Older hotel but updated. Breakfast included a surprise but could be better.

Wait staff in dining are was rude and unfriendly. I had a priority club coupon to order breakfast off the menu, the waitress didn't wait on us we were unable to order from the menu. The eggs and ham from the buffet was cold, did not eat them! waitress did not stop by our table once to see if we needed anything. She was unsmiling and had a scowl on her face..She not someone I would want representing my business!!!

Always appreciate our stay in Mt. Vernon. Our family lives there and we travel home 1-2 times per year to see everyone. Holiday Inn always makes our stay better!

The staff went out of their way to assist when we had a sick child in our group and they moved our grandchildren & family to another room. The staff always wore a smile and wanted to ensure your stay was comfortable. The pool area was very clean and maintained. Nice drive to Carbondale for graduation. We will continue to stay in Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express for our "homes away from home".

I was moving to Fort Riley and I made a stop at this Holiday Inn. The room I was in was on the 1st floor and the room window wouldn't close and was open as I entered the room. I alerted the staff but really didn't feel it was much of a concern to them. The room was kind of dated along was the bathroom, honestly the Pool area was the most enjoyable area to me and made up for the other areas. Other than that it was an ok stay!

The biggest problem I have with hotel is there is no lobby coffee in the morning until the full service restaurant opens. All others that I have stayed in have morning coffee approx 4:30a.m.

Pros - good people with good attitudes., very nice indoor pool & spa area, easy access from I-57, lots of reasonable restaurant options near by.
Cons - very poor wifi in our room, reasonable signal only by going down to lobby area. Breakfast included very spartan choices. While clean the property is definately showing it's age. For example a/c very noisy.
