Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TommyP Comfortable hotel in heart of Montreal
The usual place for my frequent stays in Montreal. The staff are very pleasant and the bar staff are exceptional. The rooms are very comfortable and well maintained. The food in the restaurant isn't the best but ok, but the bar atmosphere and service is great.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Marcus64 Not the room reserved, bad breakfast
Staff didnot tell me that i don't have the corner room reserved, even if I asked him. To my question the anser was : yes, a nice freshely renovated room.
He handed me an enveloppe with papers telling me that inside i would find vauchers for breakfast. The were not in the envelope.
The room was nice anyway but looked like and ofd one. Not the corner one.
People at breakfast the first morning were rude when they saw our vaucher. Bad free food. Don't give it when it's so cheap.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LawrenceG One of many stays for convenience
This hotel is very nice and well-situated. The room are clean and relatively comfortable. Sound-proofing is a major issue here (between rooms and with noisy toilets above and beside your room). Also, outdoor noise can be problematic - being in the downtown core.
Staff are always lovely and helpful, but are sometimes unavailable. The restaurant is decent but the service can be slow at times. The TV reception is often poor quality. Overall, updates are needed, i.e. soundproofing between rooms, but it is a decent place to stay.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hilali Well below expectations
Very disappointed really. The service was so poor on all fronts. The resturant need to improve dramatically not just in term of the food but also the service and the torn seats. Had to wait 20 mins to check out! ...never again

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Curves54 Room was not the cleanest - quite dusty.
Room was not very clean. Cleaning liquid left in bathroom sink. The lamps, coffee table and coffee maker were very dusty, as well as window ledges.
The black desk chair was broken, as well as the floor lamp by the window.
It seems that no one bothered to check the room before issuing it out. Impression that it was not used for a while.
For a well known hotel downtown, and for the price paid, expected rooms to be better.
At least the bed sheets, pillows were clean. Bed was comfortable.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by filou Ok hotel
Ok hotel, very clean, well situated, but a little expensive. lack of curtains in the room. On site service very good, but online customer care so bad! they found every reason possible to avoid respecting their lower price guarantee and couldn't provide answers in french to my questions. They even mentionned fake Terms and Conditions! Wouldn't recommand online reservation to anyone...

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by klozano Great stay except for thin walls
I was initially hesitant to book this hotel because of conflicting reports between Trip Advisor & Yelp. One had glowing reviews and other was less-than-glowing.
I stayed at Holiday Inn Midtown for a four-day business conference. The staff was EXCELLENT! From beginning to end they were very attentive. The room was clean and well-kept. The main detriment to the hotel was how thin the walls are. I could hear my neighbors and vice versa. I was also awoken by a raucous party of revelers at 2:00 who did NOT know how to use their inside voices in the hall outside my room.
But, overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Spankster Server in restaurant
I was a recent guest at your hotel with my husband. My main reason to complete your review is to comment on the excellent care we received from Gigi, one of your servers in the restaurant. We had breakfast 3 mornings at your hotel and were fortunate enough each time to have her take care of our order. She was courteous, caring, obviously enjoyed her job and had a good sense of humor. If you have an employee recognition program of any sort, I highly recommend her to be duly recognized for the excellent job she does for your company.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Laura917 Would not recommend
This is my second stay at the Holiday Inn Montreal Midtown. The first time (2 weeks ago), I was given an updated room (as per standard with my gold ambassador account), so it was easier to overlook the extremely slow internet and the fact that my wakeup call never came when it was promised (thank God I set a back up alarm!)
This time, I was given an extremely old and outdated room (2 double beds, the only nonsmoking room they had) - the only outlet plugs that worked were in the bathroom, or if I unplugged the tv to use that. the internet is so slow I am not getting emails or able to access websites, and when I asked management about it, their response was "well, there are 500 rooms. when there are a lot of people using the internet, it slows down." um, seriously?
As someone that travels almost exclusively for business, internet connectivity (and accessible power charging) is extremely important.
I will not be staying at the Holiday Inn Montreal Midtown again.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by jlava29 smoke rooms
The hotel room smelled of stale cigarette smoke.
The towels, bed sheets and pillows smelled of cigarette smoke.
The carpet was old and did not look clean.
The shower fixtures were very old and did not fully work, the tile grout was falling apart.
There was no fridge in the room.
At check in we were not allowed to check in at 1pm we had to return at 3pm.
They kept changing the names on the rooms, my bill was not in my name, but my credit card was correctly billed. I attempted to call the hotel to have the bill changed and was quickly forward to accounting were no one answered and did not call me back.
The bar, and restaurant staff were excellent as well as the concierge.

We really enjoyed our stay here, except the "club lounge" was really not up to par with the "club lounges" at other IH properties.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sheryl1 Wonderful time!
The room that we were originally given was not the room that we reserved, so we were moved to the room type we reserved (it was more spacious and came with a sofa sleeper, microwave, refrigerator, and nice view). All of the staff were very pleasant and very accomodating. The location of the hotel was ideal for us, as we walked to the Montreal Alouettes football game at Molson stadium. We plan on staying at this hotel again next year for another Montreal Alouettes game!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by spk2 Platinum status
Platinum status members should get complimentary breakfast irrespective of the rate they pay. I paid a McGill University rate but did not get breakfast. For the regular rate that was $10 more, I would get breakfast. So effectively, there was no McGill University rate.
Also the worst executive lounge ever seen in any Holiday Inn. Please beef it up. Have a happy hour, make it fun.
Hotel has aged, room and bathrooms have aged

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by HiTechGuy Needs improvement
I don't have complaints as such, but this hotel needs serious renovations and the rooms are tight.
Also, the food at the Ace Restaurant and Bar can be better.
The location is attractive as it is very close to downtown but it is still pricey for what it offers.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 2Bengals Check for towels when you get into your room
Recently stayed at this hotel and luckily checked for towels before jumping in the shower as there where none. Although the front desk took care of the matter, one would think that the maids would make sure towels would be present after cleaning-up the room from the previous occupant.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sandpiper565 Comfortable rooms with friendly service at a reasonable price.
We chose this hotel because it was next to the university that our daughter was going to attend and it was pet friendly. Although the parking was expensive, it was very convenient, secure and comes with valet attendants. Our room was large for the price and the room service was extremely fast and restaurant quality. But best of all, we and our small dog felt welcome and at ease in the room, the elevators and the lobby.

Towels have to ordered as they were not ALL replaced during clean up. Replenishment of coffee etc have to be requested too.
Valet parking staff are rude once after they have been tipped ($10 for 2 nights parking) . They started showing their real faces.
Other staff are helpful.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kath88 Great location
Great location- very central to downtown, shopping, McGill and other tourist sites. Valet parking was very slow on a few occasions- you cannot park your own car. Frustrating. But they do have in and out privileges which is great. Disappointed the rooms did not have a fridge in them. Nowhere to keep water or food. Breakfasts were very good and reasonably priced. Pool a little cold. Free wifi was very handy. Great service. Nice hotel overall.
