The pool was fun and relaxing. The restaurant was ok. My room was very clean and the housekeeping staff did a professional job. My only problem was that the housekeeping staff said I had 3 dogs in my room and charged me a pet fee. I had to go to the front desk to get the charges removed. The clerk had to have my room checked. How insulting. But they removed the charges.

For approximately three years, the interstate highways 64 and 57, which run together for a short distance at Mt. Vernon have been under construction. Delays are a given, frustration is ongoing. If you can find your way off of the highway at Exit 95, you will find a quiet, friendly place to stay. The staff is accommodating, the restaurant is good, and breakfast is both hot and filling. Though you cannot ignore the highway problems, this Holiday Inn is at least a great spot for a respite. I recommend it with no hesitation.

After driving a long way, Mt Vernon was the half-way point. The location is close to restaurants and Walmart for any needed essentials. The reception staff were pleasant and efficient. I wish there was more than 1 Handicap parking space closer to the front door.

being a platinum member, I am used to being well taken care of at HI. not the case at this location. was not greeted as a platinum member, no water, no friendliness that i usually get. check in not friendly at all.

I travel more than 150 nights per year and I have a routine that I do not deviate from regarding the safety of my belongings. I make sure that my bathroom supplies are returned to the bag that I brought them in and stored in my zipped suitcase. I was in this particular Holiday Inn for two nights and when I took my bathroom supplies out of my suitcase the second evening, someone had opened the bag, emptied the contents into my suitcase and I'm sure looked for valuables or perscription medicines. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk all I was told was that they would look into it.
I will be staying at another property in Mount Vernon on my next visit!

Although informed of the hours for pool, bar, and restaurant they were unable to contain and control a large party that went beyond the stated hours and when called to address they said there was nothing they could do
If a party was planned we could have used outer rooms vs atrium rooms but we were not offered alternatives

My husband and I used our reward points for a night's stay here. A No Smoking room was requested. The first room we were given smelled heavily of cigarette smoke that someone tried to hide with a
lot of air freshener. I immediately called the front desk and the lady said she would be up in a few minutes. We waited in the hall for 20 plus minutes so as not to trigger an asthma attack.
While waiting in the hall, we heard all kinds of "foul language" from the maids. One was even on the phone telling someone that she would be showing up later in her "pasties". We could hear everything plain as day. Working in customer service, we were totally shocked ! They were arguing over who was going to finish what rooms and how soon before they could each leave for the day.
After waiting 20 plus minutes, I finally went downstairs and she said "she had other things to do" but did find us a different room.
The second room was much better!
The pool area was really nice! The water temp was comfortable for swimming. There were lots of towels!!
Breakfast in the morning was really good! Hot was hot and cold was cold !They were very prompt on removing our empty plates. The only downside was the music was playing too loud and we couldn't hear the news on the TV.
Overall, the motel was clean but definitely showing signs of wear.. We were offered a bottle of ice cold water at check in for being a rewards member.
We are on the fence about this motel...

We stopped in this hotel to break up a long drive. Checkin was quick and easy. Getting into the room, not so much. Went to room and key wouldn't work. Went down to lobby and clerk told me they should work so sent me back up. Still didn't work. Went back down, security was called to let me in. (Probably should have been the first time.) Got into the room and there was a strong chemical smell permeating the room. Security brought me a new set of keys and I asked if the smell was consistent through all of the rooms. He reluctantly said yes. The free breakfast was mediocre. Could tell it was an older hotel that was updated. Outside of the issues I mention, the short stay we had was fine.

The hotel just seemed very outdated. Room had an odd odor like it used to be a smoking room. Just not the quality I have seen in every other Holiday Inn I have stayed in. Not that is was bad, just not the same quality. I would stay here again but will ask for a different hotel chain in this town.

We were not really happy with our stay. The main thing is the walls are like they are made of paper. On one side of our room we had a baby that wouldn't quit crying and the the other side we had a man that when he blew his nose I could actually hear it. My husband heard his cell phone ring at 11::30 and you could hear his conversation as though he was in the same room. First time that has ever happened to us at a motel.

