Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PapawAl Second Stay at this Hotel
The friendliest staff ever. Smiling faces, friendly voices, everything you want a hotel staff to be.
This was our second stay at this Holidome and both stays were great.
The only thing I didn't like was wearing a wrist band. The gestapo came by and checked to make sure we had ours on. Should have known us by day two.
Other than the wrist band, the stay was great. The grand children enjoyed the pool and games. 75 cents was a little high for the motorcycle and car games.

I stayed labor day weekend 2013. At check-in, they wrote down the wrong room number for me. So, my room keys wouldn't work!! When I went back to the front desk, there was another guest with a room key problem.
The property is old and not renovated. The bathroom is out of date and dingy looking. The weather was warm and the air conditioning in the hallway wasn't working. It was very hot in the hallway.
You don't automatically get free breakfast!! They told me my room rate didn't include breakfast. Just as well though. The restaurant looked very dated and the staff appeared to be completely disorganized. It didn't look like a place I wanted to eat.

Not a bad place to stay. If travailing through St. Louis again we would likely stay again. The lobby was nice, and the rooms were fresh. The hallways and stairwell seemed a little old and stale, but since that's not where I was sleeping, it didn't really bother me any. Overall a good experience.

After a less than pleasant stay last year in St. Louis I must say that I was reluctant, but decided to give Holiday Inn another chance - in an different location. The Saint Louis I-55 did not fall short in any way. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they actually did have what I consider a Holi-dome (indoor pool, arcade, hot tub plus outdoor pool). The Staff were friendly and super accommodating, the rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The pools were clean and there was plenty of towels available. The restaurant was not overpriced and food was good and the kids really enjoyed the hot cookies and cold milk in the evening. Since the kids really enjoyed everything it had to offer it was especially nice to be able to have a later check out being a rewards member. If your planning a day at Six Flag I would highly recommend taking the short drive to go to this particular hotel.

Your hotel was our first stop on a 15 day vacation where we stayed in many hotels along the way. You were our first stop and our favorite stop! Thank you! The hotel facility was nothing in particularly special beyond what you would expect. It was clean and offered everything we needed. The building was safe and secure. The location was near the highway for easy access, but surprisingly quiet. The pool area was clean and pleasant and the games were fun for the kids. The restaurant food was reasonably priced and and there was something on the menu for everyone in our group.
What really made this our favorite hotel of all was the service. From the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left, the staff was amazing. We only stayed one night but we had multiple experiences where the staff went above and beyond to offer their assistance. The check in desk made sure we got the room we had requested, we requested towels and received them immediately, the servers at dinner and breakfast both took special care to attend to us and our meals. They even assisted us in getting postcards from a neighboring hotel when we mentioned we would like some pictures of the arch. They were amazing! Thank you. Our kids really liked the chocolate chip cookies at bedtime too. That is a very nice touch.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jeffner31 Standard hotel, but better than normal atmosphere!
I made reservations over the phone two or three weeks prior to our stay. I asked for adjoining rooms, and I was told that we would need to make that request at check-in. When we arrived, we were sad to find out there weren't any adjoining rooms left that were available. We were on a sister trip with kids, so it would have stopped the young ones from wearing out the hallway going back and forth between rooms. That was truly our only complaint of the trip.
At check-in, the gentleman was very kind & was patient with our questions and split payment requests. We noticed a little sign on the counter that said something in regards to "it's going to be a fun weekend!" The sign explained that the recreation area would be used by guest family & friends and it stays open until midnight. They explained that the noise level would be up. Being young parents, we thought this was fabulous to be upfront and honest! And even though we aren't party animals anymore, it made us feel better knowing we wouldn't have to make sure our kids were quite as mice. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. We had two rooms, both with 2 queen beds. Only one of the rooms had a mini fridge - it wasn't a problem, just thought it was strange.
We took advantage of the outside pool all afternoon, and the kids even dipped in the outside whirlpool. It was a nice atmosphere and plenty of pool lounge chairs. After having dinner out, the kids took a swim in the indoor pool. We have an almost-three-year-old, and she loved the kiddie pool - stayed in it the entire time. The whole rec room was full. Kids, adults, teenagers. People had tables pushed together, kids were playing the games, people swimming, people in the hot tub, playing ping pong, etc. It was a really neat place to be. The kids and my sister in law both said they would have their birthday parties there! Not sure if the hotel was full due to (possibly) a softball or baseball tournament, or if it's always that busy, but it would be perfect for a group to stay together.
We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, I know my sister looked after using the workout room, but we simply decided to eat at a favorite restaurant down the interstate.
All in all, good stay and would def book again!

