Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed We were here with 4 other couples. Our room smelled really bad of cigarette smoke. When I let the front desk know they said it was because it was near the stairwell. However, the hallway did not smell. We had to go buy Febreze to help it because it was so bad. I felt they really did not care and just made excuses. We left our room around 7:00 AM on Saturday and we returned around 6:00 that evening we found our door was not closed. Our room was cleaned and as far as I could tell nothing was missing. I let the front desk know and they said they would tell the head of the cleaning staff. Again I felt they really did not care. Just not impressed with the front desk staff. The manager was even there when I reported it and he did not speak up at all. On a good note, the blonde headed girl working the bar area was really nice and did a great job waiting on the 10 of us. August 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service, excellent care, a must stay This hotel was excellent. We learned it is run by a new manager, Mr. Yue, who is very welcoming and hospitable. We ran into him in the hall on several occasions. He was greeting guests, asking about our stay and travels, making sure we were comfortable. The staff was friendly too. The hotel was clean and safe. We were surprised at the personal attention the manager provided, as we have seldom gotten this type of attention in 4 and 5-star hotels. You were made to feel like a valued guest in someone's home. It was a happy environment, with all the employees so friendly, and you felt like part of it. Beds and pillows were so comfortable. Halls were quiet. Will definitely come here again. August 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent at check in, downhill from there. I found that when entering the hotel the staff was more than helpful. Once you got past the day help, the help in the evening didn't seem to know what they were doing. I found it strange that they did not clean the room everyday. They never even entered the room on our last 2 days there. August 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and Comfortable This was my first time staying at a Holiday Inn in many years and over all I was impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel lobby, guest rooms and common areas. I was in Morgantown, Pa for two nights attending a local car show and my stay at HI was accommodating. Since I did not eat in the restaurant I cannot comment on the food quality and service there. However, my experience in the lounge/bar was a different matter. I found the lounge staff rude, inattentive, lazy and unprofessional. The bartender in particular was rude and inattentive while making negative comments about her fellow workers to the customers which I found very unprofessional. The alcoholic beverage prices were outrageous for a local hotel lounge/bar and more in line with a NY area airport, ridiculous to say the least. I will definitely return to the Morgantown HI as my overall experience was a pleasant one. August 21, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible visit! Traveling from Texas to Philadelphia. Stopped at several Holiday Inns and this was the worst. Beds so bad that you fell off the side. Room did not smell clean. Staff were not helpful. Too busy talking amongst themselves. Will never stay here again. August 20, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Only hotel in area. Not the best HI nor the worst. It is the ONLY hotel closest to an event that I was attending in Maple Grove. The special rate made the stay more enjoyable, but if I had to pay more, it would not be worth it. The hotel is an older property and has the smallest bathroom in a hotel that I have ever seen. The rooms are huge (as older hotels tend to have), and the furniture was OK. The bed was very comfortable, the AC worked fine as well. Surprised that the hotel did not offer a complimentary breakfast or even complimentary coffee. Guess I am spoiled by all the other hotels that I stay at. The indoor pool is in the lobby area which is a bit unusual so you have to deal with the noise of kids and then wet elevators. As this hotel is the ONLY hotel in the immediate area, the next closest area is in Reading, PA it still served us well. One BIG thing is that there is a limited amount of dining options in Morgantown. No chains except McDonalds and Pizza Hut the rest are all Mom August 20, 2014
