Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff The staff was all around great. Very friendly and helpful. which made up for all the cons of the hotel. The facility needs a makeover. They also turned the hot water off late at night (can't shower around 2 or 3 a.m. no hot water). Beds very uncomfortable. April 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer Service and a resort to relax We had stayed from 4/10-4/14 and really enjoyed the stay. The Staff at HI are very friendly and very helpful. All of the staff that we have interacted with, went the extra mile to help us with our requests. The resort was very clean and the staff was always walking around and picking up the cups and plates that had been left by the guests. HI was really more than a home away from home. April 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by COMFORT AND RELAXATION As always, my stay was great. It's easy to relax, whether in the room, on the balcony, on the beach. I really enjoyed my stay. April 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sunspree Jamaica We had a great experience in Montego Bay, the hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, 90% of the people were very very nice and helpful. There were a few that seemed to be having a bad day. ( in Jamaica?) The food was good and there was a lot of it. I had to remind myself I was not at a restaurant in the US. I was in Jamaica eating Jamaican food. I want the whole experience! The beach and weather was wonderful. Even though it there were a lot of people, I never felt crowed. The resort is spacious. I plan on returning, and would highly recommend! April 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by An Enjoyable Stay This was my second time staying at Holiday Inn Montego Bay within the last 2 1/2 yrs. There is overall improvement in the variety of food served; the entertainment is impressive and the general rapport with the staff is great. There was one negative experience on this occasion. On the first day, after I arrived I noticed that the water trickled from the shower and after contacting customer service 2 x by phone a maintenance worker came by, looked at the shower and never returned. After 2 hrs of waiting I called again and after waiting for another 1/2 an hour no one came. I walked to the lobby and spoke to someone in customer service who was able to get another worker to come within 15 minutes and change the shower head. During my shower the water backed up, taking a long time to drain, indicating another plumbing problem. It took too many phone calls and too much waiting to change a shower head, so we just made sure we each did not take showers back-to-back. Despite that, I would return to Holiday Inn. Service in all the other areas was good. April 15, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for For an all-inclusive, this was a decent value, considering neighboring resorts were WAY more expensive. On the plus side, the daily and nightly entertainment was fun, the pool was clean, the buffet had a decent selection (the pizza was really good), and the bed was comfy. On the negative side, we didn't get a room until 4:30pm (we arrived at 11am# so needless to say we all were sunburned and very crabby by the time we did get our Kidsuite #which was just ok#. Our air conditioning didn't work properly so our room stayed at about 75 degrees #didn't seem too bad in 90 degree weather, but we didn't know it was broke at first#. On our fourth day, the a/c leaked all over our room and all over my husband's suitcase - luckily based on other reviews of overflowing toilets #ours broke twice but never overflowed), I made sure all of our luggage was up off the floor. Room service just mopped it up and never told us or mgmt. that there was leak in the room! However it did get fixed and then we had a real a/c the rest of the time. There were always long lines and long waits for everything from the front desk to getting a soda. Overall, I'd say decent value; under staffed and needs updating but family friendly and safe. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great resort Just spent 4 nights at the Holiday Inn Montego Bay. Great accommodation with a very large suite I.e. lounge room and separate bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and our room had a balcony facing the ocean. Suggest you request buildings 6 or 7 as they are away from the noise from the main pool. Great adults only pool and beach. Food was very good and drinks were on supply all day and night. Free wi-fi and as we're are gold ambassador members had a very easy check in and well looked after.. Cab ride to resort from airport is $30.00. I would definitely recommend this resort to couples and families. April 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good value: better than last year 2nd trip to this property. The kids eat this place up. If it was just the wife and I , I think we would go elsewhere, but we still had a good time. If you are looking for white glove service, the best food, top shelf liquor and an extensive wine list, don't bother. If you are looking for good food (I could always find something good), plentiful drinks, and a casual atmosphere, this place is a steal. The closest thing to something unacceptable I saw while on property was a cat, and he was friendly and cute. No bugs, etc. The grounds and our room were clean, even though the property was 100% full. Check in was great as a platinum elite priority memeber. Kind of a pain to book if using points but we got it figured out. The concierge service was useful and the staff attentive. The staff as a whole seemd nicer than last year. We encountered one fairly grumpy bartender and that was only on one evening. The Jerk Hut staff were awesome. Karen Ann in the pool area bar was always sweet. we saw a lot of the same staff as a year ago which is nice. Some people complain about slow service: you're in Jamaica, slow down and enjoy a bit. The evening entertainment had more of a local flair last year compared to this year. We like some culture at night. Our only issues: the beds are a bit small and the room lighting and outlet accessibility is not the best. Please replace the elevators in building 3. I think they are done for. Other than that, we had a very nice time. You cannot beat the cost/value ratio anywhere else. April 8, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PERFECT FOR KIDS... This place is PERFECT for kids. I stayed at this property for 4 days with 3 kids, myself and husband. My 2 and 5 year old visit the kids club everyday and ENJOYED it, Ms Pauline was very caring and helpful. