Good hotel for a short business trip, with relatively close to the city centre. Underground is just right across the street.
Gym is at the location as well.

Gutes Business Hotel:

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Christie27 comfortable bed and nice bathroom
This hotel is highly recommended. The room is spacious and the bed is super comfortable with nice sheets. The shower is wonderful -- love the shampoo/shower gel on the wall. This hotel is very comfortable. I would go to another Holiday Inn on my next travel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jlrojasd Great!
Stayed there 3 nights while on holidays in Moscow.
The hotel is well located - next to a Metro station which is about 20-30mins from central Moscow. Across the street there's where to exchange money and a supermarket (also a McDonalds for the ones interested). Also very near to Sokolniki park which is worth a visit on a weekend.
The building is big, modern, clean and has a quiet atmosphere. Staff is very kind and helpful.
I'd definitely return and also recommend it to others.

Sehr angenehmes Hotel!
Ansonsten muss man warten!

This was the only hotel in the Holiday Inn world where the internet worked. worked well for the last 3 years.
They have now started to try and get more money here and the service is now a mess, either access or the Platinum prommise!

This was my second stay at Holiday Inn Sokolniki. First in Oct'13 and now in Mar 14. The stay was nice all in all. However, the spread of choices for breakfast have reduced. The house keeping services has deteriorated from Oct 13. My booking included complimentary drinking water, but i never used to get them unless requested thrice over phone. To top it the cost was added to my bill initially and later waived off on discussion. The smoking rooms on 11th floor has poor ventilation with no windows. The gate of balcony was not opened for first three days, on request to change the room doors were finally opened. If you could do it three days later, why didn't you do it on first request? why do you want guests to waste time calling you all the time for water, ventilation, towels? The rooms are quite and comfortable. Location of the hotel is the USP.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lozzie Great hotel
The hotel is right across the road from the metro station and very easy to get to. On arrival, the check in process was quick and the staff were very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was varied and the eating area clean and spacious.
The hotel was 6 metro stops away from Red Square with trains running every 1-3 minutes, the metro is an excellent service.
There is a 24 hour supermarket across the road which we found very helpful as we were often returning to the hotel late at night.
The only issue we had was the WiFi which was offered free but due to a very poor signal was not available for the whole of our stay; the hotel is aware of this problem and are trying to rectify it.
I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone enjoying a trip to Moscow.

we stayed for 3 nights and would recommend this hotel to anyone; the staff were pleasant and helpful from the start, the room was spotless, spacious and comfortable, and its location is such that all the major sights can be reached directly from the metro station opposite in minutes. Super.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MartinMUK Another great stay
As usual the team at Holiday Inn Sokolniki made me feel relaxed and welcome.
I haven't had a bad stay here yet - rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfasts are ok, and the food in the bar/grill is great; the Club Sandwich still needs some love though ;)
Good location for access to the city centre, and has plenty available nearby for food, shops, and fresh air.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by YossiDA Fitness Club
I am visiting Moscow at least once a month and in most of the cases stys in the Holiday Inn Sokolniki.
Unfortunately I would like to express the displeasure that I faced in the inability to train in the hotel fitness club. I tried to reach the club at 20:00 after a day of work and I was introduced by a paper indicating that the maximum quantity (of hotel gusts) to enter the club is 7. First, I was shocked. No notes or any other publication stating that there is a limitation to hotel members, on the contrary the “Orange Health & Fitness club” ad on the TV states very clear “…. All guests have free use of the gym. Executive level guests have ….”, so!!! The important information that there is a maximum number of guests that can enter the club is missing.
It is so disappointing.
This kind of behavior is alien to me. I felt like a class Z guest (although I am treated as a class A guest in other areas or by other staff of the hotel). Staying in front of the club front desk and seeing all the other people (probably members of the club) entering w/o any restriction is humiliating. In addition, not being able to communicate with the club lady (not knowing English well and everybody is looking on you, like what are you doing here!!! Is not an experience that I would recommend.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MartinMUK Just blew the Hilton away
I decided to stay at the HI Sokolniki partly to get my points ;) and partly because I wanted to see what I could get for the same rate as our corporate rate does at the Hilton.
Much better value for money, much better service.
Upon arrival at the desk I was welcomed and greeted as an IHG rewards member. I was upgraded to a suite, which as a Plat member is always nice, but even the room I had booked would have been bigger than the Hilton's for the money!
The bar is spacious and comfortable, and the staff there spoke very good English - especially compared to my basic broken Russian. The quality of the food at the bar menu is good - although the club sandwich could use some love.
I used the main restaurant most days for breakfast - rather than the executive level option - as the food was just as good, and when you are mostly staying on business just getting a good breakfast is more important than the ambience.
Overall this hotel is clean, friendly and great for local amenities. I could list the ease of access to the city centre, the nearby park, the amount of places to go for a coffee or a meal nearby... but rather I would just say that this is a great hotel for any visit to Moscow!
I'll be staying here again. (already have 2 more stays booked!)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Meophamtravellers Friendly and helpful staff
we had a great time in Moscow, all staff at the hotel where very friendly and helpful, especially reception staff, Sofia and Ivan, rooms were very comfortable and clean, restaurants were lovely, plenty of food choices, especially breakfast, the location of the hotel was also great, just across the road from the metro, 6 stops and you are in red square, kremlin, in fact all major tourist sites. Try and give yourself half a day going on metro as some of the stations have fantastic architecture and paintings, beats the circle line in London. We would definetly go back to the holiday inn, where every member of staff from cleaners to waiting staff where happy to exchange hello's and good morning.
No negatives at all for hotel, staff, location. We are world travelers, travelling extensively so have stayed in many many hotels.
P.S taxi to hotel cost £50.00 - We took the Aeroexpress train back to airport much more fun - have a lovely trip to Moscow

