Das Holiday Inn - Mönchengladbach ist definitiv mein Favorit an diesem Ort. Super Hotel mit Nähe zur Altstadt.

Postitives: Besides all negatives staff remains friendly and courteous
Negatives: Hotel looks like it is straight out of the 1970s and has apparently not been renovated since it was opened.
Whole place, especially rooms, have a stale smell, a mix of cold smoke, old/wet carpet and room freshener, a combination that really gave me a bad headache,
Mattresses have apaprently not been renewed since the opening, you will literally sink into them like in a hammock.
Furniture and applaince old, scratched and stained.
Absolutely not recommended (provided same feedback to corporate travel agent), might come back if the place gets renovated.

Very disappointed on the speed. Claim downloads speed upto 250mbs but in reality only between 2 to 4mbs.

All was great with this hotel. The only negative is that they charge for the internet connection which is wireless. Very nice hotel desk staff and they spoke English which is my language.

Actually we had nothing to do in Moenchengladbach. The reason to choose this hotel was just its location as I came for shopping in Roermond outlet. So it took only 25 minutes by car to get there and back from HI Moenchengladbach. This hotel provides private parking right in front of main entrance for 8,5 euro /24 hours with option to drive in&out. So it was very comfortable for us as we were coming back with lots of bags after shopping.
All the staff memebers were highly polite and helpful from the very beginning of our stay. I was given an Executive Room for the price of Standard one. 50% discount for WiFi was also very pleasant. Our room was always very clean and well equipped. The common atmosphere inside the hotel is very quite.
Breakfast is really good. The only thing is missing - espresso machine, but this is rather my personal preference.
We also had experience with dinners at Lobby Bar. So I would like to thank kitchen staff & waiters for their great job. Very good meals for reasonable price. There is also a very nice restaurant in 5 minutes walking distance from the HI, on the other side of Speicker Strasse. I don't remember its name but you can obtain it just asking the Front Desk staff.
So we are pretty happy with my 3-nights stay at this hotel.

As a platinum member, IHG always makes sure that you are recognised as a valued customer. Not in this hotel, it is the first time since becoming a platinum member. Upon check-in, they did not even recognise me as a platinum member which is normally what I will experience in all IHG hotels where I stayed before, no extra benefit other than what they give to all priority club members. No complementary upgrade which is a benefit of a platinum member. Upon check-out, the staff is unfriendly, they just gave me a bill without saying thank you. Not even offering to put it in an envelop. Management of this hotel should actually update their service to be in line with IHG standard and should recognise loyal members as well.