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was excellent they made sure everyone had something to choose from...I even gain a few pounds from eating right around the clock :(... My 11 year old was in heaven, he met lots of new friends and his most fun place to be was the pool and table tennis table. The grounds man and woman were so friendly, they never go by without greeting you. My 2yr old tossed my 5yr old shoe over the balcony and onto the roof top, i called the customer service desk and asked if they could get someone to remove the shoe and in 5 mins someone was knocking at my door with the shoe....THANK YOU... The night shows and activities was all I needed...didn't have to leave the property for entertainment eventhough I had a free pass to Magaritaville. From checking to check out I was threated with respect and appreciation. the only negative is, my bathroom door did not close all the way it was very old fashion and need some upgrading. THANKS TO ALL THE STAFF....LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR NEXT TRIP THERE. April 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend getaway We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay, Jamaica and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was our first all-inclusive resort visit anywhere. The bartenders were great (glasses were small but OK as you could drink as much as you wanted). The food in the buffet was good, your standard buffet food. However, Sea Breeze, Da Terrace and Sorrento's were awesome! The grounds were immaculate! The beach was raked daily. The mini golf course needs some work but was OK. As a Platinum member, I waited in the line with everyone else, like I usually do, and was then informed that I need to check in at the VIP (concierge# desk. Starting at that point, we felt like royalty. We had dinner reservations made for the 3 above stated restaurants #highly recommend these# along with other freebies. We didn't try to steak house #extra charge# but heard good comments from other guests. In the future, the one comment I have about this is to have the bellhops ask the guests as they arrive if they are priorty club members #gold, platinum, etc.# and direct them to the proper check in line. One side note that doesn't pertain to the Holiday Inn is the Easter weekend. On saturday afternoon, we found out that the hotel guided shopping trip doesn't run on sunday and the island is basically shut down on monday becasue that is the day they observe Easter. This eliminated our travels off the resort greatly. This might be some good info as the guests arrive and we are not accustomed to their way of life #and holidays). Don't take me wrong, it was still awesome to sit on the beach and do nothing for 5 days. The only other thing that Holiday Inn had no control over, was the wind. Every day the red flag was up due to high winds. Mid morning they would try to let people take out the kayaks but within an hour, they were shut down as people couldn't control them. I did get some snorkeling inside the roped bouys but would've enjoyed going on a snorkeling trip and seeing much more than I did. My wife and I have cruised before and enjoy those vacations, but an all-inclusive has it's benefits as well. It depends on what your looking for in a vacation. We'll do both in the future and will definitely come back to Holiday Inn SunSpree Montego Bay, Jamaica. April 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to vacation with kids We just spent 4 nights at this resort with two of our children, ages 11 & 12, and it was a great time! There was plenty of stuff for all of us to do. The resort had activities going on all the time. The beach was clean & had plenty of chairs. We weren't able to do a snorkeling tour due to the roughness of the ocean but we did snorkel around the island and were able to see some neat sea creatures. The staff was very accommodating to any request we had. I wasn't impressed with the food, the buffet was just ok. The food in the huts on the beach was pretty good though. The Japanese restaurant was good, it was worth the $20 pp to eat there. It was the only restaurant we were able to try because reservations have to be made at 7am the day before you want to eat, so when we got there Thursday early afternoon it was to late to get reservations for Thursday or Friday night. The bartenders were great and very nice but take a big mug or glass with you to use, the glasses they serve drinks in only hold about 6 ounces. The adult pool and bar was nice too and they stick to it being adult only. We would absolutely visit this resort with our kids again! April 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable and relaxing! My husband and I just returned home from our 6 night stay at the Sunspree Resort. We did not leave the resort. We spent day and night relaxing on the beach. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We were upgraded to a King Bedroom suite overlooking the beach. We are picky eaters so alot of the native foods were not of interest to us but there were plenty of other options on the buffet and the individual restaurants. We will be returning again in 2 years. Can't wait! April 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing Staff My wife and I have stayed here twice and just got back for the 3rd time and also took the kids this time. We LOVE it here and the kids did too as they cried when we had to leave. We have taken them lots of places with Jamaica and the Sunspree being thier most favorite place they have ever been. The staff and even the locals on the outside are extremely nice and the staff was amazing making sure everyone is having a great time and not inneed of anything. I even saw a staff member carrying a plate around the buffet at dinner for an elderly lady bc of it being so hot. It rained hard the last nite we were there and the staff didnt let the rain stop them from the evening show that is normally on the main stage, they brought all chairs and the show up front by the lobby and still made it amazing. With it being so packed out during that time and at dinner they had a hard time keeping up with plates being out and food not running out BUT for everything that was going on they done an excellent job. It would've been hard for any resort to have done what they done. We had an amazing time and will be back very soon. The kids said they dont care if this is the only place we ever go to they loved it so much. We were all sad to come home. Thanks again Holiday inn sunspree Staff, you guys are GREAT!!!! Yeah Mon!