Great location - steps away from McGill University, shopping and entertainment. Have made this a regular stay on visits to Montreal.

Did not get the room I reserved a long time ahead. Bed and pillows were not comfortable. I had to call room service to get towels. Long waiting time for parking valet service. I noticed that my car was scratched (on bumper). Being a regular customer at HI, I was very disappointed with this particular stay.

The hotel insofar as the room and amenities was fine. It was clean and staff were pleasant and friendly. It did take 15 minutes or so to check in as there were only 2 front desk staff members working and neither of them were particularly quick. We initially were given keys to a room that was not available so we had to go back down and get a new room. No big deal. The parking was the biggest disappointment. We learned at the front desk that parking in the Holiday Inn garage was an extra $26.00 dollars a night. That hidden cost made the overall price of the stay more than we wanted to spend. The Valet drivers were quick however very irresponsible in the driving of the vehicles. As we waited for our vehicle to arrive we heard multiples tires screech and saw a driver gun it through a narrow lane. We made sure to inspect our car before driving off. No damages but we were still annoyed. Overall, $181 seemed steep for this experience even in the heart of Montreal.

the stuff in this hotel were very rude to me as after we checked out from our room i lost my husband and he had my purse and i had only 4 $ (and my 2 kids)that was not enough to make a phone call so i went to the hotel and asked them if i can make a phone call the answered me that i can not do it and if i want to make a phone call i have to use the pay phone i told the man there i have no money to call my husband then he answered me with a cold blood and no sympathy at all that he can not help me . I STAYED IN THIS HOTEL FOR 2 NIGHT (2 SEPARAT RESERVSTIONS)AND WHEN I ASKED FOR HELP THEY TREATED ME AS A THEIF I HATE THIS HOTEL

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by George416 Excellent Value and Location
Excellent value for the money, great down-town location, fantastic staff, great hotel overall, and very comfortable room. We regularly travel to Montreal and only stay at this hotel, especially during the summer festivals: Jazz; Just for Laughs; Fireworks; etc. Last visit, we flew and did not drive. We also received a beautiful glass framed piece of art. It was too big for carry on and fragile. The concierge made it their mission to ensure we got this thing home safely by literally wrapping it in hotel towels, duct tape, and carboard - they had no bubble wrap and we did not know where to even try to find the stuff given that our plane was takling off the next morning. It and we arrived safely at home. Every time I look at the artwork, I am reminded of this hotel staff and the kindness and care they showed me and our family. Highly recommend the Holiday Inn Montreal Midtown.

This was my first visit to Montreal and we planned on going to the Jazz club around the corner. From there we went club hopping and I went back to the room at around 2:00 in the morning alone. My room card didn't work so I went to the front desk and they told me his VISA card had insufficient funds. I told them that was impossible, I knew how much was in the account- first clue. They would allow me back in the room to get my bag and I was forced to rent another room. When my friend came back at 3:00 am he came to the 2nd room and he needed his wallet -the hotel staff were threatening to call the police. I had it in my purse. We both ended up downstairs again at the front desk. I tried to pay with my VISA debit and they said I had insuffiicient funds -second clue. I managed to put the bar and roomservice tab on my Visa and pay through another debit account -we had ordered a bottle of dom perignon before we went out so our tab was over $500.00. They allowed us back into the first room. I couldn't sleep trying to figure out why our cards wouldn't work. Then it dawned on me that they were running our VISA debit cards like VISA cards. When we left the next day the front desk -new staff- said the staff member who booked the reservation made the mistake. That doesn't excuse the staff from the previous night because the cards specifically say debit right under the VISA logo. We spent a small fortune at the hotel and were treated like criminals. Worst night of my life started when I went back to the comfort of our hotel.......thanks for ruining my Montreal experience! I don't often get the chance to travel but my job is booking flights and hotels for others.
