have the same problem, they just shrugged it off. The restaurant was about to close so rather than go to my room, I took my luggage to the bar to pickup some food. I have stayed and eaten here before and most of the time, the food is pretty good. This time, the soup I ordered looked and tasted as if it had been simmering in a pot all day. My service was provided by the bar person and the whole restaurant area was dark - you had to walk through a dark restaurant to get to the bar, no other entry. The service was OK, which has always been the case at this location but the food was barely edible. I chose to get food from fast food restaurants in the area rather than eat at this location during this last stay. When I checked in not only did they shrug off my concern about the flooded exit near the hotel but they made NO attempt to recognize my IHG member status. Nothing was in the room, no comment was made and no recognition was afforded. I've stayed in this same room in the past and the problems I had with no HOT water have been fixed though I did make sure to check as soon as I walked in the room before I even unpacked. Last time I was put in the room and just asked to be moved rather than even take the time to check. In addition, I have had trouble with the TV control on previous visits, that too has been repaired. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and convenient place to stay Large bathroom and shower, and there was a timed heat lamp in the bathroom, I haven't seen one in years, and I really liked having it. The room had a ceiling fan, that was nice. The room and beds were comfortable. The hotel location was great, resturants and shops near by. I peeked in the snack shop, it was really stocked well with a great variety of snacks. I liked this place and this is where I hope to stay next trip to McKinney. April 23, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not bad, but not perfect The hotel room was narrow but very nice. The TV was a modern flat screen mounted to the wall. Small refrigerator and microwave were also in the room. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were not. They were long and round and too tall. The pillows were all the same size. This hotel does not offer guests a free breakfast buffet, not even a donut or cereal. Looking at the menu, I noted that the restaurant prices were high. No breakfast vouchers were offered, even for Platinum members (I used points for my room). WiFi was available but the counter personnel did not mention that the password was in the paper wallet with the card keys. Fitness center was average, not great. Pool was small but design layout was attractive with the waterfall. March 16, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Visiting my daughter I was pleased to see that I was upgraded after I was nicely greeted on my late arrival...around 9:30 pm, Thursday night. The king suite was comfortable and offered two areas for TV watching so it came in handy when one of us wanted to sleep and the other wanted to watch a show. Enjoyed the stay! Breakfast Sunday morning was great. Had the buffet. The check out time of noon worked very well with my plans. February 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel - Comfortable Beds We stayed one night in this hotel while we were visiting the Dallas area. The hotel is fairly new and has close access to I-75. Upon checking in I was given a voucher for a free drink or appetizer for being a platinum member. (got a free appetizer and it was tasty) When asked if I could get an upgrade the front desk person first told me that there were no rooms clean. When I told her that's ok, I can wait, she called someone on the phone and said she was told the house was full tonight so no upgrade available. I seriously doubted that since there were maybe only 30 cars in the parking lot. Anyways, went up to room and was pleasantly surprised. The room was nice, updated, and clean. There was even a microwave and mini refrigerator. The only thing was there was no bathtub in this room and it appeared to have been a handicap accessible room. The chair in the room was a chaise lounge which was great to be able to prop legs up. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would consider staying here again if we are ever in the area. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worse stay yet I wrote an email describing our visit to Holiday Inn. Got a form email back promising a response within 48 hours. It has been 4 days and nothing. Only bright spot was breakfast. Service was outstanding. Food was very good. We have stayed at this hotel several times since it opened and have always been pleased. The hotel this time was in disarray and seemed dirty in areas. Front desk staff was very indifferent. Not only to me but every guest I observed while sitting in the lobby. January 29, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Requests not met We had requested (both on line and called the day of arrival) a quiet room not overlooking the freeway and upon check in we were assigned a room that faced the freeway. the only other room was a non-suite at the end of a hallway. The front desk clerk told me our room rate could not be adjusted. also the TV was not working properly and we were told this could not be fixed either. We asked for a regular blanket and not a comforter. I was told the hotel did not have regular blankets. The business center printer was out of order and I could not easily print my boarding pass. upon check out I was charged for an extra night. So overall, this was not a good experience. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ist time here. Won't be last. I travel a lot for business and frequently stay in the McKinney area. This is the first time I have stayed at this property, but it is now going to be my preferred destination when in the area. Staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable and amenities were top notch. After a long business day, the convenience of having a full service lounge with a complimentary beverage is truly appreciated. There are quite a few dining options available within a short distance including a restaurant on site (which I did not eat at but will on future stays). The only downside to this property was the highway construction which made it a little difficult to get to, but this is not the fault of the hotel and is temporary. Definitely will be back. Alex,bartender/waiter was extremely helpful. Returned with 18 people at close to 10 pm and all were fed cheerfully and expertly! Great place and great people! December 9, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Everything was great. We arrived extremely late, but the room was ready for us. No muss no fuss, check in and go to bed. This was wonderfull. At a 4 star hotel, they cancelled our room and made us wait in the lobby for several hours. So I cannot stress our pleasure at being handed the keys and sent to our room within 5 minutes of our arrival. We will definitely stay here again. December 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Never Got Working Keys!!!!!!! We arrived the night before Thanksgiving after a long drive up from Austin in traffic. I had called the hotel to let them know that it would be a late check in since we got a late start leaving from the Austin area. We arrived at around 11:30PM. My 6 year old was asleep so I went in and got our keys so I could just carry him up while my husband and 12 year old got our luggage. We were in town for Thanksgiving to visit family and have stayed at this hotel many times and NEVER had any issues previously. We got up to our room and both keys wouldn't work in the door. My husband went down to the front desk and he reprogrammed the keys. When he came back up the keys still didn't work in the door. By this time my 6 year old was awake as we were standing in the hall. I gave him to his Dad and I went downstairs this time. The man at the front desk said that the key reader on the door must be out and that he would put a work order in for the door, but that he has a master key and could come let us into the room. We were staying 2 nights and we needed to have working keys because the next day we would be coming and going, so I asked if there was just another room that he could switch us to? He switched us to the room next door since my family was upstairs standing in hall waiting. He reprogrammed the keys for that room and I headed back upstairs. When I tried the same keys in a different room guess what....THEY STILL DIDN'T WORK!!!!!! I then went back down stairs, AGAIN and this time requested that he get different keys because apparently it was the keys since they weren't working in 2 different doors now. He refused and insisted on reprogramming them yet again. I had to wait while he checked in 2 other people and then he came upstairs to watch me try the keys in the door. When they still didn't work he used his "master key" to open the door and let us in so we could go to sleep. It was now 12:15AM!!!! Yes 45 minutes to get into a room. He said that he would get new keys and slip them under the door so that we would have them in the morning. Woke up the next morning and still didn't have keys. My six year old loves to order room service for breakfast so we do every time we stay here. Normally this is great too, but like everything else this trip it wasn't! It arrived cold. The hash browns were skillet potatoes. There was no syrup for my 6 year old's pancakes or sugar for the carafe of coffee we ordered. Then it took 15 minutes to get the syrup and sugar brought up and girl that brought it up seemed most put out that she had to bring it up. My family lives in Allen and I choose this hotel over the Holiday Inn Express in Allen because normally the staff is so nice and we've always enjoyed our stays. I'm sure I'll be back because I'll give it another try, but I'm really hoping it's back to the super service I've come to expect at this hotel. November 30, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friday night stay We came to McKinney for a baseball tournament and stayed at the hotel. Very comfortable, plenty of room for everyone! Love the separation of spaces so that kids have their area and adults have theirs. Used the workout room which had just what I needed. Breakfast buffet was great too. The on-site restaurant offers a nice selection at decent prices, and the hotel is close to other dining choices as well. The bar area is a huge plus for a night-cap, or to enjoy a televised game with friends. Don't forget to have breakfast before you leave. The morning wait staff is friendly, efficient, and courteous; they always start my day on a positive note. November 10, 2013