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel for a fair price My husband & I stayed here last year for our honeymoon. We went in May & there were hardly any kids. The staff, food & beach are amazing:) We loved it so much we went back for Christmas & took our 20, 16 & 8 year old. They had the time of there life. We did lots of excursions as the hotel would have bored them by the end of the week. Also there were LOTS of children in December... I cant understand why so many people would take little children birth through 5 but they all did. I love kids but my husband & kids were at times irritated by them. The kids zone is lame so if you have a child over 6 they probably will hate it. Also tips we learned the 1st time & used our 2nd. Book excursions when you get there instead of online as they are about $30 cheaper per person. Or to save even more hire a cab & pay direct, much cheaper but make sure you ask around for good cab drivers. If you cross the street from the hotel to shop...Be careful traffic is crazy, never go alone, go during the daytime only, they are very nice people but pushy. The only negative I will give the hotel is that the mattresses are cheap & broken down. Even my kids were saying there back hurt after a couple of days. We requested better ones & recieved cheap ones that were not broken down. Well hope this helps you out! March 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 9th Time Here And Coming Back Next Year This was our 9th time at this resort and as usual had a great time. Over the years we have been in most room categories and in buildings 1, 6 &7. The standard rooms are smaller than newer resort hotels however it is typical HI layout. In fact the Hi in our town has the same room layout. The Jr. Suites and suites are bigger if that is where you want to spend your time. I’d rather be on the beach! For a resort hotel the food is fantastic. We have stayed at high end resorts in the Caribbean including Sandals and this ranks up there. All the a la carte restaurants are very good. The new Japanese is well worth the $20 sur charge and our favorite. The beach is nice however broken up so lots of different areas to sit. Most of our time was spent on the beach in front of building 7. And yes close to the adult pool bar. Over all the drinks including the beer are very good here. I heard a few people complaining that they do not have to shelf booze but most resorts don’t. As a note they do have Appleton rum and I would consider this to be top shelf. I never had anything I could not drink! The staff is very friendly and do a great job. Thanks to all of you that made our vacation special. Lots to do, or do nothing. Snorkeling, peddle boats and sea kayaks are free. You can also go diving, glass bottom boat tours and parasailing here for a fee. Most days we snorkeled and saw lots of fish near all the docks and rocks. 4 star resort at a 3 star price. March 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for families We had a wonderful time. The hotel was clean, and welcoming. LOVED the openness of the lobby. The staff was friendly, inviting, and very helpful. The food was great! Be sure to try all the restaurants on the property, you won't be disappointed. This was a great place to take the kids; there are so many activities to keep them occupied and from becoming bored. Highly recommend! March 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Simply average, older resort My family & I just refurned from staying at the Holiday Inn-SunSpree. It's a good, not great, value. The resort is very old & outdated. The rooms are clean but the beds were small and hard. The engineer had to be called to get the AC unit working who also worked on the hall light but it never worked the entire week. There is no bathroom door...only two shutter doors. I got a sense that the SunSpree "repairs" vs. "maintains" the facility as did other guests I spoke to. The food is typical all-inclusive quality food. Some of it is good and some not so much. There were long lines at the different bars for drinks & food. Staff up! The Japanese restaurant, service & food, was awesome! The hotel staff were very friendly. I was told the scuba diving facility was a 5-star facility. Do not be fooled! It is a 3-star at best. The staff was late for the dive, the credit card machine didn't work which caused further delay and they were extremely unorganized. We had to stop multiple times to pick up other divers from various locations and even had to stop for gas! Our 8:30am dive didn't start until 10am or later. After the first two-tank dive I was done. I was not impressed at all with the actual diving either. All & all, the SunSpree was ok. There were many areas that needed to be improved. We will return to Montego Bay, Jamaica but will probably look for other places to stay that are better run, nicer, newer and a better value. March 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Peaceful and relaxing or entertaining and lively... This is a regular destination for me. Great for the whole family or a quiet, adult getaway. Everything you need and more for one price. Just relax and enjoy! March 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed, great service and entertainment The rooms were well kept. The beds were comfortable. I food was very tasty and the nightly entertainment was fantastic. I enjoyed the native drumming and dancing mostly. March 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great value We had wonderful time, food was great, drinks were plentiful. The room was clean and comfortable, lets face it, we didn't go to Jamaica to stay in room all day. The drink service was readily available, alcoholic drinks were tasty. Only negative thing was the large amount of rude guests. This is true anywhere you travel because most people have a sense of entitlement when vacationing. I found the resort staff to be helpful and entertaining. Lobby bar staff, Dean and Chadisha were a blast to hang out with. I