We stayed in a pet friendly room, because our dog was with us. Everything was great, except the over abundance of air freshener. Really made me wonder what odors they were trying to hide. I knew that my allergies were gonna drive me nuts it was so strong. Sure enough, I've spent the rest of this week fighting off a cold.
It really looked clean, everyone was great. Krieger's bar and grill was great. The little pregnant bartender was awesome!!
So, except for the air freshener, everything was perfect.

your desk clerk darlena was extremely rude acted as if it was a bother to handle my accomidations. Comfort Inn had over booked and had made me reservations at you motel,i did not get the same accomidations I had at comfort .which was a king suite. The room was payed by comfort she insited that she could not help me that It would be moor money I understood this. I called the clerk at comfort to explain the problem she tried to contact her boss to to get more money but no answer. Your clerk insited that I take what was offered or go somewhere else, had to stay nowhere to go its the overall manner she handled this that made me extreamly upset. When I travel thru this area again I will not stay at the holiday inn exp

The hotel was very nice, clean and welcoming; however, the staff at the front seemed fairly disinterested in the customers. I was the only one at the counter and the two desk staff were a few feet away chatting. About two or three minutes later one finally came over and checked me in. I chose to sit and wait and see how long it would it take for one of them to help. I was given a nice room and it was clean and well air conditioned.
I went to the restaurant (sports bar) and the staff were equally detached from most of the customers. My daughter and I were appalled at how disconnected they were with all of us in there. Some people just got up and left.
As I walked back towards the room the front desk staff were chatting again and not paying attention to people coming in. A few minutes passed before a customer got their attention. There behavior was stand offish and non attentive. I was very disappointed.

The Staff at the desk were friendly.
The breakfast buffet staff did not smile. The breakfast was a little bit skimpy.
The pool was OK except for the hair ball. Room was fine.

We had 2 cats and needed a pet room. The one we got totally smelled like wet dogs. There was dog food still on the carpet. The staff reduced our rate as a result but, of the 5 hotels we stayed in on our cross country journey, the total price of this Holiday Inn was still the highest price we paid of all the hotels. With a cleaner room, we would consider returning.

Overall a good experience. The rooms were not ready when we got there but they made every effort to get one ready quickly.
We had a room right near the elevator which I thought might be noisy but it was not until the 2nd night when there was a noisy wedding party but thats to be expected.
1st day the food was refilled slowly at the buffet but their was a large crowd, next day there were no issues, food was constantly replenished.

While staying at your facility I found the staff to be remarkably pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable.
However the next morning when I went downstairs to facilitate the our programs in Salons A & B I was quite disappointed. The room was not set up properly, the Audio equipment was not in working order. Chanlder was so gracious trying to get it working, but it just kept quitting on us. There was a distinct odor of urine outside of the Salons where we had the registration table set up. I had to go into the salon for the day which limited the work that I could do that day. The restrooms were not adequate. I am amazed that you have a facility of that size with only one women's restroom and with such a limited number of stalls. I would not recommend this facility for any event to others.

We arrived at the Mount Vernon Holiday Inn via tow truck -- that should tell you we were having a very bad Sunday! A deer had leaped into our car completely smashing the front end. After calling highway patrol and AAA, Rick's towing came to haul our car back to Mount Vernon and the driver brought us to the Holiday Inn. A warm welcome from the front desk staff and nice comfortable room helped to take the edge off this bad day. The business center was a great resource as we searched for the best options to deal with a disabled car hundreds of miles from home. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. After a good night's rest and a good breakfast, we were ready to hit the road again with a rented truck to tow our car back home. Special thanks to Juanita at the front desk and to all the rest of the staff for helping make a bad day good.

Wait staff in dining are was rude and unfriendly. I had a priority club coupon to order breakfast off the menu, the waitress didn't wait on us we were unable to order from the menu. The eggs and ham from the buffet was cold, did not eat them! waitress did not stop by our table once to see if we needed anything. She was unsmiling and had a scowl on her face..She not someone I would want representing my business!!!

Always appreciate our stay in Mt. Vernon. Our family lives there and we travel home 1-2 times per year to see everyone. Holiday Inn always makes our stay better!
