Had A/C problem in car. Peter most helpful in contacting garage for help. He indicated I was a hotel guest, and he would appreciate them accommodating me promptly.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hawkeye stevenson Nice hotel
Nice quiet hotel; about 7 miles from downtown; easy to get around Lots of good places to eat nearby and a mall is close. The room setup was very nice as all the rooms are suites with individual areas for the bedroom and sitting area with a door in the middle for privacy. The staff was first rate and on the second floor is a fascinating history of the founder of the chain who just happened to be from Memphis and this was his last hotel that he owned and designed.
The drawbacks were in the furnishings and fixtures. The furniture was very outdated and needs to be replaced or updated. The toilet was old; the handle broke; however, we reported this on a Sunday morning and it was immediately fixed; most impressive! The curtains were hard to operate and they had holes in them letting the sun shine through them.

Me senti bem confortável, mas o carpete do quarto não tinha aparencia de muito limpo.

I stay here every time I'm in Memphis. Everything is excellent , however, I would avoid the restaurant.

This building is older and also serves as a teaching hotel right across the street from the University of Memphis. It has an impressive lobby with high ceiling, glass elevators, balcony floors. I understand hotels in Memphis are pricey overall. Compared to those, this is less cost, but it doesn't have a breakfast included in price or a pool. Our room had stains in the carpet and I'm sorry to say the toilet was not thoroughly cleaned. It was gross. I had problems with the WiFi. Compared to other rooms on our trip of similar hotel class, I'd say it is not the best value.
I also do not like the restrictions in cancellation policy. You will be charged at 6PM the day before your stay, unlike most other Holiday Inns I've stayed at (6PM night of).
* close to the Pink Palace which is why we chose this hotel
* comfortable beds
* smoke free
* fridge, microwave, hair dryer, coffee maker
* friendly staff
* thick walls, floors; better sound proofing than newer hotels
Cons, besides those listed above:
* only 1 or 2 blocks north of sketchy area. I wouldn't leave anything in your vehicle
* bathroom door is very wide. It is a hassle to close door as it consumes all free bathroom space (and we are a lean family)
* room's thermostat didn't work properly
* no queens, only double/full
* $9 for toast, 1 piece of fruit, and a drink? Really? Go to Kroger. It's only a mile or two away (NW of hotel)
Lastly, I saw this location had some presidential suites. They are a nice size, but no outside windows. How do I know this? Because they're right off the elevator and back wall is the hallway to other guest rooms. Just FYI. There is a small window on the side of the lobby.
Would I stay here again? Probably not.