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Estskipper Comfortable bed and great service
I was on a business trip and the agency booked the hotel for me.It was a pleasant surprise. Though not central, the subway is right in front of the hotel and whisks you in no time to the historical center. The hotel serves late meals and drinks in their bar area. The rooms are clean and silent and you can regulate temperature freely. The bed is very comfortable. There are few amenities in the room but staff will send what is needed on request. The breakfast is great; I enjoyed the various International corners. Some inconveniences: the electrical sockets in the room are inadequately located; the minibar automatically charges when you touch anything (staff will however annull the charges).
I recommend the hotel for a comfortable stay in Moscow.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ugivm Nice rooms, poor service
The hotel itself is nice, but don't expect much service. You have to hunt down waiter at the restaurants if you want to get anything. Your order will be messed up and they will forget some items on your order. It applies to all restaurants in the hotel.
Do not order cab from the hotel lobby. They quoted me 3900 rub. to go to the airport. It was only 1100 rub (1500 if I wanted a luxury car) when I called the cab company directly.

Very good hotel and comfortable positioning, near metro " Sokolniki", You can reach very fast any place in Moscow .
The hotel's rooms are in good conditions, the beds are very comfortable, the room is very suitable for sleep and rest. The staff personal is very responsive and available 24 hours for your needs.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bofferding Just what I expected. Nothing more.
Really enjoyed my stay here hence the 4 star review, but this hotel fails to excite or go the extra mile to impress.
The location is very good. I was a 'sightseer' and found the metro right across the road really handy as its the red line all the way to red square!! What more could you want (The Moscow Metro is a nightmare though but that's not holiday inns fault). Also there is a supermarket, Starbucks, McDonalds and Japanese restaurant at the door of this hotel so you don't feel in the middle of nowhere.
The hotel is very clean and very comfy. Room was cleaned every day during my 3 day stay to very high standard. Room was comfy and quiet.
Not sure if hotel had concierge but if they do I wish they would stand at their desk as it was always empty. In a city like Moscow a friendly concierge could make the difference. Also the revolving doors at front were not working. Just a minor point but was a bit annoying.
I am a IHG member and don't think hotel made any effort to acknowledge this. Don't want the to kiss my bum but sometimes acknowledgment is nice.
Breakfast was not included in rate but I paid (overpaid) for it. Very poor for over £23 a person. I had it twice and both times waited 10 minutes (over 10 minutes actually) for the worlds slowest egg cooker to fry me an egg... Felt like going behind the counter and cooking it myself! I got the impression that he thought ' you bother me for an egg I'll make you wait' . Toaster was rubbish too... Just ate bread roles instead. I tried to pay cash for breakfast and was told they had no change and I was to go to reception, the reception told me they had no change and to go to bank. Just not good enough really but sums up hotel service.
Overall I would recommend this hotel, but don't expect an amazing experience, just a decent safe and comfy place to stay.

Entered the bar around 23:00 with my colleague and ordered food from the bar menu. After 1h 15min I questioned where the food was, they forgot the order. After additional 30min we received the food,
but now they inserted a room service fee to the bill. After som intensive discussions with the "Night Manager" he said that the
Pasta we had would be for free. Upon check-out two nights later
the food was still on my Hotel bill. I paid the bill as is and came to
the conclusion that I will return to the Hotel If I dont have an option but I will definately not dine there. Unfortunately the swimming pool was also out order during our stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pammyd Good location, comfortable room
Stayed here for the World Athletics Championships, not close to the stadium but the Metro is just across the road on the direct line. This line takes you into the centre for Red Square & the Kremlin within 15 minutes. Hotel is huge, has 25 floors, got very busy at breakfast time, staff were a bit slow clearing the tables except for the last day when they tried to whip the dishes from under our noses. Ate in the grill on the 2nd floor the first night, service very slow and the portions weren't big. Good choice at breakfast though. Nice swimming pool in the basement, they provided towels.
Had some irritation with one day being unable to get into my safe, the next day my card key didn't work, then the mini bar relocked itself; then the last day I went back to shower & finish packing & got locked out the room again. A pain when on the 10th floor. Also had a problem with the shower fitment being broken & it flooded the bathroom!

1. My room was upgraded to smoking room and I prefer non smoking, than I asked about non smoking executive room, receptionist told me that they don't have one. So I choose standert room, but non smoking. Btw I reserved a room 3 weeks in advance.
2. While it was a rain I'm Moscow, there were no umbrellas to borrow. Staff was indifferent to my problem.
3. I didn't feel myself like PC platinum member in this hotel.