find if you treat the workers like human beings and take an interest in their lives your vacation experience will be much better. We sometimes forget how good our lives are, living in Jamaica is tough, just ask someone who lives there next time you're vacationing there. March 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall great experience We found the experience at Holiday Inn Sunspree to be wonderful. The resort being right close to the beach was so nice. Food and activities for all ages and levels. Being able to snorkel right around the beautiful island was super. The promptness and efficiency of the staff was second to none. Very helpful. Non smoking areas big plus!!!! Cleanliness ++++Always someone to pick up dishes. Staff well groomed and very respectful. We will definitely recommend and likely return March 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value vacation at Holiday Inn MBJ The Holiday Inn Montego Bay is a great value offering all inclusive meals and beverages along with a few activities. Our favorite amenity is the adult pool and adult beach on the far side of the resort...very peaceful with no children. The best restaurant is the Italian one followed by the seafood restaurant. The Jamaican restaurant needs some work on the menu and the service. The buffet is adequate although not luxurious. The fruit carvings and display off food is good, however many dishes are offered several days in a row. I would prefer more variety on the menu. Seriously, I don't want to eat rice and beans with fish for breakfast every day. The omlettes are wonderful and each is individually prepared to your order. The only major pet peeve I have is that the nightly entertainment by the pool is too loud and lasts too long into the night...1 a.m. They could end it at 10 or 11 p.m. and move the party to one of the banquet rooms inside so that those in buildings 1 and 2 could sleep at night. This is still a great bargain for anyone to vacation in Jamaica. I've been here 3 times. March 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home away from home We recently spent 2 weeks at Holiday Inn Sunspree, Montego Bay, Jamaica. The staff bends over backwards to please. The food was excellent and plentiful. The room, with views of the ocean, was confortable. We can't wait to return. March 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bed not comforable and staff was average The bed was not very comfortable, this seems to be a Holiday Inn issue. We are use to very friendly Jamaican staff, so being fair to average was a dissapointment. March 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Feedback Great location and wonderful people, had a great time. Would definitely go again. March 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful location and great service My husband & I just returned home from a great vacation at this resort. We had a wonderful time! The service was very good. The food at both the buffet and the restaurants was excellent and the presentation was exceptional . We were especially impressed with the nightly entertainment as it was very good. The beach was large enough that it never felt crowded and the island added to the beauty of the ocean view. We both had a massage at the spa and they were fantastic! We took an excursion to the Dunns RIver Falls and it was an exciting adventure which I recommend to everyone! There are several trips available and can be booked in the lobby. We also had fun in the casino. We can't wait to come back ... the entire week was fantastic !! March 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by three time visitor We have visited this hotel for the past three years and had a wonderful experience each time. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. We were especially impressed with Paul who makes the omlets in the morning. The beach runs the entire length of the resort and in combination with the island beach, contributes to the atmosphere of an uncrowded relaxing vacation spot. The only real complaint we had is that if you wait until too late in the morning to shower, the hot water is lukewarm at best. It would be nice if the putt-putt golf course had more features but that is hardly a major deficit. February 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than ever My husband and I really enjoyed our recent stay at Holiday Inn Montego Bay. We have been there in the past with our childen, our granddaughter and on our own. Each time was a great vacation for all of us. All the employee were friendly and effecient, working hard to serve with a smile. With the size of the property, variety of activies, and choices of restaurants, bars, and even pools, it is easy for each guest to make the vacation just right for them. We look forward to returning next year. February 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Private Island the best amenity We looked for a promising value among the competitive all-inclssive market choices for our selection this winter season. Having visited Jamaica, Negril 20+ years ago and visited all the excursions previously, felt Montego Bay would be a nice spot to just stay put and relax. The allure of the resort's beach island was the reason for our selection as we had never seen such a feature from all-inclussive choices before. We cautiously were prepared for the condition of the resort in reading prior guest reviews and I have to say those reviews align with ours. The resort needs some attention and modernization for a world wide chain such as Holiday Inn, The guest experience upon arrival is a 2.5 out of 5 and the farther we went, the condition of the resort keeps that rating fairly accurate throughout. The ocean view rooms are a plus and would strongly suggest over any other choice. The resort has a great beach setting the entire length of the property which makes the less impressive design aesthetic and conditions more palatable. Only the Italian restaurant is of good quality, the buffet and other Jamaican restaurant is fair to poor. The Asian option is additional which we did not sample. The other restaurant on the beach has been closed for some time with very little accommodations for guests to experience. Very family (kid) friendly, but not too uncontrolled behavior taking away from the adult guests. Recommendation: Been here, done that - not for the picky traveler. February 2, 2013