Came to St. Louis for a concert, stayed here for our second night. This hotel has a Holidome with an indoor and an outdoor pool. Rooms were very nice, clean and comfy. Pool areas really nice, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone coming to the area, and we will definitely stay here again.

we stayed during the 4th of July week - we loved the hotel and service. Breakfast was the best - best service and food I have ever had from a hotel. I would stay again. The only down side was it a little far from the Arch and baseball field. But it wasn't that far from Grants farm or sixflags.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great front desk and very clean rooms
Excellent stay! All the staff was super friendly and linens were exceptionally clean. The front desk was very pleasant to speak with and more than happy to share local information such as places to eat, good places to raise a family - you name it! Also, the indoor and outdoor pool area was stunning! It felt like I was at an arcade/water park. Just a great experience overall.

I have stayed at this hotel for over 2 months now and have had a wonderful experience here.
The front desk staff have helped me with my every need and request.
Renee, the dining room morning manager, and the rest of the Breakfast Club servers including Elizabeth, Jess, Sam, and Colie have made me feel like a friend and not just a guest. For this I am thankful and will keep coming back to this hotel as long as business in this area requires me.
Thank you all at the Holiday Inn South.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GrammaKathy Comfortable beds and wonderful pools and recreation center for the kids
This place was wonderful in almost all areas. We have never had the perfect location in a room before our stay here. It was 152!! Steps away from the out door pool, Steps away from the bar and restaurant , and lobby and parking !!! The only thing I was disappointed in was that there was NO refrig and microwave. We asked for one and later the first evening we got one that had seen its better days ---- and it DID NOT work at all. We told them but nothing better ever showed up and no microwave and that was o.kay since we didn't have a refrig anyway! We stayed 2nights and pretty much 3 days with 2 preteens so that would have been very much appreciated by all! We were able to check in early at 2:00 which was great as we had been driving all day and it was so hot by you the kids couldn't get in the pool fast enough! Another con was that the A/C was louder than other places. Would not hesitate for a second to stay with these folks again! Thanks!!!

We found the location to be perfect for our needs, the surrounding area was pleasant and there was convenient shopping nearby. We had to arrive late, in the wee hours, but we called ahead to let them know and there was no problem at all getting our rooms when we arrived which I appreciated since we were tired after being on the road.
The lady at reception was very accommodating and friendly. I found the room to be cozy and comfortable and loved the large shower head. Also liked that we were able to check out later than usual because of being Priority Club members. I do recommend this hotel. We had a nice stay!

I always have mixed emotions about this hotel. I like the on site bar and restaurant for those days I don't feel like venturing out. There was promise of a new menu but haven't seen it yet.
In general the rooms are clean, however on my last trip I let them know at the desk that the couch in the room was filthy. It should be removed. I wonder if it was.
The bar and restaurant staff are great and friendly. Tip them well.

Traveling with children is always a challenge, but Holiday Inn makes it easier. This hotel was wonderful for keeping the kids occupied and giving us a chance to relax a little. The common area with a pool, hot tub and video games was the perfect place to relax in the evening and let the kids burn off energy. The rooms were spacious and clean; beds comfortable. This hotel is older, but is has been maintained well. The breakfast buffet in the morning is not free, but not too expensive. It was nothing special, but the old standards were offered.
We originally booked a competitors hotel nearby, but were unhappy after our first night. I am pleased that I was able to book the Holiday Inn and it made up for my initial disappointment.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Travellingwithkids Great for kids...
We had a very enjoyable stay and my kids loved it. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The kids loved the play area and it was a great help that there was a shallow pool as well as a big pool (making it easier for little kids to play). The staff went out of their way to do some helpful things, like giving the kids some cookies when it wasn't yet cookie time and accommodating our vegetarianism even though the menu didn't have vegetarian options for adults (which is not uncommon, but many places are not willing to be so accommodating). The indoor pool area is very pleasant and it was an easy drive into the city for business because of the close proximity to the freeway. Our room wasn't flashy or modern, but it was very pleasant and comfortable and the kids loved being able to look out the window at the pool.

I used to stay at the Butler Hill HI a lot over the last 25 years but rarely stay there now. The hotel rooms are in need of a modern upgrade. Very dated. There are other choices that are a better value. I am a Priority Club member and stay at Holiday Inns, Intercontinental, and Crowne Plaza as much as possible. The Butler Hill property is one of the worst.
